Munduner's travel is not limited by time or place. He can go anywhere, including the past and the future.
When asked about his trip to Kyoto, Mendun took out a map. The places he had been to on the map were marked with four-leaf clovers. He couldn't understand it, so he gave the map to Xu Xingchen and pointed to the marks to show her.
Xu Xingchen leaned over and saw many four-leaf clovers marked on the world map. Munduner had been to many places.
She touched his little head and praised, "What a great son." Munduner raised his chin proudly.
While the adult and the child were looking at the map, Jun Haoyue had already separated the roast duck bones and meat and put them on separate plates.
"Let's eat first."
The three of them were sitting around the table eating roast duck when a dark shadow flashed by the window. Jun Haoyue noticed it immediately, and suddenly stood up and pulled Xu Xingchen into the inner room.
"?!" Xu Xingchen was bewildered. "What's wrong?"
Jun Haoyue put his finger in front of his lips and made a 'hush' gesture. "Don't make any noise. I'll go out and take a look."
"oh..."
Xu Xingchen hugged Munduner tightly. She didn't know what had happened, but judging from Jun Haoyue's expression, it seemed a little dangerous.
Jun Haoyue did not go out directly, but moved to the door along the wall. The black shadow did not move by the window.
He thought for a moment, then bent over and walked toward the window. He and the shadow outside the window, one inside and one outside.
The shadow outside the window seemed to notice the sudden silence inside and moved. Jun Haoyue held his breath, and when the shadow moved again, he pushed the window outwards.
"Ah——" a wailing sound.
Jun Haoyue jumped out of the window with nimble agility. Zhang Tiansheng squatted on the ground, covering his nose, and blood flowed from between his fingers.
"Zhang Tiansheng?"
When his name was called, Zhang Tiansheng responded reflexively. Then he realized that he was exposed and looked at Jun Haoyue guiltily.
Jun Haoyue looked down at him with a cold expression, "What are you doing sneaking around in my house?"
Zhang Tiansheng covered his nose and rolled his eyes. Using the redness from the blow to his nose, he raised his hands and begged for mercy, "I didn't do anything. I just smelled meat at your house. We haven't had meat since winter, and the sudden smell made me lose control."
Jun Haoyue's face remained stern, as if he was pondering the truth of his words. Xu Xingchen, who was in the inner room, heard someone talking and poked his head out the window.
"Zhang Tiansheng? Why are you here? What's wrong with your face?" Xu Xingchen was a little surprised to see Zhang Tiansheng, but she was even more surprised by the blood all over his face.
Zhang Tiansheng avoided her gaze, smiled awkwardly and did not answer.
"He said he smelled meat and wanted to eat it."
Xu Xingchen wore a similar expression to Jun Haoyue. Are all the Zhang family members like this? There was Zhang Xiaochun in front, and Zhang Tiansheng in the back. They all loved to covet other people's things.
Zhang Tiansheng wiped his nose, his cuffs instantly stained red, and said pitifully, "Sister Xu, please give me some. I really haven't eaten meat in a long time."
It’s not that Xu Xingchen is reluctant to give up the meat, but...the way he begs for meat, how can she not feel any sympathy at all?
Never mind, it’s just a little bit of meat, I’ll just give him some.
She turned to Jun Haoyue and said, "Jun Haoyue, give him a portion of the roast duck."
Jun Haoyue looked at her, then looked at Zhang Tiansheng who was squatting pitifully on the ground, frowned, and reluctantly went back to the house to divide the roast duck.
Xu Xingchen was still lying by the window and did not follow in.
Zhang Tiansheng nodded and bowed, "Thank you, thank you."
"Thank you too early. I also have conditions."
Zhang Tiansheng's expression froze, and he asked dryly, "What are the conditions?"
Xu Xingchen looked at him with disdain, "Don't come into my yard for no reason again. If you do that again, I'll sue the village chief."
"No, no, I promise." Zhang Tiansheng's expression relaxed and he turned to be flattering again.
Xu Xingchen supported her chin with one hand and held the window frame with the other. The candlelight illuminated half of her face, making it hazy and gentle.
Zhang Tiansheng felt itchy in his heart for some reason. He kept calling Xu Xingchen a slut, but he really wanted Xu Xingchen's type, the kind he had been craving for for a long time.
As she watched, her hand followed her heart and touched Xu Xingchen's hand that was leaning on the window coffin, and she laughed: "Sister Xu, your hands are so slippery."
Xu Xingchen felt a caterpillar crawling on the back of her hand, giving her goosebumps.
She raised her hand and slapped him, "Pa——".
Zhang Tiansheng tilted his head, his eyes gradually changed from confused to fierce, and his mouth began to become uncontrollable, "You fucking..." Before he could reach out to grab Xu Xingchen's collar.
A white hand stretched out from behind Xu Xingchen and punched Zhang Tiansheng in the eye, causing him to let out another wail.
Zhang Tiansheng covered half of his face, his eyes were black and blue, and he pointed at Jun Haoyue behind Xu Xingchen with a shaking finger, "You...why did you hit me!"
Jun Haoyue retracted his fist, released it, and shook his hand. "What do you think?"
His expression seemed calm and composed, but Zhang Tiansheng didn't dare to refute him. He gritted his teeth and looked at him hatefully.
"This is a gift for you, take it and go." Jun Haoyue threw the oil paper bag containing the portioned roast duck into his arms.
Zhang Tiansheng pinched the oil-paper bag, the veins on the back of his hand bulging. "Alms?" When did he, Zhang Tiansheng, ever need alms from this pretty boy? He really wanted to throw the thing back at the pretty boy's face.
But he only dared to think about these things in his mind. He stuffed the oil-paper bag into his arms, snorted, stood up, patted the dirt and left.
After the people left, Jun Haoyue said to Xu Xingchen with a bad expression: "What else can you do with this kind of person?"
Xu Xingchen touched her nose, she was just too naive.
The next day, Xu Xingchen was awakened by a series of "clang clang" sounds. She rubbed her eyes and went to the yard. She felt a slight coolness on her face and the smell of moist soil on her nose. She woke up instantly.
It actually rained last night? She looked at the person making the noise and asked, "Jun Haoyue, what are you doing so early in the morning?"
Jun Haoyue was hammering nails into the ground and said without turning his head, "It was windy and rainy last night, and a lot of tomatoes were blown away. I built a simple shed."
"Oh..." Xu Xingchen walked towards him. The tomatoes in the experimental field were scattered on the ground, covered with mud after the rain. She looked at Leng Shi with pain and walked to the other side to pull the tent cloth for Jun Haoyue.
After finishing the work, both of them were sweating. Xu Xingchen wanted to boil some water to take a bath, so he went to get firewood and found that the firewood was not covered and was soaked by the rain.
So Jun Haoyue tried to make up for his mistake and built a shed for the firewood pile, blaming him for forgetting the plum rain season.
The firewood shed was built, but Xu Xingchen couldn't take a bath. She pulled up her collar and sniffed it in distress. It smelled of sweat, and she had to wash it.
Jun Haoyue suggested, "Otherwise, you go to Auntie Pang's place to wash, and I'll find a place to wash myself."
"Ah...that's too much trouble." Xu Xingchen didn't want to trouble others.
