Chapter 38 Please go back

Chapter 38 Please go back

Zhang Pengfei really didn't know how to get along with Chen Jingyang!

He was afraid that Chen Jingyang would treat him badly, but he was also afraid that Chen Jingyang would treat him too well. In fact, to be fair, he was the real contradiction!

Chen Jingyang's emotions are usually very stable, but he is the one who is constantly anxious. He cherishes the sense of security that Chen Jingyang brings, but at the same time, he dislikes the constraints that Chen Jingyang imposes on him. Compared to Chen Jingyang, his behavior is less honorable.

Although Chen Jingyang is domineering, he has never really restricted his personal freedom. Even now, no one, including his friends, teachers, and classmates, knows that he lives with Chen Jingyang!

To outsiders, Zhang Pengfei is a completely free person. He goes to class, does internships, and even socializes just like everyone else!

Moreover, apart from the first time he was drunk and not fully conscious, every subsequent time it happened with his consent. It seems that Chen Jingyang never forced him!

Looking back on last night, he still finds it hard to believe. Why would he say such outrageous things?

What kind of person does he take Chen Jingyang for?!

He knew better than anyone how Chen Jingyang treated Zhang Huahua; sometimes Chen Jingyang was even more considerate than his own brother. Yet, he actually told Chen Jingyang not to have any designs on Huahua!

Zhang Pengfei suddenly felt a little contemptuous of himself.

He first slandered Chen Jingyang as a beast, no wonder the usually calm Chen Jingyang was so angry that he kicked him half to death!

The thought of Zhang Huahua made him feel even worse.

The reason he forced Huahua to study was simply because he was afraid that Huahua would be unsuccessful and that she would suffer in the future.

The idea that "all other pursuits are inferior, only studying is superior" has been etched into his mind. Countless children who have moved from the countryside to the city have been inspired by this saying to accomplish the feat of changing the trajectory of their lives.

He believed that reading could change one's destiny, and he hoped that Huahua could also have the opportunity and ability to change her destiny, just like him.

But now that I think about it, can going to university like him really change one's destiny?

What exactly is fate?

Has his fate changed now?

If we count, then from the day Hua Hua arrived in the capital, her fate had already changed!

"Sigh!" Zhang Pengfei's mind was in complete chaos. He opened the chat window with Chen Jingyang, but for a long time he didn't know what to say. In a moment of distraction, he inexplicably sent three words: "I'm sorry."

After sending the message, he was terrified and wanted to retract it immediately, but it was too late—Chen Jingyang called him almost the next second after he sent the message!

"Damn it!" Zhang Pengfei cursed at himself with his eyes closed, bit his lip, and answered the call.

Chen Jingyang's voice instantly reached my ears: "Baby! You're not angry anymore?"

Chen Jingyang used to call him "baby," which sounded very frivolous and sweet. Now, when he calls him "baby," it only feels like he is being cared for and pampered.

But Zhang Pengfei's face turned red and then black with embarrassment—Hua Hua called her Abeibei "baby" every day!

"Can't you fucking call me by my name?!"

Chen Jingyang immediately changed his tune: "Feifei, are you not angry anymore?"

I wasn't angry just now, but now... it's hard to say!

Chen Jingyang said again, "Feifei, I want to see you. Let me go to the hospital, okay?"

Zhang Pengfei sighed: "You can come, but tell that old lady not to come. It's awkward."

"Okay!" Zhang Pengfei immediately heard the sound of a door closing. "I'll be there in about five minutes!"

When Chen Jingyang arrived, about fifteen minutes had already passed. There was nothing he could do; it was only a little past 9 p.m., unlike the early hours of last night when the place was deserted.

There were quite a few vehicles on the road. Even if the Aston Martin was fast, it couldn't run over other cars, could it?

"Baby!" Chen Jingyang pushed open the ward door, stared at Zhang Pengfei, and called out, his eyes involuntarily becoming a little moist.

"Tsk! Call me by my name!" Zhang Pengfei scolded playfully.

Chen Jingyang smiled slightly, closed the door and walked over. He knelt down in front of the hospital bed, took Zhang Pengfei's hand and placed it to his lips, giving it a gentle kiss. He looked up at Zhang Pengfei and said, "I'm sorry, I will never do it again."

"Hmph!" Zhang Pengfei pulled his hand back, glanced at him, and looked up at the ceiling.

Chen Jingyang quickly put on a big smile, pulled over a chair and sat down, then grabbed Zhang Pengfei's hand, kissed it hard, making loud smacking noises, like he was eating a chicken leg.

Zhang Pengfei tried to pull it back in disgust, but couldn't. He let out a laugh and had no choice but to let it go.

"Baby, I've already told the auntie that she doesn't need to come tomorrow. Oh, don't worry, I've already settled her wages for five days."

Zhang Pengfei hummed in agreement: "Is Huahua asleep? Will she wake up suddenly if she's home alone?"

“It’s okay,” Chen Jingyang showed him his phone. “I installed a security camera in her room. Look, she’s sleeping soundly!”

Zhang Pengfei tilted his head to look. A small nightlight was on in the room. Although the light was dim, he could still see Hua Hua's sleeping posture.

"You... found her a tutor?"

Chen Jingyang's expression tightened, and his heart skipped a beat: "Uh, yeah, I think, we're both guys, so we might not really understand girls' thought processes..."

He stared intently at Zhang Pengfei's face, making sure there was no sign of anger, before saying with a sigh, "Having a girl teach her is twice as effective with half the effort, and it's also good for family harmony, don't you think?"

Fearing Zhang Pengfei might object, he added, "Well... we've already prepaid six months' tuition, and it's probably hard to get a refund. How about... we try it out for six months first?"

Zhang Pengfei smiled and exhaled a light breath, which was taken as tacit agreement.

Just as Chen Jingyang was about to speak again, there were two knocks on the door, and a nurse came in to give Zhang Pengfei a routine check-up.

Chen Jingyang stared at the person and asked, "How is it? Has it been restored?"

The nurse smiled and said, "It hasn't even been 24 hours yet, how could it possibly recover?"

Zhang Pengfei hesitated for a moment and asked the nurse, "Can I drink a little water now? Just a little bit, I'm really thirsty."

The nurse shook her head: "Just bear with it. In your condition, you need to fast and abstain from water for at least three days. When the doctor comes to check on you tomorrow morning, he'll see if we need to adjust the IV fluid volume and rate. Just bear with it until then."

Chen Jingyang's eyes twitched with heartache as he asked the nurse, "Is this all we can do but endure it? Is there any way to alleviate the pain?"

The nurse frowned and thought for a moment: "Okay, I'll get you a bottle of saline solution. You can use a cotton swab to apply a small amount to the patient's lips, gums, and oral mucosa. Remember to apply small amounts frequently to avoid too much water flowing into the esophagus."

Chen Jingyang thanked him and, under the nurse's guidance, wiped Zhang Pengfei's mouth. Zhang Pengfei was a little embarrassed and tried to stop her, saying, "How about I do it myself?"

Chen Jingyang didn't respond. Instead, he turned to the nurse and said, "There's nothing wrong here. You can go back now."
