Chapter 84: The Habitual Thief

Zhang Tiansheng immediately started yelling when he saw this. "Look everyone, everyone is starving and fainting. We can't even eat, but Widow Xu is still eating meat. Look at that! Alas!"

Xu Xingchen tutted his words, "Zhang Tiansheng, stop messing with the rhythm. This is malnutrition, not starvation."

"Malnutrition? What is that? I don't care, he's just hungry."

Xu Xingchen: “…”

Zhang Tiansheng's twisted logic left her speechless, but if one had to say that malnutrition and hunger were linked, there was indeed some connection. Not being able to eat well would lead to malnutrition because of hunger.

The malnourished villagers were still complaining of dizziness, so Xu Xingchen had no choice but to take out the nutrient solution and asked Jun Haoyue to bring a bowl of water. He dropped a drop of nutrient solution into the water and asked the villagers to drink it.

After drinking it, the villager took a while to relax, then stood up with full energy and jumped twice to restore his position.

"Hey, I'm not dizzy anymore, I'm fine!"

The villagers watching were amazed. What kind of treasure did Widow Xu use to restore people's vitality? The villager bowed and thanked Xu Xingchen.

What was originally a crusade inexplicably turned into a thank you gift for Xu Xingchen's miraculous healing.

After everyone dispersed, they were still discussing how Xu Xingchen saved a certain villager, leaving Zhang Tiansheng with a distorted rhythm.

Zhang Tiansheng twisted his face and said harshly, "Just wait for me!" and left in embarrassment.

Xu Xingchen laughed angrily. What was going on?

The news that Widow Xu used a bottle of magic potion to restore a villager's vitality quickly spread throughout the village. Xu Xingchen didn't want the fermentation of the nutrient solution to be amplified, and it was all Zhang Tiansheng's fault. Now he couldn't hide it anymore.

Naturally, this rumor also reached Wang Muling's ears. She was very interested in the magical potion, but it was impossible for her to ask Xu Xingchen for it openly.

First, Xu Xingchen would never give it to her, and second, she couldn't bring herself to ask her for it.

She wants it but can't get it, so her dreams are filled with magic potions.

Finally, she couldn't bear it anymore. She had to get the magic potion, so she thought of stealing it.

Wang Muling was from the city after all, and it would be a laughing stock if the news of him stealing things from a country woman got out.

Until one morning, she saw Zhang Tiansheng doing nothing and suddenly had an idea.

That day she asked Zhang Tiansheng out, intending to persuade him to help her by appealing to his emotions and reasoning with him.

"Cousin Tian Sheng, I heard that Widow Xu saved a villager a few days ago. Is that true?"

Zhang Tiansheng was still feeling elated because of Wang Muling's appointment, but when he heard her mention Xu Xingchen out of the blue, he suspected that she knew about the dirty things he had done to Widow Xu in the past, so he hurriedly distanced himself from her.

"I don't know. I just heard about it."

Wang Muling looked at him in confusion. Wasn't he there? She asked.

Zhang Tiansheng blushed and stammered, "Yes," but he still argued, "I went there to seek justice for the village. I have nothing to do with Widow Xu."

Wang Muling's mouth twitched. She thought to herself, "Who cares if you're related to Widow Xu? All she wants is that magical potion." She deliberately frowned and said worriedly, "Then, Cousin Tiansheng, if Widow Xu has that potion, won't she be omnipotent? She'll be able to call the shots in the village from now on."

When Zhang Tiansheng heard this, he was stunned. He was still wondering what Xu Guafu's "dominance" in the village had to do with him.

Wang Muling had already figured out his thoughts and continued to guide him, "When she really becomes a powerful figure in the village, you and your aunt will do something to Widow Xu. You can't be sure if she will make things difficult for you and trip you up."

Zhang Tiansheng's thoughts were completely drawn to Wang Muling, and he didn't notice that he actually knew the "things" she was talking about.

"Then, what should we do..."

Wang Muling smiled triumphantly, "So, cousin Tian Sheng, I have an idea."

Zhang Tiansheng was as if he had been poisoned. He was stunned and asked, "What's the solution?"

"Come closer and listen..." Wang Muling whispered in his ear, and Zhang Tiansheng's expression changed from surprise to gloomy.

Xu Xingchen's home.

During the day, Xu Xingchen and Jun Haoyue sorted out some processed wheat from the small warehouse. It could not be planted, but it could be eaten.

Considering that it would be bad to keep so much wheat for a long time, and that the village has been short of food recently, they decided to donate it. The two planned to use the wheat as porridge.

In the evening, Xu Xingchen and Jun Haoyue finished their work and were ready to rest. Jun Haoyue suddenly covered her mouth and took her to the bamboo house.

"What are you doing?" She was a little annoyed.

"Someone climbed in."

Xu Xingchen glared. What the hell? Why do people always like to raid their yard in the middle of the night? Should they put up a safety net? She couldn't help but think.

Jun Haoyue's ears twitched and he lip-synched: It's an old acquaintance.

Xu Xingchen looked back: Which old acquaintance?

He raised his chin to signal her to look. Xu Xingchen crouched down and leaned against the window. He saw a tall and thin figure sneak into the inner room. After entering, he could only see the dark shadow passing by through the window.

How can you tell if it's someone you know if you can't see their face? Xu Xingchen turned to look at Jun Haoyue, questioning with his eyes.

Jun Haoyue covered her head with his big hand, turned her back to the window, and whispered, "Just watch."

“Meow—”

He let out a long cat cry from his throat, not like the usual meow, but like the long howl of a cat before its death.

From the inner room came the harsh sound of tables, chairs and benches being dislocated, accompanied by a quick scream.

When Xu Xingchen heard it, he recognized it. It was Zhang Tiansheng.

She rolled up her sleeves and was about to beat up this shameless guy who came to her without asking again and again, but Jun Haoyue held her back.

"I have a way to make him never dare to come here in the dark again."

"What method?"

Jun Haoyue gave him a mysterious smile and said, "Wait here. Don't go out until I come back."

Xu Xingchen nodded curiously.

Jun Haoyue tiptoed to the inner room, which was dark without a candle. After all, it was so late that everyone else would have gone to bed. He was familiar with the furnishings in the room and quickly came to where Zhang Tiansheng was. A dark figure was lying on the ground.

Zhang Tiansheng was not familiar with the situation inside the house and kept making noises, especially the eerie cat cry just now, which made him scream in fright.

He froze and lay on the ground, listening for a long time, but Widow Xu didn't wake up?

It turns out that Widow Xu sleeps so soundly. God help me. If I had known this, I would have waited until she fell asleep before coming, he thought to himself.

Then he thought, since Widow Xu couldn't find out, then if he... did something, wouldn't the other party not find out either? With this thought, his plan to steal the nutrient solution changed.

He rubbed his hands secretly and groped towards the bed. Jun Haoyue, who was observing his movements not far away, frowned when he saw this.

Just when Zhang Tiansheng was one step away from Xu Xingchen's bed, a vessel fell with a clang.
