Chapter 14: Exchange is still an upgrade

Chapter 14: Exchange is still an upgrade

The training match on the field continued. Although Sawada Tsunayoshi would complain of being tired, in reality, his stamina was comparable to that of fifth and sixth graders. As a result, his teammates would often forget that Tsunayoshi was one of the youngest students in the summer camp.

For example, Matsukawa now completely sees Sawada Tsunayoshi as his senpai, and he even pauses for a moment when he occasionally hears Tsunayoshi call him senpai.

Sawada Tsunayoshi had heard Hinata say that when playing volleyball, he would always immerse himself in his own world, unable to hear the outside world, and everyone else would become silent statues, as if only he and the volleyball remained on the entire volleyball court.

But Tsuna had never encountered such a situation before. His court was noisy, with opponents running and passing, teammates leaning forward to serve, and everyone always making so many small movements.

The tangled clues were like a ball of yarn, and Sawada Tsunayoshi had never been able to unravel them. He felt he was too stupid, so he always acted on his instincts.

Perhaps the ball should have been passed here?

He might have been uncertain, but his thoughts and actions were decisive, and his arrows never missed their mark.

I was quite lucky; even Tsunayoshi, who's slow on the uptake, noticed this.

"I still think he's better suited to be a setter. It would be a waste not to use his passing awareness as a setter," Kujo said confidently after watching for a while.

Suzuki shook his head in disapproval, "He's also very good at being an attacker. He's agile and his ability to adjust his attacks is top-notch among his peers. You can't assume that everyone should be a setter just because you play setter yourself."

Kujo retorted unhappily, "Dare you say that your little scheme doesn't include the fact that you used to be a attacker?"

The two men each had their own reasons and couldn't convince each other, so they simply asked the female coach standing next to them to give her opinion.

The female coach seemed thoughtful, "Actually, I think Sawada would be perfect as a libero too."

Kujo and Suzuki: "..."

"I'm not kidding, but look at his reaction speed and his judgment of where the ball will land. He's outstanding in every aspect. He's clearly a promising libero!"

Suzuki asked, "What position did you play before?" They hadn't played together in high school.

The female coach touched her nose sheepishly, "Free agent."

So Kujo and Suzuki angrily accused each other of favoring the libero, and then the female coach loudly retorted that the two of them also had their own ulterior motives. The three of them then had a heated argument about which position Sawada Tsunayoshi was best suited to play, and finally parted on bad terms.

Sawada Tsunayoshi, who was taking a break on the court, sneezed twice in a row. Before he could react, a player handed him a training uniform and told him to put it on so he wouldn't catch a cold.

Sawada Tsunayoshi spread out his clothes, which were several sizes too big, making his already short stature appear even smaller.

Matsukawa grabbed the clothes and stuffed them back in an annoyed manner.

"It's so hot today, and we just had a match. Are you trying to make Tsuna suffer from heatstroke?"

Looking at the short guy with a red nose, the group of people suddenly felt a sense of responsibility as seniors and patted their chests to assure him that they would perform perfectly to reduce the pressure on Tsuna.

Sawada Tsunayoshi, recalling the number of times he had been tricked in the previous round, gave an awkward but polite smile. There was absolutely no credibility to what they were saying.

But ultimately, to protect his teammates' confidence, he suppressed his complaints and said, "I believe in everyone."

The smile that showed the setter's trust (?) made the libero Matsukawa seem to bear a heavy responsibility, determined to fight for his setter.

Several teams took turns playing, and their next opponent was Hyuga and his team.

Hyuga's eyes lit up when she saw Tsuna, "Tsuna, I won't hold back!"

He said exactly the same thing as when they were playing games. He didn't say anything, his gaze lingering on Hinata's training clothes, which were a different color from the others. Under these circumstances, there was no credibility in what Hinata was saying.

Sensing the gaze, Hinata jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, complaining through the net.

"Even though I'm terrible at catching the ball, does that warrant such a distrustful look?"

"Is it that obvious?" Sawada Tsunayoshi clasped his hands together in embarrassment, while Asahikata closed one eye.

Before he could say much, Matsukawa pounced on Tsuna from behind, hugging his neck tightly, and said provocatively to Hinata,

"Why are you telling me this? Today, I'm Tsuna's personal free agent."

It was probably some kind of duel between free agents. Sawada Tsunayoshi didn't stop Matsukawa, choosing between friends and teammates, ultimately choosing his teammates and indulging Matsukawa's nagging all day.

"Saki's free agent is indeed very capable."

Finally hearing his own name spoken by Tsunayoshi, Matsukawa Saki became even more smug, dragging Tsunayoshi back to the rear.

As soon as Sawada Tsunayoshi was out of Hyuga's sight, he quickly patted Matsukawa's arm, telling him to let go.

"It's too tight, I can't breathe!"

Seeing that he had almost murdered the setter, Matsukawa quickly let go. Tsuna rubbed his neck, but still said to Matsukawa,

"Provocation is actually useless against Xiao Xiang."

Or rather, those words just now only excited Hinata Shoyo even more.

Matsukawa nodded, the flames raging behind him seeming to melt the volleyball court; he didn't dare turn around.

"It's really not very useful."

