Chapter 55

Chapter 55

Star Sector 33, top berth of the Admiral's Mansion.

The cabin was silent. Shi Hanyi stared out the window at the blue-gray sky in silence, his head turned away for a long time. Xizi sat beside him, not urging him to leave.

Anyone with eyes could tell that this was no ordinary child. But Xiaozi didn't care, just like he didn't care how Xiyue, a garbage citizen, had caused the pollution.

He did whatever the general told him to do, and that was enough.

Around midnight, Han Yi stirred slightly. Xiaozi glanced at him from the corner of his eye, only catching the back of the boy's round head and missing his rare smile.

"Mom." Han Yi whispered softly.

Xizi thought the admiral had returned with Xiyue, so he opened the skylight and followed his gaze, only to find a hovering starship.

A patrol ship happened to be approaching the starship and issued an electronic warning: "No hovering at high altitude, occupying the channel."

After repeating this twice, Xipo in the starship finally came to his senses.

Han Yi was taken away by the 33rd Legion. He informed his eldest sister, but she didn't respond. Worried, he decided to come and see her. Because his eldest sister had advised to minimize public contact, he didn't fly directly to the Commander's Mansion like last time.

I think it's okay, right?

When the patrol ship sounded the alarm for the third time, two mechas flew out of the cabin, and one of them knocked on Xipo's window.

"Check identification."

Xipo frowned slightly and was about to use the light brain to project his identity information when he suddenly stopped.

Another mecha appeared at the edge of sight, flying from bottom to top, holding Han Yi in the other party's arms.

The other party revealed his identity to the security guard, and the two mechas saluted respectfully and returned to the patrol ship. Seeing him make a gesture, Xipo opened the hatch.

Han Yi was sent to the cabin, but the other party did not come up and flew away the same way.

Xipo withdrew her doubtful gaze and looked at Han Yi: "Where's my elder sister? Have you seen my elder sister?"

Han Yi shook his head.

"Let's go down and take a look." Xipo swung the steering wheel, trying to catch up with the mecha, but Han Yi held the steering wheel down.

"Mom is fine," he said. "Let's go back."

"Go back? Sector 29?" Xipo became increasingly confused. "Didn't my eldest sister send someone to pick you up?"

Han Yi didn't explain, but just repeated: "Go back."

At the same time, their eyes fell on the general's mansion in the distance.

He can no longer stay with his mother.

Xipo's starship had just left the 33rd star zone. To the south, the starship belonging to the Central Legion broke through the survival barrier and flew to the Admiral's Mansion.

Send Yuan Xu and Xi Yue to the gate.

Yuan Xu waved his hand: "Captain Qiao, see you tomorrow."

Qiao Mingjin stood at the cabin door: "Tomorrow?"

"No? I thought you were going to interrogate my servant again tomorrow." Yuan Xu smiled, "Then I won't see you tomorrow."

Taking Xiyue towards the door.

Xie Wenbo also felt that Yuan Xu and Xi Yue's involvement in everything was too coincidental, so he suggested, "Captain, how about leaving a few people to continue monitoring?"

After saying that, he was punched by the captain.

Feng Yang glared: "After solving a major case, of course the whole team should go back together to receive the commendation. If you want to stay, you can stay by yourself!"

Xie Wenbo was disappointed.

Qiao Mingjin returned to the passenger seat and shook his head slightly. "No matter who destroyed the surveillance camera and kidnapped Xiyue, our surveillance of the General's Mansion has been exposed. There's no point in continuing."

"Exactly. Besides, our superiors only told us to investigate, not to arrest someone to act as the murderer of Major General Ning. If there is no result, then there is no result."

Feng Yang was immersed in joy and asked again: "Captain, shall we go now?"

"Wait, let's go to the 33rd Sector Security Station first."

Xie Wenbo's eyes turned: "Captain, do you want to investigate the serial murder case that happened tonight?"

Star City No. 33 is a large city, with a branch office in each of the four directions. Qiao Mingjin deliberately chose the South City branch, which he had never been to before. After identifying himself and explaining his purpose, he quickly obtained all the case materials.

"The three crimes took place in East, North, and South City, respectively, quite far apart. Judging from the wounds on the bodies, we can only confirm that they were caused by psychic weapons. If it's really the same killer, traveling such a long distance in such a short time, they must have been wearing a mecha."

"This is the information of the three deceased individuals. They were all legal citizens residing in Sector 33, but... they were all E0-level."

Xie Wenbo listened and pondered, "So, whether the murderer is the same person or not, he could be a discriminator against lower-class citizens?"

"Extreme discrimination," the sheriff corrected. "This type of case is common elsewhere, but in our sector... it's rare. If we hadn't suppressed the news early, the Starnet would have already caused an uproar."

The sheriff was deeply troubled. After the incident, senior officers in charge of the Star Region Security Office rushed over to hold them accountable, demanding they solve the case within two days. Even General Zhai Zhengqi, the head of the garrison, came to visit. Although he didn't express any opinion, his concern clearly reflected his attitude.

Suddenly, he had an idea.

If the Central Corps could take over this case...

