Chapter 64 The Truth About Falling into the Water

Today is Monday, and Su Tian got up early because she had to go to school.

When she and Ma Chunling were halfway there, they saw a crowd gathered together, and they saw the widow Zhang from yesterday arguing with an older woman.

"Don't make false accusations. Your child fell into the river on his own. Why are you saying my son pushed him?"

"Wang Daya, don't try to deny it. The kids who went to play by the river yesterday all saw it. I was talking about your child."

"Who? Which child said that? Make him step forward, Widow Zhang. Find them! If you can't, don't blame my child."

"You, you're so unreasonable..." Widow Zhang stammered with anger.

"Hmph, who told you to ruin my son's reputation with your foul mouth, saying my son pushed your son, and you even want my family to pay five yuan and apologize?"

Bah! You're so greedy for money, you're trying to extort money from our family.

"If you want money, go find some random man! You're a widow now, why don't you get moving?"

"You, I'll fight you to the death, I'll teach you to spread rumors."

Widow Zhang rushed over immediately, knocking Wang Daya almost to the ground.

Wang Daya immediately got up, ready to rush over and beat up Widow Zhang.

People around immediately reacted, and an older woman immediately hugged Wang Daya to prevent her from moving.

Widow Zhang glared at her angrily, "If you spread rumors about me again, I'll come and stay at your house and never leave."

"Hmph, come on, I'll let you come. If you don't come, you're a turtle bastard."

"Su Tian, how exactly did that child fall into the water yesterday? It's a pity we didn't see it."

"So, let's not meddle in other people's business."

"Let's go, class is about to start." Su Tian called to Ma Chunling and quickly walked towards the brigade's primary school.

When Su Tian and the others left, Widow Zhang and the others also dispersed, afraid that the brigade leader would come and give them another scolding.

Widow Zhang had no choice but to accept the loss, since her child was alright at the moment.

All she could do was tell her child that he must never go to the river to play again, nor should he play with the child who pushed him into the water.

Seeing that Widow Zhang had left, Wang Daya also took her child home.

All the way, Wang Daya kept cursing Zhang the widow, "That wretched woman, how dare she wrong my child, just wait and see how I deal with her later."

She was completely unaware of how hurtful her words had just been. Her child, seeing his mother's fierce expression, lowered his head and remained silent.

Because he did push Zhang's child, he only wanted to tease him, he didn't do it on purpose, who knew that pushing him into the river would cause him to be swept to the middle of the river.

He was so scared that he ran home, and even after he got home, his heart was still pounding with fear.

After returning home, Wang Daya told the child not to run around outside anymore and to stay at home.

Her child could only nod heavily; he hadn't dared to go out lately.

Fortunately, he was only six years old and didn't have to go to school yet.

A few days later, one night, Wang Daya got up to use the bathroom and found that her son was not in the room. She searched the house and yard but could not find him.

She immediately woke up her husband to look for someone. Suddenly, she remembered that a few days ago, Zhang the widow had accused her son of pushing her child into the water. Her heart skipped a beat, and the two of them hurriedly ran towards the river on the west side of the village.

By the moonlight, Wang Daya and the others saw a small figure standing by the river in the distance; it was her son.

She rushed forward, hugged her son tightly, and asked in a tearful voice, "Why are you here so late at night?"

Her son burst into tears, crying as he said, "Mom, I was wrong. I shouldn't have pushed their child into the river that day."

I just wanted to tease him a little, I didn't mean it that way.

I keep dreaming about him these past few nights. He says he's so cold and lonely, and he wants me to come down and keep him company.

Wang Daya felt a chill run down her spine upon hearing this.

She hugged her son tightly and comforted him, "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, it was just a dream. Her son didn't drown, so there's nothing to be afraid of."

We'll go apologize to him tomorrow and give him some compensation. Don't be naughty anymore. Go home and get some sleep; you won't have nightmares when you wake up.

After comforting their own child, they took the child home and coaxed him to sleep before going to sleep themselves.

“Tomorrow I’ll take our son to apologize to Widow Zhang. That will make him feel better,” Wang Daya said to her husband.

"Okay, then take ten eggs and five yuan to compensate them, since it was our child who really pushed them."

Thankfully, her son is alright; otherwise, our son would be a murderer, and he would never have peace for the rest of his life.

The next day, Wang Daya brought her son to Zhang the widow's house to apologize and gave her ten eggs and five yuan as compensation.

After learning about the situation, Widow Zhang felt uneasy and a little sad, even though her son was alright.

She didn't say anything, just nodded, because Wang Daya's child was only six years old, and she didn't want to embarrass the child, so she took the compensation and went back to her house.

Seeing this, Wang Daya had no choice but to take her son home.

Time flies, and Friday is here in the blink of an eye.

Su Tian taught an art class in the morning. After consulting with the principal, she decided to take her students to the foot of the mountain to paint.

The students were very excited along the way, chattering away.

Seeing the students so happy made Su Tian feel happy too.

These are the future flowers of our motherland; the construction of our motherland depends on them.

"Children, we've arrived. Take a look around and decide what you want to draw. I'll come back to see you later," Su Tian said gently to her students.
