Chapter 27 It's still up to you.
"Zhang Pengfei!" Chen Jingyang called out in a low voice and patted Zhang Pengfei on the shoulder.
Zhang Pengfei seemed to wake from a dream, his forehead covered in cold sweat, his face pale as a ghost. He glanced at Chen Jingyang with a complicated expression, then lowered his head and hugged Zhang Huahua tightly, like a person adrift at sea clinging to a piece of driftwood. It was unclear whether he was comforting his sister or himself: "It's alright."
Chen Jingyang didn't know what Zhang Pengfei was thinking at that moment, but he was certain it wasn't anything good.
Zhang Pengfei's expression was so horrified that it was as if he had suddenly discovered he was walking in a crowd wearing the Emperor's New Clothes!
"It's just a few lightning bolts, why are you so scared!" Chen Jingyang tried to ease the tension, opening his arms to encircle Zhang Pengfei and Zhang Huahua, but Zhang Pengfei visibly trembled!
A sudden surge of anger welled up inside Chen Jingyang: What have I done to you! Why are you so disgusted with me?!
Actually, Zhang Huahua is such an innocent child, how could she possibly see anything? She was just simply describing what she saw, and she didn't have any of those messy thoughts at all.
But Zhang Pengfei and Chen Jingyang, feeling guilty, insisted that they couldn't do anything about how a seven-year-old girl could see through their complicated relationship.
Zhang Pengfei calmed down and looked at Chen Jingyang as if Chen Jingyang owed him millions: "I'll sleep with Huahua tonight, you go to sleep by yourself."
Chen Jingyang hated this kind of behavior the most, and immediately refused: "No, I want to sleep with Huahua tonight too!"
Hua Hua had no objections and immediately raised both hands in agreement: "Great! Great!"
She was happy to have two older brothers sleeping with her. Perhaps this is a woman's innate need for security, especially the protection from high-quality men like Zhang Pengfei and Chen Jingyang. The more the merrier.
Zhang Pengfei was initially surprised, then felt a surge of nameless irritation—couldn't they even let him off the hook?!
He coldly refused: "The bed is too small, there's no room for you!"
Chen Jingyang smiled and said, "It's okay, we'll squeeze in."
Hua Hua simply tossed the plush toys from the bed onto the bookshelf to make room for them, and proudly asked for praise: "Now I can sleep! Just stick close to me! Aren't I amazing!"
Zhang Pengfei opened his mouth for a long time before finally uttering a sound: "Heh!"
Damn it, how did I end up with such a silly little sister!
Chen Jingyang beamed and praised Hua Hua: "Oh my, as expected of our Hua Hua, so clever!"
After being praised, Hua Hua acted even faster. She immediately lay down, patted the empty space on the bed, and called to her two brothers, "Come on, come on!"
Zhang Pengfei sighed and lay down next to Hua Hua. Chen Jingyang turned and lay down next to Zhang Pengfei, sticking to him like a piece of paper.
Zhang Pengfei, feeling awkward in the sandwich, didn't want his sister to know, so he secretly squeezed back, hoping Chen Jingyang wouldn't be so close to him. But this movement made him freeze instantly.
Zhang Pengfei turned around instantly, glaring angrily: "You...!"
Chen Jingyang wrapped one arm around his waist and calmly closed his eyes: "Go to sleep!"
How the hell can I sleep?!
After Hua Hua fell asleep, Zhang Pengfei elbowed Chen Jingyang off the bed, snorted coldly, and went back to their room.
Chen Jingyang grimaced and rubbed his chest before immediately following.
"Lock the door!" Zhang Pengfei shouted coldly.
Chen Jingyang chuckled: "Alright~, Suo Suo Suo, do you really have to be this angry? You're the only one in the world who gives me attitude every day."
Zhang Pengfei glared at him: "Shouldn't I have done that? Do you think what you did was right? That was on my sister's bed!"
Chen Jingyang had no way to refute this question, nor did he intend to avoid it: "Then what do you suggest? I can't stand being near you, and I want to control it, but it won't listen!"
Zhang Pengfei didn't know what to do either; he couldn't just chop him up!
Chen Jingyang looked at Zhang Pengfei pitifully, took his hand, and smiled ingratiatingly: "You still have to do it."
Zhang Pengfei rubbed his temples in exasperation, utterly baffled as to why the gap between the two was so vast!
Chen Jingyang asked Zhang Pengfei, "What were you thinking when you saw something like a ghost in Huahua's room just now?"
"It's nothing." Zhang Pengfei didn't want to talk to him.
Chen Jingyang pulled him close: "Speak quickly!"
"I'm thinking, the school will make boarding mandatory from the third grade. I wonder if Huahua will be able to adapt then."
Chen Jingyang didn't believe it: "Really?"
"Believe it or not!" Zhang Pengfei turned around and pulled the blanket over his head.
This time, Chen Jingyang didn't dare to pull it open again, afraid that the quilt would be ruined as soon as it was put into use. He quietly pulled the quilt open a crack, blew a breath into the person's ear, and threatened, "Try lying to me!"
Zhang Pengfei ignored him and pulled the blanket over his head again, looking like he really wanted to sleep.
Chen Jingyang pulled the blanket open a crack again, leaving a red mark on the person's face, and covered them up again before they could get angry: "Goodnight, baby."
Zhang Pengfei let out a deep, heavy breath. There was nothing he could do; Chen Jingyang did this every night, it had become a bedtime routine, and he couldn't turn off the machine without giving him a good slap on the face!
Chen Jingyang fell asleep almost instantly, his muffled snores booming from afar and never ceasing.
Zhang Pengfei seemed to have gotten used to Chen Jingyang's snoring, which was like a lullaby. During the few days he went back to his hometown, he couldn't fall asleep without the snoring by his pillow!
Time passed by at a leisurely pace, and before we knew it, it was time for Hua Hua to start school.
Hua Hua was very excited. She had packed her schoolbag and uniform last night. She woke up before Zhang Pengfei had even made breakfast and ran to the kitchen to see what delicious food her brother was making.
"Wow, steamed egg custard and vegetable pancakes, they smell so good, brother!"
Zhang Pengfei smiled indulgently: "Go brush your teeth and wash your face. The milk is already heated up. I'll fry this pork chop, and then we can start eating."
Hua Hua looked towards the bedroom: "Where's Brother Jingyang?"
Chen Jingyang stayed up all night last night, I don't know what work he was working on, but he probably won't wake up for a while.
Zhang Pengfei lowered his voice: "Brother Jingyang is still sleeping. Be quiet and don't wake him up."
Zhang Huahua stuck out her tongue: "Brother Jingyang is such a lazybones."
Zhang Pengfei paused, instinctively wanting to say a few words in defense of Chen Jingyang.
Chen Jingyang is not a lazybones at all; on the contrary, he is very diligent!
Zhang Pengfei considers himself a diligent person, but Chen Jingyang's diligence is in no way inferior to his!
Objectively speaking, Chen Jingyang is the kind of person who is both smart and hardworking. Even if he hadn't been born into such a wealthy family, his achievements would not have been any less!
Of course, he's even more dedicated in bed.
However, putting that matter aside, Zhang Pengfei greatly admires and even respects Chen Jingyang!