"Oh, oh, oh, we absolutely have to beat them!" Hinata immediately found his role as the setter for the day, and Kujou Hayate was also swept up in the excitement.

"Smash them!"

Akaashi started having a headache again. Had these two forgotten the tragedy that happened last time?

Although both sides were highly motivated before the match, they both revealed their true colors during the game.

Kujoike also put his hands on his hips and looked up at the sky, "Shoyo, next time could you at least reduce the force of the ball before giving it to me? It just flew over like a cannonball!"

"Who is this shell trying to kill?!" he wailed as he watched the ball fly to the other side.

Matsukawa, being a libero after all, easily received the ball and delivered a good pass that neutralized the force and arc, then gave Hinata a provocative look.

Actually, Sawada Tsunayoshi didn't quite understand why Matsukawa-senpai, who was timid and cowardly, insisted on provoking his opponent. Just as he was thinking about who to pass the ball to, he noticed that the libero attacker also had a smug look on his face and was muttering something to himself.

Tsuna listened intently and realized that the other person was saying "We won".

Classmate, is it possible that although the opposing libero didn't make a good call and our libero was indeed very skilled, today it's not your turn to beat the libero?

In the end, he passed the ball to the middle blocker according to his own idea. Hyuga on the other side shouted "I'll take it" and rushed over to receive the ball. The unreliable libero who had just promised to receive the ball properly successfully received it, but still dropped the ball like a bomber, this time even a low-altitude bombing!

Seeing the ball about to fly under the net, Akaashi Kyoji immediately crouched down to cushion it, then turned and jumped decisively, smashing the ball to score with a blank expression.

Matsukawa and the others were caught off guard by the ball and didn't react. Sawada Tsunayoshi comforted them,

"It's okay, it's normal to miss this ball."

Matsukawa wiped his sweat, got up from the ground, and walked over to Tsunayoshi's side, watching the two players on the opposite side playfully bickering as they faced off.

"Their tactics are pretty clever. I thought it was Kujo going to pass the ball, but who would have thought it was a fake dunk and a real pass."

Sawada Tsunayoshi remained silent. Although he also wanted to say that the other party's tactics were excellent, he knew his friend too well and, after putting himself in the other person's shoes, he had already begun to sympathize with Ikeya.

Kujo thought of Hyuga, who had also drawn a free agent role the day before yesterday, and how Tsunayoshi had been his partner back then. This was the first time he had ever admired someone so much.

"Tsunayoshi is truly a god-like person who can cooperate with you."

Hinata peeked out from behind Akaashi and said, "That's how it is when I play basketball with Tsuna."

"What an accommodating setter. Luckily, I didn't listen to my dad and become a setter, otherwise I would have fought to the death with my teammates in the game sooner or later." Kujo Ike was also full of relief.

"Tolerance?" Hyuga crouched down, watching the opponent's movements intently like a cat preparing to hunt, adjusting his center of gravity to receive the ball.

"Xiao Gang's personality is indeed very tolerant, but I actually think his passing is very domineering."

Akaashi subconsciously repeated the word that seemed completely unrelated to Tsunayoshi, "Domineering?"

Because the match was still ongoing, Hinata wasn't given much time to explain.

Kyoji Akaashi then observed the opposing team with a discerning eye and discovered that their teamwork was much better than theirs. The setter was intentionally directing the attackers and coordinating with each player's attack points and positioning. Compared to Ikeya Kujo, a setter with a strong sense of self who felt that the ball should be passed to a certain place, Ikeya was much more domineering.

Sawada Tsunayoshi was panting heavily. He rarely engaged in fast attacks with attackers other than Hyuga. He wasn't familiar with the people here, and his own skills weren't good enough to immediately coordinate with unfamiliar attackers.

Many people are drawn to his eyes, which are much larger than others, when they first meet him, and then become captivated by his honey-colored pupils, thinking that Tsunayoshi is an easy person to get along with.

It also means that they are easy to bully.

However, Sawada Tsunayoshi mostly fits these first impressions; he is always very gentle with his friends.

Akaashi stared for a while before realizing what Hinata meant by "domineering".

Sawada Tsunayoshi was like a tyrant. He seemed to know everyone too well, so he passed the ball directly without thinking. Akaashi noticed that Tsunayoshi's pass was not fast, as if he wanted to give the attackers time to react.

Why give the attackers time to react?

Since Sawada Tsunayoshi has already made his choice to spike, what he needs now is for his attackers to bring him victory.

During the break, Kujo Ike also came over and said, "Have you guys noticed that the attackers over there rarely ask for the ball?"

Volleyball is a very noisy sport. The attacker on the Hyuga team chuckled; he'd been yelling at Kujo the whole time during the match.

For example, "Give me the ball, you bastard!"

Otherwise, he would really worry that Kujo Ike would just spike the ball over himself, and then what would be the point of him playing?

Akaashi organized his thoughts, "It's because they trust Tsunayoshi a lot, knowing that the other party will pass the ball to them at the right time."

Kujo Ike also didn't understand, "If it were me, I might have really forgotten to pass the ball to you if you guys didn't want it."

The middle blocker chimed in, "So you're an attacker? Setters are really good at balancing things out."