Before he could speak, Qiao Mingjin thanked him and left with his men.

Xie Wenbo: "Captain, are you not going to investigate anymore?"

"It's meaningless." Qiao Mingjin suppressed his disappointment and said, "Let's go back to the central government."

Xie Wenbo nodded: "That's right."

No matter how you look at it, there's no way to connect the murder of a trash citizen to Yuan Xu or Xi Yue. The former is the commander of the legion, so he shouldn't bother to fight a trash citizen. The latter is a trash citizen herself, so what's the point of killing another trash citizen?

The three deceased had no mental power at all, and selecting targets with such precision really seemed like something that a discriminator hiding in the army could do.

However, neither he nor Qiao Mingjin had anticipated that a similar case had occurred around the same time in a nearby star region. Those star regions, disregarding their despised citizens and the sudden death of their own coach, Gong Daimin, had thrown them into chaos, leading to the case never being reported and completely buried.

If you carefully count, you will find that the mental power of the twenty dead people that night was all E0, and most of the crime scenes were accompanied by pollution outbreaks.

A group of pollution gods disappeared.

A god of pollution that is above them is quietly born.

-

Feeling compelled to treat the future admiral's wife unfairly, Butler Ai, despite the pain, purchased a complete set of brand-new, high-quality furniture for Xiyue. Ji Mingshu's laptop was taped to the wall beneath the bed frame.

Xi Yue's own light computer was confiscated by the No. 42 Legion and was not found when she left. After returning to the room, she took out Ji Mingshu's light computer and found that Xi Po had sent many messages.

"Han Yi was picked up?"

Xi Yue frowned. She didn't see Han Yi, and neither Butler Ai nor Yuan Xu mentioned this matter.

She thought about it and clicked on the video call.

Xipo answered the call quickly and saw the dim picture, which seemed to show someone coming out of the cabin.

"Big sister."

"Where's Han Yi? I didn't see him."

The camera turned and Han Yi's little face came into view: "Mom."

Xiyue was puzzled: "Didn't you say Han Yi came to my place? Why is he with you?"

Xipo waited for a moment, and seeing that Han Yi had no intention of speaking, he explained, "I saw that you didn't reply to my message, so I went to Sector 33 to pick him up. Han Yi said he didn't see you."

Xiyue asked a few more questions and roughly reconstructed what happened, so an additional question arose: Why didn't Yuan Xu take Han Yi home, and didn't mention a word about her after seeing her?

This guy originally said that he had more important things to do... Could it be related to Han Yi?

Putting the issue aside for the moment, Xiyue shared the good news of Gong Daimin's death with Xipo.

"We've written off nearly 200 billion in debt. Gong Daimin has 180 billion, and a major general under her named Ma Liu has 12 billion. That leaves only 355.82 billion..."

It sounds like there is still a lot left, but considering the amount of reduction, 400 to 500 billion was lost in just one month, which is far beyond expectations.

However, Xipo's reaction was not as joyful as expected.

Xiyue: "What's wrong with you? What happened?"

"…It's all thanks to my eldest sister."

Even though he knew that his elder sister was invincible in the contaminated area, Xipo could still imagine how dangerous it would be for her when facing an S-class mecha warrior.

"I wasn't any help at all."

"No," Xiyue shook her head. "Have you forgotten what I said? Debt elimination is only half of our plan, and it's the part I'm responsible for. Xipo, Sector 29 will face many problems in the future, and they'll all depend on you to solve them on the spot."

Xiyue could understand Xipo's feeling of powerlessness.

Previously, his mental damage hadn't been of much use, so he had to accept his fate. Now that his mental strength had recovered somewhat and he could continue to control the mecha, he was forced to separate from Xiyue and was still unable to help in dealing with the creditors.

For the arrogant top student of the Mecha Academy, this feeling is not pleasant.

But Xiyue's persuasion wasn't meant to coax him. Firstly, Xipo's current mental strength wasn't enough to stand up to someone like Gong Daimin, and even keeping him around would be of limited use. Secondly, if Sector 29 continued to develop according to her plan, it would inevitably attract many unfriendly glances.

Before that, Xipo must become stronger with Han Yi's help. This is the way to share her worries.

Xiyue wanted to have a good chat with Han Yi. After all, he was the one who could best explain the changes in her. But seeing the child's reluctance to speak in front of the camera, she had no choice but to give up.

Let’s find a chance to talk in person later.

After a day full of twists and turns, she felt tired now that she was relaxing, but not sleepy at all.

With a thought, lines of characters that did not exist to outsiders appeared in her sight.

This made Xiyue doubt for a moment whether she was a robot.

However, this possibility was quickly ruled out. After the Central Army Corps arrived, a medical staff member examined her physical condition. If she was truly non-human, she would have been exposed by the high-tech equipment.

"Preparatory Level (Highest): Level 5"

"Quantity in reserve: 1"

Tidal surge speed: 5 m/s

Sedimentation concentration: 1.1 times

Force field diameter: 3 meters

The text was completely different from before. Xiyue had tried to recall the previous text with her consciousness, but each attempt had failed. Now, concentrating on these few lines, the more she looked at them, the more they resembled the parameters of a contaminated area.

