Chapter 154 But She Just Won't Die

Qiao Yingzhuo walked out of the campus somewhat bewildered. He was puzzled as to why his perfectly healthy daughter was not close to them.

He thought for a moment and then called his friend Lao Wei.

Old Wei was talking to his wife when she saw the phone call and she pouted.

When Lao Wei answered the phone, Qiao Yingzhuo said dejectedly, "Lao Wei, do you want to come out for a drink?"

Old Wei's wife was immediately unhappy. This Qiao Yingzhuo is a fool. Every time he has something going on, he comes to their Old Wei for drinks. Doesn't he have any other friends?

Old Wei gave a wry smile, but his wife's eyes lit up. She said to him, "Why drink outside? Come to our house. It'll be easier to talk there."

Old Wei looked at his wife as if she were a ghost. Usually, she didn't want him to associate with Old Qiao, so why did she let him come to the house today?

After hanging up the phone, Lao Wei looked at his wife as if she were a ghost: "Why are you being so easy to talk to?"

"What do you mean 'easy to talk to'?" Old Wei's wife scoffed. "I just want to see them make a fool of themselves."

"What kind of joke is going on in their family?" Old Wei doesn't go online much, so he didn't know what had happened.

Old Wei's wife sent him the short video she had seen that day.

"This matter is quite popular online. I saw it when I saw it, and I'm watching the live stream now. I never expected that Lao Wei's wife would be such a wicked person."

The video was intentionally sped up, compressing a video that was over ten minutes long into just a few minutes, but it doesn't affect the viewing experience at all.

After reading the message, Lao Wei frowned deeply: "Their family's affairs are indeed a mess."

"Do you think this is only Qiao Yingzhuo's wife's fault?" Old Wei's wife shook her head. "If Qiao Yingzhuo had been a little more forceful, or if he had spent some money to send his daughter to boarding school, she wouldn't have had to suffer for so many years."

"That girl got up early and made breakfast. Do you think she was making breakfast for Li Wenxiang and Qiao Nianxi, or for the whole family of three?"

"Twenty yuan a month, I don't believe Qiao Yingzhuo doesn't know that. He's just keeping quiet because he doesn't know. Even if he doesn't know, he can't see Qiao Zaoyao's living conditions."

"Then why did you let him come over today?" Hearing his wife say this, Lao Wei also felt a bit disgusted with Qiao Yingzhuo. How could he expect to trust someone who wasn't even good to his own daughter when it came to work?

"Because I want to know what's bothering him, and I hope this is your last drinking session, and that you can gradually cut off contact with him in the future." After saying that, Old Wei's wife ordered a few dishes on her phone.

This time, Lao Wei did not refute his wife. In the past, when Lao Wei talked about his children, he had also complained that his daughter was not as obedient as his adopted daughter.

She's still not obedient. If their child got such good grades in a top high school, they would be laughing in their sleep and would treat her like royalty.

Even so, Old Joe was still not satisfied, and he brought it up with his wife.

Old Wei's wife sneered: "Zaoyao, died young, of course we'd be satisfied if she died."

When Lao Wei heard his wife say that, he felt a chill in his heart. Was Lao Wei's inaction over the years really because Li Wenxiang was too domineering?

Or was he planning to use Li Wenxiang to force Qiao Zaoyao?

"Why?" Old Wei didn't understand.

"You're so stupid." Old Wei's wife looked at him with disappointment. "Of course we want a boy, but we don't know if he will be born from Li Wenxiang's belly or from someone else's."

Old Wei's eyes widened: "But she is, after all, his child. There's no need to let her die."

"It's hard to say. Why don't you ask her when she comes over for a drink?" Old Wei's wife was also puzzled.

Old Wei nodded.

When Qiao Yingzhuo arrived, he was carrying a fruit basket. Old Wei's wife glanced at the fruit baskets at the fruit shop downstairs, and they cost two or three hundred yuan each.

Old Wei also knew the price. He looked at Qiao Yingzhuo meaningfully: "You can bring a fruit basket worth two or three hundred yuan when you visit other people's homes, but your own daughter only gets twenty yuan a month."

He realized that he really didn't understand Qiao Yingzhuo before.

Old Wei's wife brought the wine up to them, and said with a smile, "Please enjoy yourselves."

She turned around and went back to the kitchen to get busy. She ordered takeout for Qiao Yingzhuo, because their two little darlings would have a proper meal when they got home that night.

Looking at the abundant dishes on the table, Qiao Yingzhuo said to Lao Wei with envy, "Lao Wei, you are so lucky. Look at your wife, she is so virtuous, and you have two obedient children."

After saying that, he took a sip of wine, feeling dejected.

Old Wei was startled to see Qiao Yingzhuo drink a full glass of liquor down his throat. When had Qiao Yingzhuo ever drunk like that before?

"Old Joe, what's wrong with you today?"

“I’m going to the school to find Qiao Zaoyao.” He took another swig of his drink. “She not only dislikes Wenxiang, but she also dislikes me.”

Just then, the aroma of stewing soup wafted from the kitchen. Qiao Wenzhu sniffed and, when he saw Old Wei's wife, he asked, "Sister-in-law, how did my perfectly good daughter turn out like this? She doesn't understand my suffering at all."

"Your daughter is suffering?" she said with a smile. "Your daughter earns four or five thousand a month, not even counting clothes and training classes. I think your daughter has been raised in a honey pot."

Qiao Yingzhuo shook his head: "It's not Qiao Nianxi, it's another child, Qiao Zaoyao."

"Oh dear, the name Zaoyao is not nice to hear, but I've never heard you mention it before, and I've never seen it when I visited your house."

Qiao Yingzhuo was somewhat dazed; he seemed to have never mentioned to anyone that he had another daughter.

“She… has nothing to say.” Qiao Yingzhuo took another swig of wine. He didn’t see Old Wei’s suddenly stiff face or Old Wei’s wife’s eyes rolling back.

"Drink!" Qiao Yingzhuo quickly finished a bottle of baijiu.

He became rambling: "I initially thought Qiao Zaoyao was a boy. The master... the master said that I couldn't conceive after that. Some... some masters said that her existence was hindering my son. Only if... she died... could I have a son, but she... just wouldn't die."

Old Wei and his wife exchanged a glance. They both felt that Qiao Yingzhuo was a scary person, that he would let his daughter suffer like this because of such a thing.

Old Wei immediately stood up and said to the already dazed Qiao Yingzhuo, "Old Qiao, you're drunk. I'll call your wife to come pick you up."

His words kept replaying in his mind. Qiao Yingzhuo's thoughts were so profound that he really had to cut off all ties with his family from now on.

After hearing that Qiao Yingzhuo was drunk at Lao Wei's house, Li Wenxiang went there without saying a word and found Qiao Yingzhuo completely drunk.

Li Wenxiang looked at Lao Wei and his wife with some shame: "Brother Wei and sister-in-law, I'm sorry, my husband Lao Qiao has disturbed you."

Old Wei waved his hand: "Old Wei and I have been friends for so many years."

But Lao Wei's wife didn't say anything. Li Wenxiang was just surprised for a moment, and didn't have time to think about it. She just took Qiao Yingzhu away.
