Chapter 98: Chatting

Lv Hongwei held the teapot in his hand, and while pouring water, he replied with a smile:

"That's perfect. You guys are here so hard, you should definitely stay a few more days this time."

Zhang Weifang picked up the cup and took two sips. There was a faint fragrance of green tea, which just suppressed the nausea in her stomach.

The house is decorated in a simple yet warm style, with white walls and cement floors. There is a wooden bench, two high-end spring sofas, and a wooden coffee table in the living room.

There is a teapot, fruits, melon seeds and candies on the coffee table, and a sewing machine and a radio in the corner. Each one is attractive, which shows how wealthy the family is.

Lu Hongwei is only 36 years old, 8 years younger than Zhang Jiuling. When Zhang Jiuling retired from the battlefield, he was directly assigned to Nanshan City. The organization asked the Women's Federation to arrange partners for these older soldiers.

Zhang Jiuling picked and chose but no one was suitable for him. Finally, in order to complete the task, Lv Hongwei took the initiative to "contribute" himself.

Lv Hongwei looks similar to Zhang Weifang, both are petite. Lv Hongwei loves beauty and dresses fashionably and beautifully every day. Zhang Jiuling fell in love with her at first sight. After they got married, they had two sons and a daughter and lived a happy life.

What made Lv Hongwei most satisfied was that the Zhang family knew their limits and never bothered them with anything or asked them for money.

This was the first time that Zhang Weifang’s family members asked them for help, so the couple took it very seriously.

After everyone chatted for a while, Lv Hongwei prepared to cook. She has excellent cooking skills and prepared each dish very delicately.

The potato shreds were distinct, the eggs were brightly colored, and the shredded meat was covered in rich broth, sweet and sour and delicious. This was the best meal Zhang Weifang had recently.

Zhang Weifang originally wanted to help, but she was not needed at all. She ended up helping to wash the dishes.

At lunch time, Zhang Jiuling still hadn't returned, but his three children had.

The eldest daughter, Zhang Qingyun, is only 13 years old. She looks like her father, with a long face and small eyes. She is very tall, almost 170cm.

The two sons, 11-year-old Zhang Qingshan and 9-year-old Zhang Qingchun, look like their mother, with fair and clean round faces, sunny and handsome.

The three children are well-educated and very polite. I greeted them warmly when I saw them.

Zhang Qingyun also asked Zhang Weifang about interesting things in the countryside. Many people are going to the countryside now, and she was also a little moved by what her classmates said.

When Zhang Weifang heard her idea, she quickly stopped her:

"Qingyun, farm work is not easy, otherwise why do people in the countryside want to find a job?"

"Sister, isn't it said that rural people have food in the fields and won't starve?"

"Who told you that? All year round, we eat cornmeal and bean flour. In winter, we eat sweet potatoes and radishes every day. There's no oil, no meat."

"Ah? Is it so miserable? I heard it from my classmates!" After hearing these actual situations, Zhang Qingyun lost interest in going to the countryside.

She is in her rebellious stage now. Apart from going to school, she wants to try everything, which makes Lu Hongwei very worried. Fortunately, Zhang Weifang dissuaded her from going to the countryside.

The two younger ones, like their older sister, were very bold and often fought and skipped school. Zhang Jiuling had been called to school many times.

Now the struggle has reached a fever pitch. In order to prevent others from finding fault with him, he plans to send his three children back to his hometown temporarily.

After dinner, Lv Hongwei asked Zhang Weifang to take Hu Zi to rest for a while. There were three bedrooms in the house, and she, Zhang Weifang, lived in Zhang Qingyun's room.

Zhang Jiuyi went to the room with the two children, which had two bunk beds made of iron frames that could accommodate four people.

Everything about this building is good except for the lack of a bathroom. The bathroom is at the corner of each floor and is shared. The water room is also shared.

Zhang Weifang helped Hu Zi wash his face and feet, and then fell asleep with him. Perhaps the motion sickness had some aftereffects, and she still felt a little uncomfortable.

Sleeping in someone else's house always makes one feel uneasy. An hour later, Zhang Weifang woke up. There was no movement in the living room, so she had to continue lying in bed.

After a while, Zhang Weifang heard the door open, and then heard voices coming from the living room, so she got dressed and went out.

"Weifang, have you had a good rest? Come, have some apple." Lu Hongwei was sitting on the sofa drinking tea, and Zhang Jiuyi was sitting next to him.

Zhang Weifang didn't hesitate and ate an apple. The apples at that time were not big, but they tasted good, sweet and juicy.

Hu Zi was still asleep and the three adults had nothing to do, so Zhang Jiuyi opened the sack he brought.

In addition to Zhang Weifang’s box, there were also some cornmeal, soybean flour, sweet potatoes, sauerkraut and the like, all of which were specialties from his hometown.

Lv Hongwei was very happy to see the sauerkraut:

"Oh, Jiuling has been talking about the pickled cabbage from his hometown these past few days. Let's eat it tonight."

Zhang Weifang also likes to eat noodles mixed with sauerkraut, tofu and vermicelli, but it tastes better when mixed with white noodles, as cornmeal noodles don’t taste good.

In the afternoon, Lv Hongwei took them for a stroll in Nanshan City. The department store in Nanshan City is also three stories high and has a richer variety of items.

Lu Hongwei bought some biscuits for Hu Zi and a lot of cloth for his family.

Zhang Weifang fell in love with a red plaid shirt at first sight. After trying it on and finding it fit her perfectly, she spent a huge amount of money to buy it.

Zhang Jiuyi looked at her and shook his head. It was 18 yuan. Why did he have to buy that piece of clothing?

Lu Hongwei is now very low-key, and he still spent more than 30 yuan in the afternoon.

Zhang Jiuyi didn't buy anything. He was just feeling sorry for the woman. She thought women were too generous with their money. It was a good thing he didn't get married.

Hu Zi was very happy to come to a strange place, especially when he saw the children playing with wooden guns. He was so excited that he didn't want to go home.

Finally, Zhang Jiuyi took him to play in the yard until dark before going upstairs.

Only Lv Hongwei and Zhang Weifang were left at home, and Lv Hongwei asked Zhang Weifang the reason for the divorce.

"Weifang, how did it suddenly come to this?"

"Second Aunt, I don't know either. Maybe we are not destined to be together!" Zhang Weifang has let it go now, but she still feels a little sad occasionally.

"Now that you've come this far, you can't regret it. You're still young. Once you have a job, you can find a new one if you meet the right one."

"Well, let's talk about it later. I'm not thinking too much about it now."

In the evening, Zhang Jiuling came home from get off work and everyone chatted warmly for a long time.

Zhang Jiuling was tall and thin, with a typical Zhang family appearance, a long face, small eyes, and big ears. It is said that people like him tend to live longer.

After the greetings, Zhang Jiuling got down to business:

"Weifang, there are two jobs that are suitable for you now. Choose one."

"Yeah." Zhang Weifang was immediately delighted when she heard that there were two jobs to choose from. There must be one suitable one among the two, right?
