Chapter 59 I Did Nothing Wrong
Afternoon sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows by the pool, casting dappled shadows on the tiles, while the air was filled with the faint smell of disinfectant and chlorine.
The phone rang unexpectedly, and Zhang Pengfei's heart skipped a beat. He subconsciously looked down and his breath caught in his throat—it was Chen Jingyang!
My heart felt like it was being gripped by an invisible hand, and the next second it started pounding uncontrollably, each beat pounding against my chest. The dull thumping sound buzzed in my ears, as if there was something terrifying inside my lungs that was desperately trying to break free and escape.
Zhang Pengfei swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing with a dry, painful sensation. He pressed his trembling wrist tightly with his other hand, barely managing to control his shaking hand as he opened the message.
The screen light reflected on his tense face, and the dialog box contained only a few numbers: 15 minutes, 7005!
He was stunned for a moment, his mind went blank, and it took him a few seconds to realize that Chen Jingyang meant for him to get to room 7005 within 15 minutes!
The Cloud Steps Moon Land Hotel is about 10 kilometers from here. It's not rush hour at this time, so if he sets off now and takes a taxi, he should be able to make it in time.
But the moment that thought crossed Zhang Pengfei's mind, he broke out in a cold sweat!
Chen Jingyang must have known he was still here, which is why he set such a strict time limit!
So that means Chen Jingyang's appearance on the other side of the street today may not be a coincidence at all!
Yes!
He's so stupid!
That monitoring software is so powerful, how could it not even have the most basic location tracking function?!
Zhang Pengfei glanced at Cai Minmin, who was swimming happily and about to reach the other side of the pool; it was too late to say goodbye.
He bit his lip, and without the slightest hesitation, turned around and strode quickly out of the rest area.
His fingers flew across the phone screen as he sent Cai Minmin a message saying, "Something urgent has come up, I have to go now, I'll explain later," before promptly turning off his phone.
He dared not take the risk, nor did he dare to drag Cai Minmin into this mess, and he dared not gamble on what Chen Jingyang might do to him or Cai Minmin if he did not appear at 7005 within 15 minutes!
He knew in his heart that he would definitely be punished for going to 7005 this time, and it would definitely not be easy. If Cai Minmin contacted him during his punishment, by phone or text message, and Chen Jingyang saw it, he didn't even dare to imagine what Chen Jingyang would do.
Therefore, turning off the device is a wise move and good for everyone.
He did everything by himself. It was his decision to get close to Cai Minmin in the first place; now, angering Chen Jingyang is also his consequence.
Let him bear whatever the consequences may be!
Sitting in the taxi, Zhang Pengfei's originally extremely tense nerves inexplicably relaxed.
The street scene outside the car window rushed past, and tall buildings, trees, and pedestrians became blurry shadows.
He knew the road ahead was a dead end, yet he still wanted to stand tall, with a calm as if the dust had settled, a kind of composure as if he were being led to the execution ground by the enemy.
Standing at the door of room 7005 again after several months felt like a lifetime had passed.
He didn't come to this room often, but each time he did, it left an indelible impression.
Many of his firsts happened here, and it was here that he realized how insignificant a dog can be.
No matter how wide your wings are or how hard your teeth are, once you get here, they will pull out everything from you!
Zhang Pengfei took a light breath and knocked on the door.
A few seconds later, the door clicked open, and Chen Jingyang appeared behind it.
Zhang Pengfei looked up and saw that Chen Jingyang looked a bit haggard after only a few hours.
Her hair, which was usually styled meticulously, was now somewhat disheveled, with a few stray strands hanging down her smooth forehead, partially obscuring her eyebrows and eyes.
Those deep, icy eyes seemed frozen solid, calm and expressionless, revealing no emotion, yet exuding a suffocating sense of oppression.
Chen Jingyang didn't say anything, but simply stepped aside to make way and turned to walk back into the room.
Zhang Pengfei silently closed the door, his shoes making no sound on the soft carpet. He followed Chen Jingyang, step by step, into this familiar yet terrifying space.
Chen Jingyang sat calmly in the center of the sofa, a freshly lit cigarette between his fingers.
He took a drag, the smoke lingering between his lips and teeth for a moment before he slowly exhaled, white smoke rings dispersing in the air.
He leaned back on the sofa, looking at Zhang Pengfei without saying a word.
Zhang Pengfei stood two meters in front of Chen Jingyang, his index fingernail scraping hard against the pad of his thumb. After a few seconds of silence, he sighed softly and looked at him frankly: "I'll accept whatever you want. Speak!"
Chen Jingyang remained expressionless. After exhaling the smoke from his mouth, he said calmly, "I remember teaching you what posture to use when talking to me."
Zhang Pengfei opened his mouth, his eyelashes trembled slightly, but after a moment, he said nothing and bent his knees.
Chen Jingyang, with a cigarette between his fingers, slowly put it in his mouth, took another drag, and let the white smoke drift away, creating a hazy mist: "Who is that woman? Little Flower Vegetable?"
Zhang Pengfei lowered his head and replied in a low voice, "Yes."
"How did you meet? How long have you known each other? What have you been doing?"
"We met at a dinner party, it's been over 20 days, we ate together..."
Zhang Pengfei paused slightly, clenched his fingers, and took a slow, deep breath: "...We kissed."
"Did she force you?"
Zhang Pengfei shook his head: "No."
Why did you do that?
Zhang Pengfei remained silent.
What did he say? Did he want to test whether he was still a real man?
Chen Jingyang stubbed out his cigarette in the ashtray, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes like lightning tearing through the night sky, chilling to the bone: "Come here!"
Zhang Pengfei's fingernails dug fiercely into his palm, his eyelashes fluttered a few times, and he reached Chen Jingyang's feet.
Chen Jingyang hooked his chin, tilting his face up: "Tell me! Why did you do this!"
Zhang Pengfei's Adam's apple bobbed up and down, and after a moment he said, "For no reason."
Chen Jingyang kicked it out!
Zhang Pengfei was kicked to the ground and hadn't even gotten up when he heard Chen Jingyang's icy voice: "Come here!"
Once he recovered, Chen Jingyang put his foot back on the ground and asked the same question again: "Tell me, why did you do this!"
Zhang Pengfei answered again, "No reason," and was kicked away by Chen Jingyang again before coming back.
Chen Jingyang bent down, grabbed Zhang Pengfei's face with his hand, and struggled to resist the urge to slap him. His voice was almost squeezed out through clenched teeth: "Do you know you're wrong?"
Zhang Pengfei's pupils were as clear as calm water as he looked at him calmly: "I did nothing wrong."
Chen Jingyang suddenly exerted force, and Zhang Pengfei's face instantly showed pain: "Say it again!"
"...I did nothing wrong."
