Chapter 74 Pregnancy

Su Qingmeng has started school. The new semester is indeed free. Most of the theoretical knowledge has been completed, and only a few subjects are left. Now she is following her tutor to research the topic and help collect and organize information. She resigned from her position as an assistant teacher and is now preparing for pregnancy. She cannot work hard after pregnancy.

Tang Qiuyu came back to school after her confinement. She has a plump figure. Before she got pregnant, she was thin, but now she is a little fat.

Su Qingmeng sorted out her notes and lent them to her. The two of them whispered, "Sister Qiuyu, how will the baby feed if you come to school?"

Tang Qiuyu whispered in her ear, "I pumped milk out and put it in the refrigerator before I left this morning. The baby's hungry, so the nanny feeds him with a bottle."

Su Qingmeng nodded. It turned out that breast pumps were already available at that time. She learned something.

That day, Lin Erlan wrote to tell him she had given birth to a daughter, born on the second day of the second lunar month, the day when the dragon raises its head. She didn't say much in the letter, but Lin Xiuyao was a little worried.

Lin Xiuyao called back to the village. Lin Erlan was now in confinement after giving birth. He contacted his second aunt to inquire about the situation, and she said that his in-laws were not very satisfied.

Lin Xiuyao frowned, "What about Second Sister?" Third Aunt: "Erlan is also a little unhappy."

"Aunt San, please persuade my second sister more. It doesn't matter whether it's a boy or a girl now. Besides, a daughter is her mother's little cotton-padded jacket. If you train her well to become a college student, she will be more filial than a son in the future." Lin Xiuyao said.

Third Aunt agreed repeatedly, "I will say this to your second sister, Xiu Yao, thank you, Second Aunt." This second boy from the second family is really good. He cares about his second daughter even though he is so far away in the capital.

In March, Lin Xiuyao went south to stock up on new products for the changing season. The night before he left, Su Qingmeng reminded him, "See what baby products are available and buy some. Especially diapers. I remember they're available in Hong Kong now. If you can't find them, you can just wash diapers!"

"I guarantee to complete the mission." He saluted in a formal manner.

"Be careful. This year we're cracking down on this issue. Be careful."

Lin Xiuyao held her in his arms and said, "Don't worry, I'll be fine. After I leave, you can ride your motorcycle to school." The two of them learned to ride together last year, and Su Qingmeng also knew how to ride.

"No, I'd better take the bus. It's too conspicuous." Before, when Lin Xiuyao went to see her off, she didn't let him take her to the school gate.

Lin Xiuyao boarded the train to the south. The temperature in Pengcheng was over 20 degrees Celsius. In Beijing, one had to wear a sweater, but here people only wore shorts and short sleeves during the day.

Lin Xiuyao went to a familiar garment factory to choose styles. He took the samples and chose with Su Qingmeng in the space at night. She had better taste than him, and the two of them discussed the styles together.

After settling down, they were affectionate for a while before Lin Xiuyao went out. He didn't dare to disappear for too long when he was out.

After ordering the goods needed for the store and shipping them home, Lin Xiuyao also imported a lot of goods from various factories and stored them in his space. He would set up a stall to sell them when he had time, or sell them to resellers at a lower price. His trip couldn't be in vain; he had to bring back as much as possible. Besides, his wife was expecting, so he wouldn't be able to come over then.

When Lin Xiuyao was buying cloth at the fabric factory, he found a lot of red defective cloth in their warehouse. The problem was uneven dyeing.

He remembered that Su Qingmeng had used this fabric to make a skirt a few years ago. The receptionist saw him staring at the unqualified fabric and said, "Brother Lin, those are all defective and cannot be used."

He asked for several batches of cloth as samples, and asked Su Qingmeng in the space at night, "Do you think this kind of cloth can be used to make clothes?"

Su Qingmeng touched it and found the material to be good, but the dyeing was uneven, with the color lighter in the middle. This gradient color would look great on a cake dress. "Okay, how much is it?"

Lin Xiuyao: "This is discarded fabric. If I take all of it, it should be very cheap."

Su Qingmeng: "I remember red dresses were popular in the mid-1980s. You can buy some and make them into skirts and sell them later."

Lin Xiuyao went to the commercial street to buy baby products, including the diapers that Su Qingmeng specifically requested, baby milk powder, clothes, toys, and various other items. He bought a lot of them.

While shopping, Lin Xiuyao ran into a Hong Kong businessman he knew, an electrical appliance dealer. Seeing him, he stopped by to say hello and ask if he had any more pearls. The pearls he'd gotten from Lin Xiuyao were exceptionally good, large and round, and he'd doubled his profit by reselling them.

Lin Xiuyao did have some left. Last time he came here to sell a batch, he only had about forty left. He still used barter to add another ten thousand yuan and bought a batch of electrical appliances from the Hong Kong businessman: twenty televisions, ten refrigerators, and ten washing machines.

More people were watching this appliance, so he didn't put it directly in the space. Instead, he contacted a large truck to pull it out of the city and asked them to unload the goods at a warehouse on the roadside. He said he had contacted the transport team, and it was almost evening, so he put the goods in the space and bought a ticket back to Beijing overnight.

He had checked the time in advance and knew that there were indeed many large trucks passing by here at night. It was dark and no one knew which truck he got on.

When he got home, Lin Xiuyao described his purchasing experience in vivid detail. Su Qingmeng praised him for his prudence. It happened that the clothes he had mailed back first had arrived. The goods from the garment factory were all mailed to his home, and he would sort them out (mainly to make it easier to smuggle in private goods) and put them in the store for sale.

Spring has arrived, and Su Qingmeng sowed flower seeds in the yard. After the reform and opening up, the flower market in Beijing has become more prosperous. This year, she bought new flower seeds and prepared to plant rhododendrons.

Lin Xiuyao went home. He had gone out for dinner with his classmates today. He came to help plant the flowers. "Wife, a classmate of mine wants to borrow money." "Who is it?"

Lin Xiuyao: "Student Councillor, you've met him. His wife and children have come to Beijing and have been renting a house. Today, he asked me to borrow 300 yuan to buy a house."

Su Qingmeng recalled that his student council member was a big man with a square face. "Do you want to borrow it?" Seeing Lin Xiuyao nod, he said, "It's up to you, but remember to ask the other party to write an IOU."
