Su Tian carried the goods she had bought from the department store all the way to the government staff housing building, where all the families of government employees lived.
She carried it all the way to the third floor before stopping in front of her own door. Luckily, her strength-based superpowers from the apocalypse came along with her, which is why she was strong enough to carry two hundred pounds. Otherwise, she simply couldn't have done it.
As Su Tian entered the house, she heard her parents arguing about something.
"Sigh, tell me, what tricks did that Chen kid use to make our daughter so heartless and eager to get involved?"
Our daughter emptied the house and gave everything to that boy.
That bastard is heartless. I won't even mention the food and clothes he's provided for us all these years, but how could he possibly trick our daughter into signing up for the rural service program?
Su Ma Wang Lin said angrily.
"There's nothing we can do about it; the decision to go to the countryside can't be changed. Even if we bring Dad here, it won't change anything."
I knew this kid was never a good person. You're poor, fine, but you act all high and mighty, like you look down on everyone..."
Before the two of them could finish speaking, they saw Su Tian carrying a burlap sack home.
"Daughter, why didn't you ask your dad to help you with all these things you bought?"
Are you tired? Look at you, so much sweat on your face.
"Mom, it's okay, I'm not hot, and this thing isn't heavy."
Mom and Dad, I've already bought everything I need for the trip to the countryside, so you don't need to worry about me. I'll take good care of myself. Look how strong I am, farm work won't be difficult for me.
Also, I've already broken up with my ex, Chen Gang.
He actually cheated on me with He Hua behind my back! I wouldn't even want a man like that if he were given to me for free.
"Oh my god, I knew it! He's no good. What kind of man tricks a girl into moving all her belongings to his house?"
And she tricked you into going to the countryside, while secretly having an affair behind your back. And your good friend He Hua, she's got ulterior motives too.
Every time she comes to our house, her jealous eyes look like she wants to strangle you.
I told you before not to associate with her, but you wouldn't listen.
"Now you've finally shaken them off." After saying this, Su's mother patted her chest happily.
Su Tian also felt that the original owner of this body was a bit hard to describe. After all, she was the apple of her family's eye and was raised by her parents to be a bit naive and innocent.
But then, it was Su Tian's turn, hehehe...
“Daughter, I’m so glad you can see their true colors.”
"Sigh, it's a pity you're going to the countryside. Your parents will miss you. You can't imagine how hard life is there." Thinking of this, Su's father wished he could find someone to beat those two people up.
Looking at the loving gazes of the two parents, Su Tian felt a pang of sadness. How long had it been since she had felt this long-lost parental love?
In the apocalypse, it's all about killing each other; even family members can be pushed out to shield you from zombies.
"Mom and Dad, don't worry. When we get to the countryside, I'll work hard to earn work points. I've always been strong, just like Grandpa. No work will be too difficult for me," Su Tian said confidently.
The original owner of this body was already quite strong, it was hereditary. Su Tian brought a strength-type ability from the apocalypse, making her even stronger.
The thought of her beloved daughter going to the countryside made Wang Lin feel like her heart was being torn apart.
"Mom and Dad, even if I go to the countryside, with the money, ration coupons, and supplies you give me, I won't starve to death."
If things really get too bad, and I can't take it anymore, find me a job, and I'll send you a telegram to get me back to the city.
Hearing this, Su's parents felt somewhat comforted.
In the end, the couple silently accepted it all.
"On the day you go to the countryside, Dad will take you to the train station. Here's your sleeper ticket, take it safe," Su's father said reluctantly.
Su Tian thought for a moment and agreed immediately. She didn't want to see those two unlucky people, Chen Gang and He Hua, on the train.
"Hey, Chen Gang, you're back. Didn't you sleep at home last night?"
After seeing Su Tian leave, Chen Gang took He Hua home and lingered at her house for a long time before returning home at noon. He knew his house had been burgled, so he deliberately hid outside.
"You weren't sleeping at home last night? Where the hell were you? The house was robbed, and you were still out there wandering around. I'd rather have given birth to a piece of barbecued pork than to you!" Chen's mother scolded angrily.
When Mr. Chen saw that his third son's fists were clenched and the veins on the back of his hands were bulging, clearly indicating that he was very angry, he quickly pulled on Mrs. Chen to stop her from continuing.
"Ignore you. Your mom is furious. The house has been completely robbed. She's upset, but it's not directed at you."
"I've been at home the whole time, but I went out briefly this morning."
Chen Gang snorted inwardly. It was always like this in his family; one person was used to playing the good cop and the other the bad cop, trying to manipulate him like that.
He gets none of the good things, but all the bad. Why are they so biased? Is it just because they have more sons in the family that they look down on him?
Twenty-year-old Chen Gang was always scolded by his mother: "It would have been better to give birth to a piece of char siu than to you." When he was little, his mother would say this to him, and the neighbors would burst into laughter.
Having grown up so much, being scolded like this by Chen's mother made him feel even more gloomy and resentful.
Just bear with it a little longer, I'll be going to the countryside soon. I'm talented and good-looking, otherwise why would the governor's secretary's daughter be so devoted to me?
He'll make it big eventually, and he'll be waiting for you to come begging to him.
Thinking of this, Chen Gang's anger did not explode and gradually subsided.
Regardless of the whispers and pointing fingers around him, Chen Gang walked straight toward the house.
Seeing this, he felt he needed to go to the countryside as soon as possible, but his chest hurt a lot, and he wondered if it was broken. He also didn't have the money to see a doctor.
