Chapter 28

Chapter 28

"Okay." Xie Que nodded and stepped out of the elevator with Jing Xiebai.

The structure of the morgue is very simple, with a corridor three meters wide and ten meters long. Except for a utility room facing the elevator, the rest is the morgue.

The doors of all the rooms were closed, except for the door of the room at the end of the corridor, which was wide open, with light coming through and a faint smell of corpse.

"Which room do you want to go to first?" Xie pointed at the door and turned around to ask Jing Xie Bai.

"Okay." Jing Xiebai nodded and motioned Xie Que to follow him.

"There's a lot of yin energy here, but there aren't any other ghosts. Be careful and don't act rashly."

Their current situation is very bad. They don’t know when the evil spirit will appear, so they can only be careful.

"Yeah." Xie Que responded and followed Jing Xiebai into the room.

Fifteen corpses were placed haphazardly on the ground, leaving almost no room to step. The freezer was open, revealing a mixture of blood and internal organs. An indescribable odor filled the air, causing Xie Que to feel nauseous.

"What is this?" Xie walked in, covering his nose. He looked into the freezer and realized that it was full of animal organs, not human ones.

"Why do you kill animals and only take the internal organs?"

After observing the internal organs, Xie Que immediately retreated back to Jing Xiebai, frowning and showing disgust on his face.

"This is the Unsealing Technique." Jing Xiebai was very calm. "This evil spirit has been sealed for at least a hundred years. Someone broke the seal and released it, and then immediately fed it a blood sacrifice, so its strength increased greatly."

Although exorcists value inheritance, some techniques will always disappear in the long river of history. Techniques like "Zhuyoushu" and "Ghost Gate Thirteen Needles" only exist in legends.

The art of unsealing was a popular technique a hundred years ago, but few people have mastered it nowadays.

"If you connect the positions of these internal organs, you can see the mystery."

Xie was stunned for a moment, and carefully avoided the corpse. After checking each freezer one by one, he took out the registration book hanging on the door and drew a map of the locations according to his memory.

"Is this the unsealing technique?" Xie looked at the strange pattern on the paper with some curiosity.

"Hmm? Let me see." Jing Xiebai took the registration book from Xie Que, glanced at it, and said affirmatively: "Yes, that's it."

When Jing Xiebai was eighteen years old, he sneaked into the secret room of his own home and read all the magic books inside. He had a good understanding of the art of unsealing.

"What on earth is Chen Shan trying to do? He went through so much trouble just to deal with us?"

Xie was a little unsure. Given Chen Shan's strength, was it necessary for him to resort to such a circuitous approach? Or did he have other plans?

"Don't think about it, just look at the corpse." Jing Xiebai interrupted Xie Que's thoughts, walked to the corpse, squatted down, took out a talisman for rebirth, and tentatively injected spiritual power into it.

The talisman paper burned as usual, emitting a light blue light, but it burned up the moment it touched the corpse, turning into ashes and falling to the ground.

"Sure enough." Jing Xiebai stood up, not too surprised.

The corpse has lost its soul after the blood sacrifice, and the talisman for rebirth has no effect.

"Do you want to see more?" Xie tore off the paper with the unsealing technique and put it in his pocket.

"Let's not look at it anymore. Let's go to the cleaning room." Jing Xiebai hooked his arm around Xie Que's shoulders, pulled him towards him, and rubbed Xie Que's head. "Let's go out and ask Yu Cheng to check. He should be able to find some information about the evil spirit."

There must be relevant records about the sealing of a ghost of this level. After checking, it will be easier to figure out Chen Shan’s purpose.

"Yeah." Xie did not resist and went out with Jing Xiebai.

"Which floor is the cleaning room?" Jing Xiebai pressed the elevator button, but the elevator door did not open. Instead, it showed that it was going up.

?

Is anyone in the elevator?

Jing Xiebai's face changed and he subconsciously took out the talisman paper and threw it forward.

The talisman paper hit the elevator door, but there was no change.

Xie Que: "What's going on?"

The elevator was still going up and only started to go down after reaching the top floor.

"Has anyone else come in?" Xie frowned. Since the talisman paper was useless, it meant that everything in front of him was not an illusion. Could there be other people in this hospital?

No, Xie quickly denied this idea. The door disappeared after they came in. If someone really entered the hospital, they should not be in the same space as them.

“Squeak—”

While Xie Que was thinking, a strange sound suddenly came from the morgue not far away. He instantly tensed his body, looked up and accurately found the source of the sound.

"Is there anyone?" Jing Xiebai held Youzhong in his hand, standing in front of Xie Que with a serious expression.

"I don't know, let's go and take a look." Xie took a deep breath, took out the talisman paper, held it in his hand, and walked forward.

The sound did not disappear. Instead, the closer you got to the source of the sound, the clearer you could hear it.

Xie Que and the other two stopped outside the door and carefully observed inside through the half-open door.

Unlike the previous morgue, this house was obviously much more dilapidated. There were several cracks on the walls and large water marks on the ceiling. However, the freezer had not changed much and looked out of place.

The strange noise they heard earlier was the sound of the freezer opening and closing. Just when Xie wanted to observe carefully, he keenly realized that something was wrong.

"Someone is here!" He stepped back suddenly and pulled Jing Xiebai into the next room.

