Chapter 141 A Bad Premonition
"Hey? Why are you back?!" As soon as Chen Jingyang entered the door, Zhang Pengfei stood up from the sofa in surprise to look at him.
Chen Jingyang didn't even change his shoes. He strode to the sofa, pulled the person into his arms without saying a word, and then bit his lip hard and sucked on it!
"Ouch!" Zhang Pengfei winced in pain, frowned, and punched Chen Jingyang in the chest before Chen Jingyang reluctantly let go.
Zhang Pengfei gently rubbed her burning lips with her fingers, then glared at him playfully, "You're so annoying!"
Chen Jingyang chuckled, turned Zhang Pengfei around, half-leaning and half-hugging his back, and buried his face in Zhang's neck, breathing heavily: "Baby, I've missed you so much!"
The heavy lump made Zhang Pengfei bend over, but its weight unexpectedly made him feel exceptionally at ease, as if the whole world had returned, and his whole body was wrapped in thick arms, warm and cozy.
"Didn't you say you were going to have dinner with Zenti's representative? Why are you back?"
Chen Jingyang snorted: "I only found out today that the representative sent by Zenti is Li Jianren. Just seeing him makes me sick. How can I eat anything!"
Zhang Pengfei frowned and thought for a moment: "Who is that? I don't remember him. Did you know him a long time ago? What did he do to you that makes you feel disgusted just by looking at him?"
Chen Jingyang's heart skipped a beat!
He forgot that Zhang Pengfei and Li Jianren had only met three times in total, and Zhang Pengfei had a slight case of face blindness; if they didn't spend a month or two together properly, he wouldn't recognize him anymore.
However, Chen Jingyang was overjoyed in an instant—it was good that he didn't remember. After all, if it weren't for Li Jianren's instigation, he and Zhang Pengfei wouldn't have gone through such a great ordeal!
“He…” Chen Jingyang’s eyes darted around, and he said without any attempt to hide it, “He and I are alumni. This guy is petty and narrow-minded, and he’s the kind of person who would stab you in the back. He’s disgusting!”
Zhang Pengfei couldn't help but worry: "Wouldn't Zenti sending someone like this be detrimental to Tanzhi? I have a feeling..."
Chen Jingyang gently placed his index finger on his lips to stop him from continuing, saying, "Baby, don't worry about Tanzhi, worry about me instead, I'm hungry."
Zhang Pengfei let out a short chuckle: "Okay, I'm worried about you. What do you want to eat?"
Chen Jingyang lowered his head, bringing his lips close to the other's: "I want to eat you."
"Tsk!" Zhang Pengfei nudged his waist lightly with his elbow: "Be serious!"
Chen Jingyang chuckled awkwardly, pulled his face back, pressed it against the back of Zhang Pengfei's neck, closed his eyes, and gently rubbed against him: "I'm fine with anything, I'm not picky about food."
"I'll make you some clear soup noodles; it'll soothe your stomach."
"good."
He said "okay" but didn't move his hands. He was still like a sloth, his arms tightly wrapped around Zhang Pengfei's back.
"Let me go!"
"Hmm~" Chen Jingyang hummed in protest: "We're not even in the kitchen yet, it would be a waste to let go now, let me hold you a little longer."
Zhang Pengfei chuckled speechlessly: "I'm truly impressed by you!"
And so, he staggered along, half-carrying, half-dragging Chen Jingyang to the kitchen: "Alright, let go of him. Go get me two eggs from the fridge."
"Mwah!" Chen Jingyang kissed the child on the cheek before letting go and taking out the egg: "Baby, do you need me to break it for you?"
Zhang Pengfei asked him, "Do you want scrambled eggs or poached eggs?"
"A fried egg, please. I haven't had one in ages."
"Then there's no need to break it up. I'll just put it in the pot later."
Chen Jingyang put down the eggs and leaned against the stove to watch Zhang Pengfei prepare the vegetables.
Although Zhang Pengfei isn't very tall, this stove is still a bit too low for him.
He was slightly bent over, head bowed, long eyelashes curled backward, trembling occasionally, his slender, fair neck curving into a beautiful arc, with the straps of an apron hanging from it. He gave the impression of a celestial being transforming into a husband, entering the kitchen for me.
His fingers were fair and slender as he plucked the spinach leaves one by one, lightly and quickly, with fluid movements, like a master performer plucking the strings of a zither, making Chen Jingyang's heart itch with desire.
He walked over and, just like before, climbed onto the person's back, his hands moving down to encircle the waist: "Baby, you look so beautiful when you cook."
Zhang Pengfei felt a tightness in his waist and abdomen from being encircled by him, his hands paused in the act of picking vegetables, and a faint blush crept onto the tips of his ears.
He turned his head and glared at the person clinging to his back: "Stop fooling around, you'll get your clothes dirty."
Chen Jingyang hugged him even tighter: "Don't worry, just wash it when it gets dirty, and throw it away if it's not clean."
Zhang Pengfei had no choice but to use Chen Jingyang as a "shell" to cook.
Fortunately, clear broth noodles are simple. Boil water, put in the noodles, wait for them to float, then crack an egg into the broth. Once the egg is poached, add spinach, and finally season with sesame oil. A bowl of fragrant noodles is ready.
Zhang Pengfei ladled out the noodles. The milky white soup was filled with emerald green spinach, topped with two golden poached eggs, and finally sprinkled with chopped green onions. The steaming broth exuded a gentle, homey charm.
Chen Jingyang finally detached himself from Zhang Pengfei and, with remarkable foresight, placed the bowl on the dining table.
Zhang Pengfei handed over chopsticks, but Chen Jingyang didn't take them at all. He rested his chin on his hands, looking at him with bright eyes, and in the blink of an eye, he turned into a large dog waiting to be fed.
"Baby," Chen Jingyang's voice was softer than the noodles in the bowl, with a hint of feigned grievance, "I spent half the day dealing with those people from the board of directors, and I'm so tired I can barely lift my arms..."
Zhang Pengfei raised an eyebrow, how could he not know what he was thinking? But he still picked up a mouthful of noodles, pursed his lips and blew on it gently before holding it to Chen Jingyang's lips: "Be careful, it's hot! If you want me to feed you, just say so. Aren't you tired of making up such a lame excuse?"
Chen Jingyang chuckled, obediently opened his mouth, and the noodles slid into his mouth. The warm broth coated the noodles with their aroma, everything was just right, neither too strong nor too weak, but warm enough, and it tasted sweet in his mouth.
"Chen Jingyang," Zhang Pengfei said, handing him a fried egg. "Don't put too much pressure on yourself."
His long eyelashes drooped down, casting a soft shadow under his eyelids. His voice was particularly gentle, yet also very steady: "No matter what happens, I will always stand with you."
Perhaps it was the steam rising from the bowl of noodles in front of him that made Chen Jingyang's eyes suddenly well up with tears. He opened his mouth to catch the fried egg, his heart melting completely.
Although he thought he had disguised himself very well, Zhang Pengfei still sensed it!
No matter how delicious the noodles were, Chen Jingyang lost his appetite and picked Zhang Pengfei up in his arms, carrying him back to the bedroom...
A joint investigation team was quickly established, and both sides soon reached an agreement to conduct standard tests in a clean environment.
Li Jianren suggested conducting chip testing first, and Chen Jingyang shared the same idea. The results came out quickly—the chip's performance fully met the standards, and even exceeded them!
Chen Jingyang suddenly frowned, a bad premonition rising within him!
