As spring turned to autumn, Beijing held a marathon. Su Qingmeng and her friends wore sportswear and watched the excitement in the crowd. She liked to participate in marathon events in modern times, but unfortunately citizens could not sign up. However, she pulled Lin Xiuyao over to watch and take photos.
A lot of people gathered in Tiananmen Square, with soldiers and police maintaining public order. The starting gun sounded, and the athletes began the competition. The TV station's filming car filmed the live broadcast, and the cheers from the scene were boiling. Su Qingmeng also excitedly cheered for the Chinese athletes.
More than two hours later, the Swedish athlete won the championship. Although she was a little disappointed, she was still very happy to witness today's sporting event.
Lin Xiuyao: "Wife, the game is over, let's go home!" Su Qingmeng was too excited today and kept shouting, saying that she wanted to drink some honeysuckle tea when she got home.
Su Qingmeng pulled him to a corner and said, "Wait until most of the people have left before coming back." She was afraid of a stampede.
The crowd gradually disappeared, and the two found a bicycle shed, paid and picked up the bicycles. "Why don't we go eat Baodu?" There happened to be a delicious restaurant nearby, and it was a rare opportunity to come.
Lin Xiuyao turned a corner. Of course, he couldn't refuse his wife's request. After dinner, he went to Chongwenmen Vegetable Market to buy vegetables. The variety of vegetables here was complete. Autumn was coming, and they always bought more meat, vegetables, and fruits and put them in the space to eat in winter.
On Saturday, He Rui came to Su Qingmeng's workplace and asked her to have dinner with her the next day. Her internship was at the municipal government's secretariat office, which was quite close to Su Qingmeng.
Su Qingmeng invited her, "Why don't you come to my house for dinner? You haven't been there since we moved!" He Rui came to her house for dinner several times when she lived near the university.
He Rui agreed readily: "Okay, I don't even know where you moved to?" "Dashihu Hutong," Su Qingmeng described the route to her. There was no navigation now, so they had to ask for directions.
On the day off, He Rui was standing at the door of Su Qingmeng's house with a bag of fruit. She was surprised. She didn't expect that her classmate was a rich person. The house was so big.
She went forward and knocked on the door. A few minutes later, Su Qingmeng came to open the door and said, "You're here. Come in."
He Rui followed her inside, looking around in surprise, "This house is so nice," and saw the clusters of flowers in the yard, "You also planted flowers? They are so beautiful." There is no woman who doesn't like flowers.
She was a little curious about how Su Qingmeng could afford such an expensive house. He Rui had also studied in Beijing for a few years and knew that courtyard houses like this were very expensive. As far as she knew, Su Qingmeng's family was a working-class family, and her partner was from the countryside, and both his parents had passed away. Logically, the two of them didn't look like rich people.
Su Qingmeng took her to the west wing's living room, where there were sofas and tea and snacks on the table. "It would be a waste to leave it empty. I like flowers, so I planted them. Just looking at them makes me feel better."
It is autumn now. The golden osmanthus is fragrant and the hydrangeas have faded. She has planted chrysanthemums and the yard is golden.
He Rui was really curious and asked, "How much does this yard cost?" Seeing Su Qingmeng make a "two" sign, he was secretly shocked.
She has also been considering buying a house recently. If nothing unexpected happens, she will stay in Beijing. She doesn't know when her company will allocate housing, but she also wants to have her own home.
When I was an educated youth, I lived with others. When I went to school, I also lived in a dormitory. Now I live by myself at the company. The single dormitory is less than 10 square meters and I can't even cook.
He Rui inquired: "How much does a house near your university cost?"
Su Qingmeng thought for a moment and said, "That house cost nine hundred." That happened several years ago, so she didn't remember it very well.
He Rui sighed, "Ah, I went to see one a few days ago. It's in the North City area. It's about the same size as yours and costs 1,500 yuan."
"Housing is becoming increasingly scarce for educated youth returning to the city, and housing prices are rising." Furthermore, the housing in the old city is different from that in Haidian District. Su Qingmeng asked, "Do you want to buy a house?"
"I want to stay in Beijing after graduation and not go back to Suzhou." As a student of Peking University, it is easy to stay in Beijing. She had been working in the countryside for three years before going to college. She no longer had her own room at home, and she did not miss the warmth of her family. The capital is more conducive to her career development than her hometown.
"So what kind do you want to buy?"
He Rui: "A house with its own door and yard and two rooms is enough. I've looked at several houses, but none of them are suitable." The price of apartment buildings is higher, and she doesn't want to live in a slum.
"Why don't you just wait a little longer? We'll graduate in two months, and we'll see where you'll be assigned then," Su Qingmeng said. "You bought a house now, but what if it's far away from your workplace?"
He Rui: "Well, I'll just take a look first."
Su Qingmeng: "If you don't want to live in the dormitory, you can live in my previous house. It hasn't been rented out yet!"
She was afraid of meeting an unreliable tenant, so she hadn't rented it out yet. Renting it to He Rui would be no problem; they had known each other for so long, and she knew her kind of person.
He Rui said, "Let's talk about it after graduation." It was only two months away, and she didn't want to bother anymore. "Can I visit your house?"
"Okay!" Su Qingmeng took her around and introduced the functions of each room.
Lin Xiuyao was reading in the study. When he saw them passing by, he came out and said, "I'm going to cook."
He Rui was used to it. Every time she came to Qingmeng's house, it was Lin who cooked. She was quite embarrassed at first, but now she is used to it. "Is this the study? The furniture looks like the style of the Qing Dynasty."
Su Qingmeng nodded, "You have good taste." After walking around, the two returned to the west wing to chat.
He Rui asked: "Have you seen other classmates recently?"
Su Qingmeng: "I met Tang Qiuyu last month when I went to Donglaishun for dinner. No one else has seen her."
He Rui: "I haven't seen them for a long time. I wonder how they are doing!" Beijing is quite big and everyone's internship units are different, so it's not easy to meet them.
