In Beijing, the train station is bustling with people.
It is now the time when college students return to school, and the entrances and exits are crowded with people.
People from my hometown arrived in Beijing today, and Lin Xiuyao and Kang Kang were waiting at the exit.
"Dad, are you thirsty? There's soda for sale over there." Kang Kang said, fanning himself with a folding fan.
"Have a bottle."
Kang Kang rubbed his thumb and index finger together to signal.
Lin Xiuyao laughed and said, "Take the money. This kid is a stingy person now. He only takes in and never spends."
"Hey, I'm going to buy some water."
Kang Kang took two bottles of soda and gave one to Lin Xiuyao, "Why hasn't it arrived yet?"
"It's late." After drinking the cool soda, Lin Xiuyao felt much cooler.
He has been living a life of luxury for too long and now he can't stand the heat.
After waiting for more than ten minutes, Lin Baoguo and his group appeared at the exit. Several of them were carrying large and small bags. Although they were well dressed, they looked cramped.
"Uncle, aunt, third uncle, third aunt, second sister, second brother-in-law." Lin Xiuyao greeted them one by one.
In addition to several elders, Lin Tang and Lin Erlan's three children also came.
It was the first time for several people to come to Kyoto. They looked around with curiosity and excitement. "This train station is so magnificent," exclaimed my uncle.
Lin Xiuyao and Kang Kang took the luggage and said, "Let's go home first. We're tired after sitting on the train all day. We can go shopping later when we have time."
He hired two taxis, plus his family's car, a total of three cars, to accommodate so many people.
Lin Xiuyao was driving his own car, with his uncle, aunt, and Lin Tang sitting in the car.
The three of them looked at the passing scenery through the car window.
Uncle: "Is that Tiananmen Square? Can I go down and take a look?"
"Okay." Lin Xiuyao stopped the car, and the taxi behind him also stopped.
"What's wrong?" Kang Kang came over and asked.
"Your great-grandfather wants to see Tiananmen Square. Let's leave later."
Several elderly people looked at the photos of the great man with tears in their eyes. They never thought that they would be able to see him here in their lifetime.
Lin Erlan's youngest daughter, Ren Shengnan, said excitedly: "I saw Tiananmen Square on TV, but it was still as shocking as being there."
A seed was planted in her heart, and she decided to get into a university in Beijing in the future.
After everyone calmed down, Lin Xiuyao said, "Go home first. You can come back tomorrow."
Everyone got back on the bus and arrived at the courtyard in just over ten minutes.
The taxi left, and Lin Xiuyao and the driver agreed to come back tomorrow morning.
"Wow!" Ren Dongdong walked in and took a look around, exclaiming, "It's so beautiful and so big!"
Although the others were not as happy as the children, they could not help but look surprised when they saw such a grand house.
I had only heard about it back home, and although I knew that Lin Xiuyao had a big business, it was only after coming to Beijing that I felt it firsthand.
He has such a big yard in Beijing and a car.
Their nephew/brother/third uncle is so awesome, they thought to themselves with admiration.
Su Qingmeng greeted everyone one by one and led them to sit down in the living room. In order to welcome the relatives from her hometown, all the furniture in stock in the space was taken out.
When Kang Kang grew up, Lin Xiuyao drove out for a walk and pretended to have bought some tables, chairs and a wooden bed.
"Great grandfather, great grandmother, third grandfather, third grandmother, second aunt, second uncle, and several sisters."
Kang Kang came over like a servant, carrying iced juice, cola, and herbal tea. "What are you guys drinking?"
Lin Tang was amused. This little brother is really interesting.
…
Everyone ate, drank and chatted until evening came.
Lin Xiuyao went out and brought the food back with two waiters.
A restaurant not far from home offered home delivery. Su Qingmeng didn't feel like cooking, and Lin Xiuyao didn't want to let his wife cook for a dozen people in the middle of summer, so he reserved a table in advance.
The eldest aunt took Su Qingmeng's hand and said, "It's too expensive, Qingmeng."
"It's a rare opportunity for you to come here, so please feel free to eat, drink and have fun. Don't be polite." Su Qingmeng said.
The aunt thought her niece-in-law was open-minded.
Lin Erlan listened to the two people talking with a smile. Her brother really made the right choice in marrying this daughter-in-law.
She had to tell Xiu Yao to treat his wife well and not to have any illicit thoughts.
Running a shop in the city, she has seen many men become bad when they have money, but her brother cannot be like that.
There were chicken, fish, prawns and pork ribs. Adults and children all enjoyed the meal very much. Lin Xiuyao also had a few drinks with the two old people.
After all, this is his own home and he feels safe there. He rarely drinks outside for fear that his head will be confused and he will be slow to react if something happens.
Moreover, as the host, it would be embarrassing if I didn't accompany my guests.
The meal lasted until the moon was at its highest point in the sky. Su Qingmeng asked Kang Kang to take the dishes back to the restaurant while she washed them herself.
Qiuqiu followed and cleaned up, "Aunt, let me wash it."
"Yes, let the child wash," Lin Erlan said, "Sister-in-law, come over and sit down, let's continue talking."
Okay, Su Qingmeng was not such a virtuous and considerate daughter-in-law in the old Lin family. "Qiuqiu, you are done washing, put the stuff in that cabinet."
Lin Erlan saw Su Qingmeng coming over and started asking about the university. "Sister-in-law, Qiuqiu's school..."
——
At night, master bedroom.
The couple lay in bed.
Lin Xiuyao hugged his wife from behind and said, "It's great to meet you."
"What's wrong? Why are you suddenly so sentimental?" Su Qingmeng asked.
"Uncle has been praising me for being so great today," Lin Xiuyao said in a low voice, "but I feel that if it weren't for you, I might still be a poor boy from the countryside."
"Don't underestimate yourself." Su Qingmeng turned around and hugged him. "Even without me, you can still leave the countryside and achieve something."
After all, he dared to engage in speculation and profiteering in the 1970s, and after the reform and opening up, he could no longer stay in the countryside.
