"Sir, you're awake?" Su Tian asked with concern as she looked at the man who was slowly waking up.
"Um, what's wrong with me?" the man asked weakly.
"When I saw you, you were lying unconscious in that alley."
"The doctor said you had low blood sugar, and the high fever caused you to faint," Su Tian explained carefully.
"Well, thank you for saving me."
"Sir, where are your family members? Should we call them over?" Su Tian continued to ask.
"I live in the university staff quarters at Huazhong University of Science and Technology. There's no need to notify me yet. I'll be fine after my IV drip is finished," the old man said softly.
"Okay, let's wait until you finish your IV drip. I'll ask the doctor if you can be discharged. Then my friend and I will take you home."
Just then, Song Zhe returned to the hospital with a bowl of porridge, only to be stopped by Xiao Yun.
"Song Zhe, what a coincidence! Are you not feeling well? Why are you back at the hospital?"
When Song Zhe saw that it was Xiao Jing's sister, he could only patiently reply, "It's not me, someone else is sick."
"Oh, is that so? Do you need my help? I am a nurse at this hospital, after all," Xiao Yun said, feigning concern.
"No, that's not necessary. The doctor has already seen me. I'm in a hurry to deliver the porridge, so I'll be going now." After saying that, Song Zhe avoided her side and turned to leave.
Looking at Song Zhe's tall and straight figure, Xiao Yun felt extremely resentful. The way he looked at her was completely different from how he looked at that bitch Su Tian.
What's so good about that bitch? She's just a village girl from some remote mountain village. How can she compare to a respectable local girl from Beijing?
Hmph, Xiao Yun watched Song Zhe's figure walk further and further away, her hands clenched tightly, the anger in her eyes slowly being suppressed.
After calming her anger, she had no choice but to reluctantly go to work.
Before long, Song Zhe arrived at the ward carrying the porridge.
"Sir, you're awake. You can eat the porridge once it's cooled down a bit," Song Zhe said to the old man.
"Okay, thank you all. We're very grateful to you today," the old man said with a smile.
"What are your names? I'll thank you when I'm better."
"My name is Su Tian, and his name is Song Zhe. You've already thanked us, so you don't need to anymore," Su Tian said with a smile.
The old man kept staring at Su Tian; the more he looked at her smile, the more she resembled his sister who had been missing for over 20 years.
Sigh, the world is so big, there are many people who look alike.
"Sir, why are you staring at me?" Su Tian asked curiously.
"Oh, you look a lot like one of my relatives, that's why I took a second look," the old man said with a smile.
"Sir, you can eat now. Let me help you up." Song Zhe helped him up and handed the old man the large bowl of porridge.
The old man took the porridge and, while eating, asked, "Where do you live?"
“We live in the military compound,” Song Zhe replied.
"Military compound? That's a great place, a place only great heroes can live in. Your fathers were truly remarkable." A hint of surprise flashed in the old man's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.
"You flatter me, sir. Do you still feel hot?" Song Zhe asked with concern.
"It's not hot anymore, and my head doesn't feel dizzy or painful anymore," the old man said happily.
After they patiently waited for the old man to finish his porridge, Su Tian went to the doctor's office to ask, "Doctor, can that old man be discharged today after his IV drip?"
"If the fever goes down, that's fine. I'll prescribe some medicine for him to take home and rest for a few days."
"His fever has subsided, thank you doctor."
Su Tian took the prescription, paid the bill, picked up the medicine from the pharmacy, and returned to the ward.
"Sir, here is your medicine. It says how to take it. You can be discharged after the IV drip is finished."
"How much did I pay for my doctor's visit and medicine? I'll pay you back. Thank you so much for today," the old man said gratefully.
“It didn’t cost much, don’t worry about it. Now that you’re discharged, just rest at home for a few days,” Su Tian replied.
"Okay, I'll thank you when you take me back."
Half an hour later, the old man's IV drip was almost finished.
Su Tian went outside and called a nurse to help remove the needle. Then Song Zhe helped the old man slowly walk to the hospital entrance.
Su Tian quickly pushed her bicycle over. "Song Zhe, why don't you ride your bicycle and take the old gentleman back to the faculty and staff quarters of Huada University? I'll walk back myself."
When Song Zhe heard Su Tian say that, how could he bear to let a girl like her walk back alone?
It's freezing cold, and it's so far away; walking is so tiring.
Song Zhe parked the bicycle and let the old man sit on the back seat.
Then he straddled the bicycle, his long legs casually stretched out, his toes lightly touching the ground, and said gently, "Come here."
"What's wrong?" Su Tian asked him with a smile.
“You sit in front of the bicycle, and the old gentleman sits in the back; it’s just right,” Song Zhe said with a gentle smile.
"Okay, great." Su Tian happily sat on the crossbar of the bicycle.
The old man felt a warmth in his heart as he watched Song Zhe and Su Tian interact. It's so good to be young.
Song Zhe pedaled hard, and the bicycle moved forward slowly.
Su Tian turned slightly to the side to avoid blocking Song Zhe's view.
A slight, cool breeze gently brushed her face, bringing a touch of chill but also a unique sense of comfort.
Song Zhe looked at Su Tian in his arms; her hair was gently swaying in the wind, brushing against his face.
Being so close to her at this moment, it felt as if time had slowed down, leaving only the sound of our breathing and the soft whirring of the bicycle chain.
