Chapter 22: Shocking Reversal

The fist was about to hit Xu Xingchen's face!

In the blink of an eye, a white and slender hand reached out from the side and grabbed Zhang Tiansheng's wrist. Zhang Tiansheng was so angry that he wanted to turn his arm and hit the person who stretched out his hand, but he didn't expect that he couldn't break free even if he tried his best.

Before he could struggle, he saw the veins bulging on the back of his white, slender hand, and then it twisted.

"Crack." It was the sound of the shoulder bone being dislocated.

"Ah—my hand!", followed by a wailing sound that echoed throughout the yard.

Jun Haoyue put the howling ghost aside with an indifferent look on his face, and reached out to Xu Xingchen beside him for a handkerchief to wipe his hands. Xu Xingchen blinked away the inquiry and suspicion in his eyes, and took off the apron around his waist and gave it to him.

She secretly released the force from her legs. In fact, she had just stabilized her lower body and made a defensive posture, ready to give Zhang Tiansheng an over-the-shoulder throw, but before she could make a move, Jun Haoyue grabbed her first.

It took only a few breaths from the time Zhang Tiansheng launched a sneak attack to the time he was subdued. The onlookers did not react to what had happened. When they saw clearly, they saw Zhang Tiansheng rolling on the ground with his arms hugged and shouting for his mother.

Aunt Wang's face was so shocked that the wrinkles on it were like crumpled paper. She screamed, "Son!" and rushed towards her son.

"Tian Sheng, how are you? What should I do if my mother is in trouble? Ah, please save my son——"

When the villagers saw Zhang Tiansheng being knocked down by Jun Haoyue, they silently formed an understanding in their hearts about him. Widow Xu's cousin was skilled, so they all tacitly withdrew from Xu Xingchen's yard and stood in a circle around the fence. No one came forward to help, and they left Aunt Wang and her son crying and howling.

They won't use an egg to hit a stone, and Jun Haoyue is that stone now.

There was a hint of ruthlessness and disdain in Jun Haoyue's eyes. He threw the apron he used to wipe his hands to the ground. The apron floated to Aunt Wang's feet. Aunt Wang cried when she saw the apron. Suddenly, like a fish in a pond that had been blown up, she pointed at Xu Xingchen and started to throw a tantrum.

If she can't afford to offend Jun Haoyue, can she afford to offend Widow Xu?

"Widow Xu, it's winter now, the crops haven't been harvested, and no one has anything to eat, yet you're still eating meat! Your family must have failed to pay the grain tax!"

Xu Xingchen was almost crushed by Aunt Wang's shamelessness. What was going on? Why did they bring up the topic of eating meat? Besides, her family ate meat, so what did it have to do with her?

She frowned, not wanting to argue with Aunt Wang anymore, and said impatiently, "Aunt Wang, if you're okay, take your son and leave my house."

Hearing her drive away, Aunt Wang couldn't possibly obey. She immediately hugged Zhang Tiansheng and cried, "Oh my God, look at me, an orphan and a widow, being bullied to this extent. Everyone is almost starving and gnawing on tree bark, and the culprit is still enjoying a good life. Oh my God, you are so unfair——"

Her purpose was to stir up dissatisfaction among the villagers. Why could Widow Xu eat meat? If it weren't for Zhang Xiaochun's lust, her family member Tian Sheng wouldn't have been involved, and she wouldn't have ended up having her arm twisted.

The culprit behind all this is Widow Xu!

As expected, the villagers' emotions were aroused by her, and gradually, voices of dissatisfaction were heard.

"Widow Xu actually has meat."

"Just now I heard that it seemed to be rabbit meat. It's so cold, and they still dare to go hunting in the mountains."

"Hey, you're still eating alone? I even gave radishes to Widow Xu."

......

Xu Xingchen frowned. She really underestimated the moral quality of the people on this planet. They were so easily led by the nose and had no thoughts of their own.

Never mind, she could catch rabbits later. She would first settle the public outrage. Once she had cultivated the wheat, she would teach these people. If she got angry now, she wouldn't be able to return without completing her mission.

Thinking of this, she looked at Jun Haoyue, her lips moving. Before she could say anything, Jun Haoyue seemed to understand. He walked into the house, walked through the house to the backyard, and took out the rabbit meat soaked in well water.

The rabbit meat had been thawed. When Jun Haoyue took it out, it had been divided into several pieces and he tied them up with hemp rope and carried them out.

Xu Xingchen and Jun Haoyue distributed a piece of the divided rabbit meat to everyone present. After all, it was not much, so they gave it to each household.

Aunt Wang supported Zhang Tiansheng and watched them divide the meat eagerly. Seeing that the meat was getting less and less, she yelled, "Hey, my son was beaten by your cousin. Do we have to give him an extra piece?"

Xu Xingchen raised his eyes and glanced at her, then gave the last piece in his hand to someone else.

"Widow Xu! I'm going to sue you to the village chief! You beat up my son and didn't give my family any meat!" Aunt Wang was furious.

"Am I obligated to give your family some? The rabbit meat belongs to my family. I can give it to whoever I want. Is that a problem?"

"you!..."

Xu Xingchen snorted coldly and crossed his arms. "Speaking of suing the village chief, go ahead and sue me. It was your son who wanted to hit me first. There are so many eyes watching us." He glanced around at the villagers and said, "Right? Everyone saw it, right?"

Because the villagers had received the meat from Xu Xingchen, they felt that it was the duty of the man to take the meat and the duty of the man to eat the meat. They all volunteered to be witnesses for Xu Xingchen, as long as they could prove that he had not done anything wrong.

"Yes, we all saw it. Zhang Tiansheng wanted to hit Mrs. Xu."

"Yes, I saw that too."

Xu Xingchen was not very happy when she heard the villagers speaking for her. She just looked at the middle-aged man who called her Sister Xu and touched his face silently, and sadness surged in her heart.

She is only twenty years old. Isn't it wrong to call her sister-in-law?

Aunt Wang gritted her teeth unwillingly, the flesh on her face trembling. She had been making trouble for a long time and had made things difficult for everyone, but she didn't get any benefits and was even laughed at and criticized.

Looking at the other villagers' happy faces, muttering about having meat to eat tonight, she felt it was irritating and wanted to curse, but Zhang Tiansheng just hugged his arms and howled.

"Mom, my arm hurts! I can't move my arm, my arm is useless!"

Aunt Wang came back to her senses. Oh my God, if Zhang Tiansheng's arm was disabled, what would happen to the family's fields when spring came? More importantly, he hasn't married yet. Who would marry a disabled person?

Thinking of this, Aunt Wang wailed again, her voice empty and unrelenting: "My son, what will I do if you cripple me? My poor son."

The villagers were getting impatient with her wailing and advised her to stop making trouble. Instead of howling, she should go find a doctor to check Zhang Tiansheng's arm.

Xu Xingchen was also seeing stars because of the noise. "Stop howling. It's just a dislocation. Just find a doctor to fix it."

Aunt Wang instantly fell silent, muttering in a daze, "It's good that it's not useless, it's good that it's not useless. Come on, Tian Sheng, mother will find a doctor to correct your bones."

Finally, the mother and son who were looking for trouble were sent away. The villagers had almost finished watching the show and went back in groups of three or four to cook.

Xu Xingchen looked at the empty yard and exhaled a puff of white mist. He stamped his feet and said to Jun Haoyue, "Cousin, you'll have to work hard to catch rabbits again."
