Su Tian fed the remaining rice to the old hen, then went back to her room to get her clothes and prepare to take a shower.
Suddenly, she heard someone calling her from the yard, so she went to the yard to take a look.
It turned out that Liu Chunni had come to see her. She walked to the door and called out, "Aunt Chunni, what brings you here?"
"Hey, Su Tian, did you go into the river to save a child?"
"No, I just helped out. The one who went into the water was a new educated youth named Lu Xiao."
"Oh, so you're the new guys. You guys are really great."
I heard you went into the river to rescue the children, so I thought I'd come and see how you were doing. I also brought you some longan, freshly picked, big and sweet.
Take this small bag and share it with the young man who saved the person.
Now that you're alright, I'll head home and get back to work.
"Wait, Aunt Chunni, I have something to tell you. Is Song Weiguang home?"
"He's here. He just got back this morning and he's still sleeping."
Su Tian glanced around and whispered to Liu Chunni, "Tell him there's a big shipment coming at 11 p.m. tonight, seventeen sacks."
If you say it like that, he'll understand.
"Oh, I see. I'll tell him when I get back."
Liu Chunni was a little confused. As she walked, she thought to herself: When did her son get to know Su Tian and become so close to her?
Su Tian watched Liu Chunni leave, then looked at the bag in her hand, estimating that the longan weighed about two pounds.
She would give her more good food next time, carrying the longan back to the courtyard. She walked over to Lu Xiao and Ma Chunling and called them out.
"Come on over here, have some fruit after your meal." Su Tian leisurely returned to her side, carrying longan.
She moved the table out, took a stool, sat down, and started eating.
"Wow, where did you come from?" Ma Chunling asked happily.
"The village chief's wife gave it to me, saying that since we saved the child, she wanted to check if I was alright," Su Tian said while eating.
Lu Xiao didn't say anything, he just kept eating. This longan was amazing; it was the first time he had ever eaten this kind of fruit.
"Why don't I see any of these fruits in the field?"
“It’s possible that it was planted in their own vegetable garden, since the tree doesn’t take up much space,” Su Tian said, looking at Ma Chunling.
“The fruits from the South are so sweet. If I had come to the countryside a few months earlier, would I have been able to eat a few lychees occasionally?” Lu Xiao asked.
“Yes, if you go to the countryside in May or June, you can eat lychees. Almost every household has a few lychees in their vegetable garden,” Ma Chunling said to Lu Xiao.
Su Tian thought about how the rice in her space had been harvested, so could she plant some longan trees too?
She set aside the longan seeds she had finished eating, intending to plant them in her spatial dimension later.
When Liu Chunni got home, she saw that Song Weiguang was still asleep, so she didn't wait for him to wake up on his own.
I quickly shook him awake, "Get up, have dinner before you go back to sleep."
"I'll eat later. I need to get some sleep first."
"Su Zhiqing needs to talk to you. Do you want to hear it?"
"What? She wanted to see me? Did she say what she wanted to say?" Song Weiguang stood up and looked at his mother.
“Yes, she said there will be goods at 11 pm tonight, seventeen burlap sacks,” Liu Chunni said, staring at Song Weiguang.
"Oh, I see. Is the food ready? I'll get up, brush my teeth, and eat."
"What are you and Su, the educated youth, up doing?" Liu Chunni asked curiously.
"Mom, don't ask anymore. You know what I do. My relationship with her is just business," Song Zhe said softly.
"Okay, I won't ask anymore. Hurry up and come out. I think your dad is getting impatient."
"Okay, right away."
Liu Chunni sat at the table and asked the village chief, "Today, Su, the educated youth, and that new young man saved Widow Zhang's son. Will the village give them a reward?"
“These educated youths are all good. We’ll discuss with the other village officials how to reward them.”
"Eat first, the food's getting cold."
After they finished speaking, the village chief and the others began to eat. A little while later, Song Weiguang also sat down. After finishing his meal, he needed to hurry to town to find Brother Qiang and the others to pick up the goods.
"Here, Mom, this is the food allowance for this month. The rest is for you two."
While eating, Song Weiguang handed Liu Chunni five yuan bills, saying, "Just tell me what you want to buy, and I'll go to town later."
"Oh, then I won't be polite. I'll take the money first." Liu Chunni smiled and put the money into her pocket.
"No need to be polite, I'll give it to you next month." Song Weiguang coaxed the old couple with sweet words, making them laugh heartily.
"You need to be careful in this line of work," the village chief advised.
"Don't worry, Dad, I'll be careful," Song Weiguang said, quickly shoveling rice into his mouth as he looked at his father.
After finishing his meal, Song Weiguang rode his bike towards the town.
It was already completely dark when, halfway there, damn it, his tire blew out.
I could only keep riding, even though it was a bit slower.
Finally, he arrived in town and went to the black market's contact point.
After knocking on the door and entering, Brother Qiang saw Song Weiguang and asked with a smile, "Coming here so early, is there something good?"
Song Weiguang nodded, and the two went into the house.
"It's that female educated youth from last time who has goods. She said she has seventeen burlap sacks, and the time is 11 p.m. tonight."
"Okay, we'll go an hour early then."
"My bicycle tire is flat, I need to get it fixed first."
"Then you go ahead with your work, we'll go and bring the goods back when it's time."
After repairing his car, Song Weiguang strolled around the town. He passed a photo studio and saw the photos displayed inside.
Isn't this Li, the educated youth from the educated youth settlement? The photo is really well taken.
Song Weiguang looked at the photo with a smile. So, he liked Li Chanjuan. No wonder he treated He Hua like trash.
