Chapter 59 Raising a Child

At night, the nurses' ward rounds, the children's crying, and the clinicians' snoring all made Zhang Weifang extremely distressed.

The next morning, after the doctor finished the physical examination, Zhang Weifang couldn't wait to ask Li Hongru to go through the discharge procedures.

Li Hongru borrowed a cart, let his wife and children sit on it, and he pulled the cart back home.

After returning home, Zhang Weifang fell asleep without even eating. She was so tired.

The child drank the milk powder and fell asleep with his mother.

Zhang Qiaona also went back to her room to rest, and Li Hongru began to wash diapers, wash baby bottles, and stew pork ribs.

The mother and child slept until noon. When the child woke up, he cried, and Zhang Weifang tried to feed him breast milk.

Originally, I thought the little guy couldn't suck it out, but who would have thought that the child was sucking so hard that Zhang Weifang felt pain but the baby still refused to let go.

Fortunately, Zhang Weifang was lucky. The baby sucked out the milk after just a dozen or so mouthfuls, and was full after eating it "gulp gulp" for a few minutes.

The child was too soft and Zhang Weifang didn't dare to hold him. In the end, Li Hongru held the child and burped him. After changing the child's diaper, he fell asleep again.

Zhang Weifang just took the time to eat, stewed pork ribs soup, and millet and red date porridge.

At night, Zhang Qiao Na wanted to sleep with the girl and take care of the child at the same time, but the couple refused.

One is that it is inconvenient, and the other is that Zhang Qiao Na is not young anymore. How can her body withstand staying up late every day?

Under Zhang Qiaona's worried gaze, Zhang Weifang and Li Hongru welcomed the first night with their child.

The child was really sensible. He woke up once every three hours and just needed to be fed. For convenience, Zhang Weifang also bought diapers for the child, so the night was pretty good.

Zhang Weifang has a backache and basically doesn't hold the child. Li Hongru holds the child himself. He is both tired and happy.

Li Hongru only took three days off, and today is the last day. He still has to go to the village to report the good news.

Li Hongru first took the eight eggs to his father-in-law's house, and then returned to his own home.

Li Guifang also knew that the third daughter had given birth to a child and had been waiting at home. As a father-in-law, he was embarrassed to enter his daughter-in-law's room, so he let Ma Shulan go alone.

Seeing Li Hongru coming to report the good news, Li Guifang happily asked about his grandson's eating and drinking situation. Only when he learned that the child was already drinking breast milk did he nod with satisfaction.

Ma Shulan also asked a few questions, and then there was no further news.

Li Hongru had no choice but to speak directly: "Mom, when will you come to my house to see the children?"

"There's a lot of stuff going on at home, and the cornmeal isn't ground yet. Let's wait a few days. Besides, isn't your mother-in-law here? It'll be easier for her to take care of her own daughter."

Li Hongru could tell his mother was trying to shirk responsibility, but he suppressed his dissatisfaction and continued to persuade her:

"Mom, my father-in-law has a lot of things to do at home, you should go there early!"

Ma Shulan threw the spoon in her hand away with a snap:

"Third brother, I'm old, can't you let me have a couple of days off? Weifang doesn't have to work, so you can take care of your own children."

"We rural people don't have such problems. Many people were born directly in the fields. You are just spoiling your wife too much."

Li Hongru understood that his mother was dissatisfied with his wife going to the hospital to give birth. Nowadays, people usually find a midwife to give birth at home, and going to the hospital costs money.

"Mom, you're just looking for trouble. I agreed to my wife going to the hospital. I feel at ease with the doctor around. If you don't want to take care of our child, forget it. I'll take care of the child myself."

After saying this, Li Hongru rode away on his bicycle, leaving Ma Shulan cursing behind him.

After seeing his son leave, Li Guifang said to Ma Shulan:

"Stop cursing, everyone's gone."

In fact, Li Guifang was also dissatisfied with Zhang Weifang. From the betrothal gift at the time of marriage, to Li Hongru not paying money to the family, to the issue of going to the hospital to give birth, the conflicts had accumulated bit by bit.

Li Hongru spent a long time mentally preparing himself at the door before entering the house. As soon as he saw his son, all the sadness on his face disappeared.

"He can raise his own child by himself, and he can take good care of the child. At worst, he will have to work harder in the future." Li Hongru encouraged himself in his heart.

"Weifang, what should we name our son?"

"Ah? This year is the Year of the Tiger, and the tiger is powerful and majestic. So your name is Li Wei?"

"Haha, no, your name contains the character 'Wei', which has the same pronunciation, so it can't be used." Zhang Qiao Na refused as soon as she heard the character 'Wei'.

Zhang Weifang thought for a while, and suddenly, an idea struck him:

“Peach and plum trees are silent, yet people come to them and walk under them. So let’s call him Li Chengxi!”

Zhang Qiaona didn't understand and didn't care, but Li Hongru's eyes lit up:

"What a nice name! If I have a daughter in the future, I'll just name her Li Buyan."

The pain of childbirth left Zhang Weifang with a lingering fear. She glanced at Li Hongru coldly:

"I'm not planning on having another child. I don't want to endure this kind of pain a second time."

"Okay, okay, I was wrong. Don't be angry. If you don't want to have another child, then don't. Just take care of this one."

Li Hongru still feels scared when he thinks about Zhang Weifang giving birth. The fear of giving birth still accompanies him.

Zhang Qiao Na did not express any opinion and did not interfere in her daughter's affairs.

In the following days, Zhang Qiao Na helped cook and take care of the child during the day, and the couple took care of the child themselves at night. The child was very well behaved and rarely cried, which saved the adults a lot of worry.

During her confinement period, her two sisters-in-law also came to see her, as did Aunt Wang from next door, who came the next day after they returned.

The son is still young and getting cuter as he grows older. Zhang Weifang looked at his strong limbs and gave him a nickname - Hu Zi.

Hu Zi's eyes are also round, just like his mother's. And now his skin has lost its redness and turned into a fair little cutie. Zhang Weifang's motherly love for him grows day by day.

Zhang Weifang feels very happy just looking at her son every day.

When Hu Zi was half a month old, his mother-in-law still hadn't come to replace him. Zhang Weifang asked Li Hongru and found out that she had no intention of coming at all.

Zhang Weifang was a little angry at first, but then he thought it through. If you don’t want to come, then don’t come. I’ll go however you want from now on.

Although Zhang Qiao Na missed home, she was more worried about her daughter. If she didn't take good care of her daughter during the confinement period, she would get sick, so she insisted on waiting until Zhang Weifang was done with the confinement period before going back.

Li Hongru was also sincerely grateful to his mother-in-law and brought a bunch of things with her when he sent her back.

After the confinement period, Zhang Weifang was able to take care of the child by herself. However, Li Hongru still insisted on making soup for her every day, trying to get his son to drink more breast milk for a few more days.

Hu Zi is getting cuter and cuter now. He looks out the window with his eyes every day, but the weather outside is too cold, otherwise Zhang Weifang would like to take the child out to bask in the sun.

The year passed peacefully, and the New Year was coming soon. Hu Zi was already three months old.