She looked around the room, listened to the noise outside the door, and said to herself: Start the pollution.

It doesn't work.

Continue reading: Start level 5 pollution.

A shadow suddenly enveloped the light in the room.

-

Butler Ai waited for half the night before the person came home. He went to bed and was half asleep when he suddenly jumped up.

A sharp alarm sounded in the dark bedroom.

"It's only been a few days and there's pollution at home again?!"

He quickly turned on the light and took a look. He breathed a sigh of relief and found that the pollution was not in his bedroom.

The Admiral was out the door the moment he got home. My little one always sleeps with his mecha box, so there's no need to worry. Every room in the house has been sealed with space devices, so waiting for the legion to arrive won't be a problem...

As he was thinking, Butler Ai's eyelids began to twitch again, and then he suddenly shuddered.

Miss Xi!

He hurried out of the door and looked up. The place where the red alarm light was flashing wildly was Miss Xi's room!

Oh no!

Butler Ai hurriedly turned on his computer, but heard a sound of breaking air coming from far away and flashing past his head.

The white mecha is our own admiral!

Butler Ai felt relieved that the heart that had been in his throat was gone. He thought that everything would be fine as long as the superior arrived. The alarm had only been off for a minute or two. Even if Miss Xi had no ability to resist infection, it was still in time.

The situation was urgent, and he fully expected the admiral to knock open Miss Xi's door. Unexpectedly, the white mecha suddenly stopped at the door, raised a mechanical arm, and knocked politely.

Butler Ai:?

No, General, you're still concerned about politeness at this hour?

However, the next moment, the door really opened. Standing in the living room on the first floor, I could just see Xiyue's face through the loft. Her calm smile was the same as always, without any sign of panic caused by the pollution.

Butler Ai was stunned for a moment, then slapped his thigh hard: "Ah!"

If there really was contamination, Miss Xi would have opened the door and run out long ago, right? There was no point in staying inside and waiting for someone to rescue her.

He sprinted upstairs. Yuan Xu was still surveying the room when Butler Ai spoke up, "Is the detector broken? I knew those Central Government thieves couldn't be clean. They must have stolen some spare part!"

"I'm also wondering why the alarm sounded." Xi Yue responded, glancing at Yuan Xu. "There's no contamination. Butler Ai, go back to sleep."

"I'll call someone to fix it tomorrow. It's just a false alarm, it's really scary..."

Butler Ai left muttering, leaving the man and woman alone looking at each other in bewilderment.

The air was pure and clean, and the reconnaissance system hadn't detected a trace of pollution. Yuan Xu simply turned off his mecha, his expression serious for the first time: "I don't know what you're doing, but Butler Ai's mental strength is also E. This won't happen again."

"How can we cooperate if you don't even have confidence in my abilities?" Xi Yue asked back.

After successfully activating the fifth level of pollution, she immediately used pure space to eliminate all polluted air. The method was very simple, just flying around like an eraser.

The speed is a little slower than the purification gun of the mecha soldier, but it has fewer restrictions and does not need to wait until all the pollutants in the contaminated area are completely killed.

Seeing Yuan Xu remained silent, Xi Yue felt a little guilty and changed the subject: "I also want to ask, what exactly did you want to do by taking Han Yi away without telling me?"

Yuan Xu suddenly smiled and started to act frivolously again.

"The child was crying and shouting for him. Mom, I brought him here. Why didn't he tell you?"

The two of them had their own thoughts and looked at each other suspiciously.

Xiyue knew that Yuanxu was not telling the truth, but Hanyi did stay by Xipo's side and did not accuse Yuanxu of anything.

Yuan Xu was secretly speculating that it seemed that the strange boy had really chosen to keep silent about Xi Yue and had no intention of reminding her at all.

In the past, he was curious about Xiyue's personality, which was very different from that of other gods of pollution. Now, he began to be curious about Xiyue's true identity.

If you want to know a person's hidden identity, the way is simple: keep pushing her into trouble.

Yuan Xu did just that: "I just went to the garrison. Do you know why General Zhai came to see me so hastily?"

Xi Yue remained unmoved: "What does your internal management work have to do with me?"

"That's true. Although this is a problem left by your father, it has nothing to do with you now."

On the surface he said it didn't matter, but the sarcasm in his words clearly indicated that it did matter a lot.

Under the citizen hierarchy system, the information gap between the two was as great as their citizenship levels. Xiyue had no choice but to be patient: "If you have to fart, fart quickly."

Yuan Xu chuckled and said slowly, "The central government sent an official letter instructing the 33rd Legion to reduce the proportion of jobs for garbage citizens to free up jobs for citizens of other levels."

Outside of the military party, the percentage of trash citizens in the interstellar working party was less than 10%, a common phenomenon across the interstellar landscape. Only the Xihai region had managed to raise the target to 30%, and no less than 30%, providing a full 200,000 trash citizens with a job.

Now that the central government has issued this official letter...

"In other words," Yuan Xu changed his words to plain language, "within the jurisdiction of Legion No. 33, the 200,000 garbage citizens will be deprived of their right to reside and expelled."