However, Xie held the door handle tightly, bent down, put his ear to the door, and listened carefully to the movement in the next room.

The man probably didn't notice their presence, as the footsteps quickly disappeared.

After a while, Xie Que stood up and lowered his voice to quickly tell Jing Xiebai what he had just seen.

"Is there a crack on the wall?" Jing Xiebai frowned.

"Hmm." Xie Que recalled the location and length of the crack, compared it to Jing Xiebai, thought for a moment, and then asked, "Engineering problem?"

"I don't know." Jing Xiebai shook his head, took out a stack of talisman paper from his arms, handed it to Xie Que, and said, "Go out and take a look."

They have too few clues now, and random guesses may backfire and take them further away from the truth.

"Okay." Xie nodded, not thinking about it. He gently opened the door a crack, and only opened it after making sure there was no one outside.

"What if he comes back suddenly?" Xie was a little worried.

"Don't be afraid, let's end this quickly." Jing Xiebai took the lead in opening the door of the next room.

The room layout was pretty much the same as before, with only the broken walls and dim incandescent lights.

Xie looked at the slightly yellowed wall, feeling a little distressed: "What's going on?"

No matter how newly renovated the walls were, it was impossible for them to be so severely oxidized. Even if this morgue had been there for a long time, it was impossible for it to be left alone without renovations. When the hospital was completed, someone would come to inspect it. It was impossible for such a dilapidated morgue to be left here.

Xie was a little unsure about the current situation. He sighed slightly, looked up at Jing Xiebai, and said in a depressed tone: "Are we not in the original space anymore?"

Just like the evil god before, they may have entered another dimension without realizing it.

Xie felt a little annoyed. If they really arrived in another space, it would be troublesome. This basically eliminated the possibility of them seeking help from the outside world.

"Not really." Jing Xiebai glanced at Xie Que and reminded him, "The city hospital is so large, it's not easy to replicate it."

"So, are we entering a new space based on the existing hospital?" Xie looked at the freezer in front of him with some hesitation, "Should we open the freezer and take a look?"

The strange noise just now was made by the freezer opening and closing. The municipal hospital hasn't opened yet, so there shouldn't be a body inside.

"Okay, you drive on the left, and I'll drive on the right." Jing Xiebai knocked on the freezer and said, "We'll take the stairs and go up one floor at a time."

Taking the elevator is too easy to alert the enemy, and it would be difficult to escape if discovered. In comparison, it is safer to take the stairs.

Xie nodded, approached the freezer, took a deep breath, and quickly opened the cabinet.

There is no body.

Xie breathed a sigh of relief and went to open the next cabinet.

An entire wall of cabinets was checked in just two or three minutes.

"I have eight bodies here, how about yours?" Jing Xiebai raised his hand to close the cabinet door, took two steps back, and observed the distribution of the bodies.

Xie Que: "Six, what's wrong?"

"It's okay, let's go."

There seemed to be nothing wrong with the placement of the body, so they had to start from other places.

Xie nodded and opened the door.

There were some medicines on the basement floor, and the door was locked, but Xie and his friends did not stay.

"The cleaning room is next to the bathroom. I'll go in front." Xie suggested.

"Yeah." Jing Xiebai nodded and went upstairs while paying attention to the situation nearby.

When he reached the stairs, Xie did not rush out, but instead stuck his head out to look around the duty room.

"There's someone in the duty room." Xie frowned slightly as he looked at the figure in front of the duty room door. They didn't know whether the person in front of them was an enemy or a friend, so the best option was to avoid contact as much as possible.

"Run to the cleaning room. There's a corner in front, and he can't see us."

Xie Que looked back at Jing Xiebai, made sure that there was no one in front of the duty room, and then rushed out quickly.

Xie Que had a strong athletic ability. He quickly ran to the cleaning room and opened the door. After Jing Xiebai came in, he locked the door again.

"Okay, you..." Xie turned around and wanted to ask Jing Xiebai about the cleaning lady's coma, but saw Jing Xiebai holding a broom with a serious look on his face.

"What's wrong?" Xie asked.

"Do you feel something is wrong?" Jing Xiebai handed the broom to Xie Que, "This broom is from a long time ago. I don't think you can buy it now."

Nowadays, plastic brooms are used. This kind of purely handmade broom is indeed rare. How could a newly built hospital use this kind of broom?

Xie took the broom, then thought of the yellowed walls of the morgue, and said uncertainly: "Do you feel that our time is going backwards?"

He remembered very clearly that when he first came in, the whole hospital was spotless. But when he ran just now, he found that there was a lot of dust on the floor, and the hospital was not as new as when he first came in.

Modern hospitals, however, reveal a sense of age everywhere, which only shows that their time is not moving forward, but backward.

"Going backwards?" Jing Xiebai frowned and questioned, "The hospital was built not long ago. If time goes backwards, what will the hospital become?"

Jing Xiebai did agree with Xie Que's statement, but it was obvious that this statement also brought more questions.

If time could go backwards, where would it stop? What would become of this hospital when time stopped? What was the evil spirit's plan for luring them in, if it didn't kill them first?

Questions popped up one after another like mushrooms after rain. The room was dead silent, but Xie stood in the middle of the room, breaking out in a cold sweat.
