Chapter 86: Getting Married

Erdan's howl quickly called out his neighbor, Aunt Wang.

Aunt Wang was cooking when she heard her son crying and immediately came out with a spatula.

"Widow Xu! What are you doing to my Erdan?"

When Erdan heard that his mother was coming, he cried even more miserably. Before Xu Xingchen could ask the question, he found out the mother's parents first.

Aunt Wang pulled her away, hugged Erdan in her arms, and raised the spatula to yell at Xu Xingchen, "Widow Xu, Erdan is only a few years old. If you have something to say, why can't you just say it nicely? Why did you resort to violence? Aren't you ashamed?"

After being scolded for no reason, Xu Xingchen clenched his teeth and patiently explained, "Auntie Wang, you misunderstood. I didn't hit Erdan. I just..."

"Okay, okay, no matter what your problem is, you are a grown-up, and you still bother with a child."

Aunt Wang interrupted her without listening to her explanation.

Xu Xingchen frowned and explained again, "Auntie Wang, I told you, I didn't make a fuss and I didn't do anything. It was Erdan who said I was shameless. I just asked him why he said that."

Aunt Wang's expression suddenly changed when she heard this. She lowered her head and gave Erdan a look that was quite reproachful. Then she looked at Xu Xingchen, her eyes full of contempt and disgust.

"Why, my son is right."

Xu Xingchen's brows tightened. It seemed that Aunt Wang knew about this. "Then may I ask Aunt Wang why you say I have no shame?"

"Bah, Widow Xu, stop talking nonsense. What's yours and ours? You have no shame, but I still have some. I really don't know why the Tong family kid married a woman like you."

Aunt Wang mumbled the second half of her sentence, which Xu Xingchen didn't understand. No matter what she did, she would be called shameless.

"No, Aunt Wang, I don't want to ask anything else. I just want to ask, why do you say I'm shameless? What have I done?"

"Don't you know what you did? How dare you ask me?" Aunt Wang raised her voice, very puzzled.

She was puzzled, and Xu Xingchen was puzzled.

While the two were confronting each other, Jun Haoyue was taking care of vegetables in the greenhouse. He heard the quarrel and came out to see what was going on. Seeing that it was Xu Xingchen arguing with someone, he put down his work and came out to ask.

"Cousin, Aunt Wang, what's wrong with you?"

When Aunt Wang saw Jun Haoyue, her expression was very complicated. The more she looked at him, the less they looked alike. It could be said that they had no similarities at all. How could she have been so blind as to think that they were real cousins?

"You're asking your good 'cousin', how dare you ask me." After saying that, she rolled her eyes at him.

Jun Haoyue: “…”

Well, this was the first time he received someone's cold stare.

He looked at Xu Xingchen with doubt in his eyes. Xu Xingchen frowned and shook his head to indicate that he didn't know.

"Auntie Wang, just tell me what's going on." Jun Haoyue's tone unconsciously turned cold.

Perhaps chilled by the coldness of his words, Aunt Wang took a half step back before replying, "I heard that some people in the village said you weren't Widow Xu's cousin. You two, a single man and a single woman, were in the same room, behaving intimately and having an affair. You have no shame."

Xu Xingchen: “…”

It was true that Jun Haoyue was not her cousin, but the idea that they shared a room together was shameless and that was sheer nonsense. She and Jun Haoyue were in love but polite, so how could they be so intimate?

Seeing Jun Haoyue's face darken, Aunt Wang immediately became a little timid. "This, this is all what the villagers said. It has nothing to do with me. I know nothing. I didn't see anything."

As she spoke, she grabbed Erdan and took the opportunity to slip away.

Jun Haoyue frowned coldly, not even looking at her. He lowered his eyes and wondered who could have spread such a rumor.

Xu Xingchen did not think about who spread the rumor like Jun Haoyue did. She was more angry about why people said that she and Jun Haoyue had an affair.

"Xingchen, you go back first. I'm going out to do something." Jun Haoyue said hello and left in a hurry. He had a clue and wanted to check it out.

Xu Xingchen looked at his departing back, feeling quite dissatisfied, and stood there muttering to himself.

Jun Haoyue came to Aunt Wang's house. Wang Muling was sitting on the stone block at the door, swinging his feet boredly.

When she saw Jun Haoyue coming, her eyes lit up and she jumped off the stone pier with a triumphant smile on her lips.

When Jun Haoyue approached, the smile on her face disappeared, and she asked in surprise, "Widow Xu's younger brother?"

Jun Haoyue didn't answer, but lowered his eyes and looked at her quietly, like a dormant lion.

Wang Muling didn't mind the other party's lack of response and continued, "I asked my aunt, and she said you are older than me. Can I call you Brother Haoyue?"

"Why are you spreading rumors?"

The clear and elegant voice was pleasant to the ears. Wang Muling narrowed her eyes slightly. Brother Haoyue’s voice was so nice.

She asked back with an innocent look on her face: "Brother Haoyue, what are you talking about? Are you spreading rumors?"

"Stop pretending. It was you who instigated Zhang Tiansheng to go to my house in the middle of the night." Jun Haoyue's tone was tinged with impatience.

"Oh, cousin Tian Sheng, he actually went to your house in the middle of the night. Could it be that he is obsessed with Widow Xu? But he always says that Widow Xu is a slut and second-hand goods."

Wang Muling blinked and chuckled: "He's so weird."

Hearing the words that belittled Xu Xingchen, Jun Haoyue couldn't help but clench his fists and said coldly, "If you say anything unpleasant about Xingchen again, I'll make you pay."

"Xingchen?" Wang Muling covered her lips in surprise. "You actually called your cousin by her name? Could it be that... you're really not Widow Xu's cousin as the rumors say, and you two are fake?"

Upon hearing this, Jun Haoyue's breathing stagnated, and he instantly realized that he had been provoked. This woman...deliberately said something that belittled Xu Xingchen to anger him.

Seeing his expression, Wang Muling was very proud. She was 90% sure that there was indeed a problem in their relationship. The remaining 10% was just that they didn't admit it verbally.

"What exactly do you want? What's your purpose? Nutrient solution?" Jun Haoyue's words seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth. After thinking about it, he roughly guessed that it was related to the nutrient solution.

Wang Muling heard a new word, "Nutrient solution? Is it that magical potion that can restore one's vitality?"

Jun Haoyue's eyes moved, but he didn't answer her question.

She put her hands behind her back and took two steps. "Yes, it should be that nutrient solution. But that's not my target."

"no?"

"Yes, do you want to clarify the rumors?"

Jun Haoyue narrowed his eyes slightly, "Request?"

Wang Muling laughed heartily, "Brother Haoyue is indeed smart. I like you even more."

She suddenly came up to him and said, "It's very simple. As long as you two get married, the rumors will be dispelled."

"Getting married? That's a good idea. I can consider it."
