In June, the central government issued a series of policies, including terminating the listing of real estate companies, prohibiting banks from lending to real estate companies, raising bank interest rates and tightening credit, which burst the real estate bubble in Hainan.
Many investors and homebuyers suffered huge losses and fell into despair. In contrast to their enthusiastic expressions of surprise a while ago, Lin Xiuyao stood on the roadside for a day. He wanted to remember this scene so that he could stay sober and avoid greed when doing business in the future.
Tang Yanghua came to see Lin Xiuyao the next day, still feeling apprehensive. "I didn't expect the situation to change so quickly," he said, putting his arm around Lin Xiuyao's shoulder. "Brother, if you hadn't reminded me, I don't know what I'd be doing now. I won't waste any more polite words. If you need me in the future, just tell me. I'll go through fire and water for you."
If he hadn't seen Lin Xiuyao selling off his properties a few months ago and asked out of curiosity, and Lin Xiuyao explained that he felt the current real estate market was too exaggerated and used the Clivia incident as an example, he would not have been able to escape and would now be one of the bankrupts.
Lin Xiuyao laughed, "You're exaggerating. It's just my guess. You have to wake up on your own." He deliberately let Tang Yanghua know that he was selling the property, hoping to help his brother. However, if he didn't listen to his advice, Lin Xiuyao wouldn't interfere too much. Fortunately, Tang Yanghua was not a stubborn person.
Tang Yanghua pulled him and said, "Come on, I'll treat you to a seafood restaurant."
They drove to the best restaurant, and Tang Yanghua said to the waiter, "Bring us the best food and wine in your restaurant." He acted like a rich tycoon.
Lin Xiuyao thought he'd never be able to learn this kind of behavior. He was a low-key person, perhaps because of his early years in the black market, he liked to play dumb and not show off his wealth. "Brother Tang, take it easy, it's just the two of us," Lin Xiuyao advised.
"Don't be polite with me," Tang Yanghua said with mixed feelings, "I won't go home until I'm drunk today." In a short while, he drank half a bottle of white wine.
"You said, this world is so fickle," he said, his eyes drunken. "I saw him build a tall building, and I saw it collapse."
Lin Xiuyao ate his food in silence. Brother Tang was quite artistic. He couldn't understand why Hainan, as the only provincial-level special economic zone, had attracted a large influx of population and capital. The situation was originally very good, so how could it have come to this?
And there will be more problems coming here, such as unemployment, debt, lawsuits, migration, crime, and those unfinished buildings.
Lin Xiuyao thought that he should go back and sort out Hainan’s policies in recent years. He still had a lot to learn.
Tang Yanghua got drunk very quickly, but luckily he had a good alcohol tolerance. Lin Xiuyao found a waiter, and the two of them struggled to put him in the car.
He sent Tang Yanghua to his hotel and drove home. Tang asked him not to be polite, so he didn't. Lin Xiuyao found the landlady and said, "I want to go home. I don't want to rent this house anymore."
The elder sister was quite nice. "Then I'll refund you the rest of your rent."
Lin Xiuyao waved his hand and said, "There's only one month left, no need. Thank you for your care during this period." When he was alone, the landlord often brought him food, which was quite warm.
He went back to the room to pack his luggage for tomorrow's train ticket back to Shanghai. Although flying would be faster, buying tickets would take too much time and he was already eager to go home.
The next morning, Lin Xiuyao returned the keys to the landlord with his luggage and drove to the hotel. The elder sister looked at the car driving away and sighed, "They're all gone." She felt that her hometown was not as prosperous as before. When there were many people, she disliked the noise of outsiders. Now that there were fewer people, it felt deserted.
When Lin Xiuyao arrived at the hotel, Tang Yanghua was still asleep. He knocked on the door for a long time before he dazedly came over to open the door. "Why are you here so early?"
"I'm going home today. Can you drive me to the train station?"
"You're leaving today? In such a hurry?" Tang Yanghua sobered up. "I wanted to go with you. I haven't been to Shanghai before, so I'd like to go there and spend a few days."
Lin Xiuyao: "You probably can't buy a ticket for this train now. You can leave by yourself in a few days." He would not stay and wait for anyone.
"Are you in such a hurry? Do you have something urgent?" he asked curiously.
Lin Xiuyao: "I miss my son."
Tang Yanghua raised his eyebrows, his expression still as charming as ever, "You miss Comrade Su, right?"
"I really don't understand. You two have been married for such a long time, why are you still so sweet? Aren't you tired of it?" Every time he gets a girlfriend, he loses patience after a few months of novelty, so he is really curious.
"Of course you, a playboy, don't understand." Lin Xiuyao didn't want to tell him how good Su Qingmeng was. It was enough for his wife to know. "Go wash up quickly, have breakfast and send me off."
It was already July when Lin Xiuyao stepped foot on the land of Shanghai again. It was evening when he got home. Kang Kang had already gone to bed, but Su Qingmeng was waiting for him. When she heard the knock on the door, she opened it and said, "You're back."
"I'm back," Lin Xiuyao hugged Su Qingmeng tightly and turned around.
Su Qingmeng patted his shoulder and said, "Put me down. I'm wearing pajamas and you've soiled my clothes."
Lin Xiuyao put down the suitcase and carried his wife to the bathroom, "Just wash it and it will be clean."
Su Qingmeng felt that his eyes were turning green. "I just need to change my clothes, you can wash yourself, I'm going out." After saying that, she gestured to Lin Xiuyao to let her go.
Lin Xiuyao grinned, "What good things are you thinking about?" He turned on the faucet, "I won't let you leave."
When Su Qingmeng fell asleep exhausted, Lin Xiuyao held her in his arms, enjoying the sense of security with someone in his arms. Tang Yanghua would never understand, how could he possibly get tired of his wife who was so good? For many other couples, love would turn into family affection after years of marriage, but he would always love Su Qingmeng passionately, and there would always be love between them.
Lin Xiuyao felt as if a mountain was crushing his head in his sleep. He struggled to wake up. Kang Kang was lying on top of him. "Dad, you're finally back."
"My dear son, you've gained weight again," Lin Xiuyao weighed Kang Kang, "Have you been listening to your mother at home?"
Kang Kang: "I'm a good boy, even better than my dad."
"Really?" He got up, holding his son. "Why am I not being good?"
"You're not home." Kang Kang said confidently.
Lin Xiuyao explained himself, "Dad did have something to do, but he won't be away for so long in the future."
Su Qingmeng was putting on makeup at the dressing table. He asked, "Wife, do you have anything to do today?"
Su Qingmeng: "It's the weekend today. Sister Wenxi and I have an appointment to go shopping. You can stay at home and take care of the children."
