Chapter 12 The Best Cake He Had Ever Eaten

Chapter Twelve:

"Here, Xiaoxi, this is a gift for you." Mu Shaoting picked up the cake that was placed aside and looked at him with a smile. "Didn't I say before that I would bring you a small cake next time we met? I changed my mind and changed it to this big one. This one is even tastier, super tastier. You'll know once you eat a piece in a while."

Ye Qingxi: ? ? ?

Ye Qingxi was somewhat taken aback.

Before he could react, Mu Shaoyan had already dragged out the two large bears he had hidden beforehand.

"This is a gift for you. It feels amazing. I squeezed it several times when my classmate received it. It's so soft and comfortable. You can lie down on it and squeeze it."

Ye Qingxi: ...

Ye Qingxi was momentarily at a loss for words.

He unconsciously tightened his grip on Mu Shaowu's hand, holding it back, quiet and silent.

"Let's cut the cake first," Mu Shaoting suggested enthusiastically. "Or should we wait until Dad comes back?"

"Let's cut it now." Mu Shaowu looked at her. "Dad should be back late today. He said we'll eat by ourselves tonight and don't need to wait for him."

"Okay," Mu Shaoting said, placing the cake on the coffee table.

Mu Shaowu then led Ye Qingxi over.

Mu Shaoyan, carrying the two bears, struggled to follow.

Mu Shaoting quickly opened the cake box, turned to look at Ye Qingxi, and asked him, "Is it cute?"

She was referring to the little figures on the cake.

She specifically asked the cake decorator to make a chocolate figurine, and for this, she even asked Mu Shaowu to secretly take a picture of Ye Qingxi for her.

Fortunately, Ye Qingxi was playing games at the time and had no suspicion of Mu Shaowu, which allowed Mu Shaowu to successfully take the photos.

Ye Qingxi looked at the chocolate figurine in front of her and nodded.

She is quite cute, and she also looks a bit like him.

He looked at the little figure and naturally saw the four words next to it: "Welcome Home".

For some reason, Ye Qingxi suddenly felt a pang of sadness at that moment.

He should have had cake yesterday.

His eighteenth birthday cake.

He loves cake; he wasn't lying to Mu Shaowu, he really does like both sweet and spicy cakes.

So when Mu Shaowu was feeding him while he was playing games, he ate the whole plate of desserts one bite at a time.

He had actually been looking forward to turning eighteen and becoming an adult for a long time.

He also fantasized that his parents might prepare a big cake for him in advance.

Later, he realized that fantasizing was useless, so he took the initiative to tell his parents to remember to buy him a cake on that day.

He can't very well go and buy it for himself.

Although he had done it before, and even many times, turning eighteen is different from other birthdays.

He hoped that the cake for this day wouldn't be something he bought himself, but a gift from someone else.

However, he still went and bought the cake himself.

I bought it, but didn't get to eat a single bite.

Ye Qingxi didn't feel any regret, because he was dead.

His death was the best gift he could receive on his eighteenth birthday, far more precious than any cake.

He liked it even more than the cake.

But now, the day after his eighteenth birthday, he unexpectedly received a cake.

It was a cake that he didn't buy himself; it was a gift from someone else.

The cake read, "Welcome Home," as if he were very popular here, among them.

Ye Qingxi blinked, looked up, and didn't dare to let her eyes, which were already stinging, continue staring at the cake in front of her.

However, when he looked up, he saw Mu Shaoyan standing diagonally opposite him, holding the two bears that had been given to him in his arms, one on each side.

The two bears were tall and large, and it looked rather comical when Mu Shaoyan held them.

Ye Qingxi couldn't help but laugh.

Mu Shaoyan: ? ? ?

Mu Shaoyan asked in confusion, "What's wrong?"

Looking at his foolish appearance, Mu Shaowu said speechlessly, "Can't you put these two bears down? Aren't you tired?"

Mu Shaoyan suddenly realized, "Yes, he could have easily put both bears down!"

He immediately threw the bear onto the sofa and sat down himself.

"What are you all still standing for? Sit down," Mu Shaoyan said.

Mu Shaowu ignored him, and simply took out a cake knife and handed it to Ye Qingxi, saying, "Your aunt gave you this cake, you cut it."

Mu Shaoting nodded, "Mhm."

Ye Qingxi looked at the cake knife in front of her, turned her head to look at Mu Shaowu, then at Mu Shaoting, before reaching out to take it.

"Take the effigy first," Mu Shaoting reminded him.

Ye Qingxi picked up the chocolate figure on the cake and saw that it was smiling.

His lips twitched involuntarily, subtly curving into a smile, though not very clearly.

Seeing him staring at the chocolate figurine, Mu Shaoting laughed and said, "Don't just stare at the figurine, the cake hasn't been cut yet."

"It's alright," Mu Shaowu said gently. "There's no rush. Xiaoxi, if you like this little figure, you can eat it first before cutting the cake."

“That’s true,” Mu Shaoting said.

However, Ye Qingxi was not in a hurry to eat.

He took the cake knife and slowly cut into the cake.

He cut it into four pieces.

The first slice was originally intended for Mu Shaoting, but Mu Shaoting didn't accept it. "This cake was bought for you, so the first slice should be yours."

Upon hearing this, Ye Qingxi looked at Mu Shaowu.

Mu Shaowu nodded.

Ye Qingxi didn't insist any further, placed the first piece in front of herself, and cut another piece for Mu Shaoting.

He also cut a piece for Mu Shaowu and Mu Shaoyan.

He deliberately avoided the part containing those four characters until he finished his first piece and then cut the part with those four characters onto his plate.

Ye Qingxi looked at the four words written in chocolate on the cake and slowly put her fork into it.

He ate quietly.

The cake was sweet, the cream was fragrant, and the fillings were delicious.

Mu Shaoting wasn't lying; this cake was indeed incredibly delicious, better than any cake he had ever eaten before.

Ye Qingxi ate slowly, savoring the taste in her mouth.

This is the best cake he has ever eaten.
