Zhang Weiren was furious, Zhang Weifen was frightened to tears, and Granny Niu's voice also rose loudly:
"What a good family education! You don't give orders to other people. My family has always been like this. Only men can eat vegetables, and he has to support the family. Once you enter the Niu family, you have to follow the rules of my family."
"Haha, your family's rules are more important than anything else. I'm going to go to the village and ask if everyone in your village treats their daughters-in-law in this way."
Zhang Weiren turned around and was about to leave when Niu Qiangsheng grabbed his hand:
"Brother, don't be angry, let's talk it over nicely."
"What? How do you abuse your wife and children? Honestly, your family really makes me uncomfortable."
Zhang Weiren didn't waste time talking to them and turned to look at Zhang Weifen:
"Now I give you two choices. First, you live your own life and bear the consequences of life and death yourself. Second, divorce."
Zhang Weifen had no strong opinions to begin with, but now that she saw someone backing her up, she immediately made a decision:
"Brother, I choose to divorce, but what about the children?"
Zhang Weiren looked at Niu Qiangsheng coldly:
"Niu Qiangsheng, do you want the child? If not, I will take my sister to the hospital."
First he mentioned divorce, and then he talked about the child, which scared the mother and son of the Niu family out of their wits. They originally thought that Zhang Weifen was difficult to deal with, but who knew that Zhang Weiren was so tough.
Granny Niu was the first to react. Her grandson definitely wanted it:
"Her eldest brother, our family will definitely have a grandson, and the two children have a good relationship, so let's not talk about divorce."
Niu Qiangsheng was also startled, and he immediately expressed his opinion:
"Brother, I won't divorce you. I will treat Weifen well in the future."
Zhang Weiren didn't believe them at all. Some things were ingrained in him. How could they possibly change? He despised this family, but he was still willing to respect Zhang Weifen's choice.
Zhang Weifen had had enough, but for the sake of her children, she was willing to give the man another chance:
"Brother, I want to give birth to the child. If they still treat me badly, I will divorce them."
"Okay, call me if you have anything." Zhang Weiren said and left. He didn't want to stay here for even a minute.
Zhang Weifen thought her life would be better in the future, but as soon as Zhang Weiren left, her life returned to normal.
Both her mother-in-law and husband blamed her for being ignorant and not following the rules of her own family.
The days that followed were like a stagnant pool of water. When the child was five months old, Zhang Weifen finally exploded and filed for divorce:
"Niu Qiangsheng, I want to divorce you."
"Are you crazy? Why are you making such a fuss?"
"Do you want the child? If not, I'll go to the hospital. I've had enough of this life."
In the end, no matter how humble Niu Qiangsheng tried, Zhang Weifen didn't change her mind. If Granny Niu dared to scold her, she would scold him even more fiercely.
They kept arguing like this until Niu Qiangsheng was distracted at work and almost buried alive, and then he decided to change.
He looked at the sixteen-year-old girl. The passion she once had in her eyes was gone, leaving only indifference and disgust. He knew that he couldn't go on like this.
"Weifen, I agree to the divorce. After the child is born, we will go through the formalities."
A look of surprise flashed in Zhang Weifen's eyes:
"Can."
The two sides temporarily reached a consensus, and Niu Qiangsheng also advised her mother not to deliberately target Zhang Weifen anymore.
Life went on like this. At the end of April 1971, Zhang Weifen gave birth to a girl. She didn't even look at the child and handed it directly to Grandma Niu.
Although Granny Niu was a bit patriarchal, she was still very nice to her first granddaughter. She happily took out her treasured malted milk to feed the child.
Niu Qiangsheng originally thought that after the birth of the child, Zhang Weifen would change her mind, but unexpectedly, after the full month, Zhang Weifen dragged him to get a divorce.
When the two got married, Zhang Weifen was not old enough, so they paid someone to change her age. Now it looks like a joke.
After getting the divorce certificate, Zhang Weifen felt happier than eating honey. Her hard days were finally over.
Zhang Weifen had called Zhang Weiren before and told him that she wanted a divorce. Zhang Weiren did not comment, but only told her that she could not return to the village for the time being because the villagers did not agree.
Zhang Weifen was so angry that she started crying. Why could her elder sister go home after getting divorced, but she couldn't?
After receiving the divorce certificate, Zhang Weifen immediately called her eldest brother:
"Brother, I'm divorced now, where should I go?"
Zhang Weiren rubbed his forehead, feeling a little worried:
"I'll rent a house for you outside, you can live there first."
Of course Zhang Weifen was unwilling to do so. How could she live outside alone? She hung up the phone and called Zhang Weifang again:
"Sister, I'm divorced and I'm going to live with you. Please pick me up at the train station this afternoon."
Without waiting for Zhang Weifang to speak, she hung up the phone.
Zhang Weifang was confused and had no idea what she meant, so she had to call Zhang Weiren to ask.
When Zhang Weiren heard that she was going to her eldest sister's house, disgust appeared in his eyes. He had clearly arranged everything for her, so why should she bother her eldest sister?
My eldest sister has a brother-in-law at home. It would be so inconvenient for her to go there. Why do you never consider other people's feelings?
"Sister, don't worry about her. I'll pick her up when I'm free. Don't let her cause you any trouble."
"Weiren, don't worry, big sister. I know what to do."
Zhang Weifang was speechless about her sister. How could she still be so willful after being married once?
In the afternoon, she picked up Zhang Weifen at the train station. Zhang Weifen didn't look like a divorced person at all. She looked around all the way with curiosity in her eyes.
"Big sister, big cities are great. Those buildings are really tall. Why are there wires on that car?"
When Zhang Weifen returned home, she immediately saw the exquisite iron gate:
"Sister, this gate is really beautiful."
"Sister, your yard is still concrete?"
"Sister, is this a coal briquette? Does it burn quickly?"
"Sister, whose house is next door?"
Zhang Weifen never stopped talking all the way, which gave Zhang Weifang a headache.
During dinner, she saw the long-missed meat dish and took three pieces in a row before stopping:
"Sister, your family is so well off that you can even afford to eat meat?"
Zhang Weifen's words stunned everyone. Hu Zi asked directly:
"Aunt, you can buy meat with meat coupons, so why can't you afford it? Doesn't your uncle buy it for you?"
Hu Zi is now nine years old. He has grown into a handsome young man with a chubby face.
He knew his aunt was married. Could it be that his uncle was poor and that was why he didn't buy her meat? Then why did she get married?
