Chapter 64 Siheyuan

I've been busy with final exams and moving recently, so I've been keeping my clothes since they were delivered. Now's a good time to sell them. The New Year is almost here, and who doesn't want to buy new clothes?

Xidan is more prosperous. This year, there are more individual businesses in Beijing. Lin Xiuyao sells clothes, and Su Qingmeng strolls around the market. There are many stalls selling handicrafts.

Now that she has more space at home, she has room to display her ornaments. She's selling a complete set of hairy monkeys, made from medicinal herbs. They're lifelike, with some pulling carts, some beating gongs, some operating teahouses, and some drinking tea, all showcasing the myriad aspects of life in old Beijing. She also has colorful sculptures of "rabbit gods" and "bristle figurines," reminiscent of later figurines, which are also worth buying to display at home.

There were also many snack stalls. Su Qingmeng bought some lamb skewers and went to find Lin Xiuyao to eat together.

By the time Lin Xiuyao had sold all the clothes, it was almost Chinese New Year, and the festive atmosphere was very strong at that time. They posted couplets and blessing characters on the door, hung red lanterns on the gate, and covered the windows with paper-cuts.

There is a building called 'Red Plum Blossoms in Winter' in the space. She dug out the plum blossoms and transplanted them under the courtyard wall to add a touch of red to the New Year.

Lin Xiuyao: "I'm a little busy. Uncle, I sent you some mail. Please help me burn some paper for my parents during the New Year."

Lin Baoguo: "Okay, anything else?" "No." "Then hang up. Bye."

Phone calls are very expensive these days, so when something comes up, just say it briefly and don’t waste time.
