Back at the youth settlement, those who weren't taking exams had already prepared lunch for them. After a simple lunch, everyone rested.
Ma Chunling lay in bed, recalling the exam questions, secretly praying for good results. Chen Gang and Zou Daying, on the other hand, were anxious, worried that they had failed the exam.
Chen Gang and Zou Daying walked to a secluded corner, and Chen Gang cautiously asked, "Brother Chen Gang, how did your exam go?"
Chen Gang replied vaguely, "It's alright, not too difficult, most of them can be written."
"Sigh, I have no hope. I didn't learn many of the math questions on my test."
"Sister Ying, don't worry, if it doesn't work this time, we'll try again next time."
"That's right. Even if I can't become a teacher, I won't starve. I still have my family."
Chen Gang felt extremely embarrassed after hearing these words. Other people's parents would help their children, but his parents only knew how to exploit him, drink his blood, and eat his flesh.
After saying goodbye to Zou Daying, Chen Gang returned to his room with heavy steps. As soon as he entered, he heard He Hua's heart leap with joy:
"Brother Chen Gang, aren't you going to eat? I've cooked your favorite porridge."
He gets annoyed whenever he hears He Hua's voice. When did he start liking porridge the most? He clearly likes rice the most.
He Hua went straight into Chen Gang's room and said cheerfully, "Brother Chen Gang, how did you do on the exam? Did you really get the job as the teacher?"
Back then, Chen Gang got into the best high school with the highest score. This time, she found out that the test only covered junior high school knowledge, which was very easy for him.
"He Hua, don't talk nonsense. I don't know how to do many of the questions."
"If you can't answer a question, then no one else can either. Don't worry, you'll definitely pass the exam."
After listening to He Hua's words, Chen Gang thought about it and realized that what she said made some sense. Instantly, his gloomy mood brightened up.
The two then went outside to have some porridge. Although it was just a plate of white peony and green vegetables, it didn't affect their mood at all.
Su Tian had already closed the door and was eating instant noodles in her room. She wanted something spicy and exciting. After finishing her noodles, she sat for a while and then lay down on the bed to rest.
At 3 p.m., Su Tian and the others walked together to the brigade's primary school.
They noticed a large crowd gathered around the wall outside the classroom. They quickly squeezed through to get a look: it turned out that each of their test papers was posted on the wall, already graded and marked with scores, arranged in descending order of scores.
When they saw their names and scores, everyone's expression was different. Some were overjoyed, some were frowning, and some remained calm.
In the Chinese language group, Su Tian scored the highest, ranking first. This outstanding achievement made those around her look at her with even greater admiration.
Chen Gang was the fifth and the last one, and he failed the test despite scoring 100 points.
The other three scored either 80 or 70, each higher than his score, while Su Tian scored 95.
In the math group, Ma Chunling also passed the exam. They smiled at each other, finally relieved.
Zou Daying knew she hadn't done well on the test; she hadn't even finished the paper, so she was too ashamed to look at her score.
