Chapter 3 Pain When you are serious about doing something, ...
When you do something seriously, no one will laugh at you.
Sawada Tsunayoshi is a very strange guy. He is always a complete mess when it comes to himself, but he will do anything for his friends.
"Oh, Tsuna-kun, you're up really early today."
"Because I made a promise with Xiaoxiang to run together."
This was probably the earliest Tsuna had ever gotten up in his life. He shook his sore arms, grimaced, and pushed open his front door. He hadn't eaten breakfast and planned to eat it after he finished his run.
Namise Elementary School doesn't start classes that early, so even after the two of them finish running a lap, they still have plenty of time to take a shower, have breakfast, and then leisurely walk to school.
Hinata didn't know when he got up, but the first thing Tsuna saw when he opened the door was Hinata playing ball in his yard, bouncing it up and down as if he would never get tired.
The opponent spotted him out of the corner of his eye, but instead of immediately putting down the volleyball, he muttered something and counted to one hundred before stopping his pass. Tsuna, seeing him stop, then walked over to him.
"Wow, Xiao Xiang, getting a hundred is already a perfect score."
If Tsuna were to do the ball himself, it would inevitably fly off his arm in all sorts of ways. Before last night, his record was still 27 balls in one go without stopping.
It wasn't until last night, when Xiao Xiang and Xiao Zheng gave him a thorough dressing-down on his arm posture, pointing out things like clasping his hands together or keeping his arms straight—things he hadn't even considered before.
Thinking of this, his arm started to hurt again. He looked at him with admiration and asked, "Xiao Xiang, doesn't your arm hurt at all?"
Hinata's boastful expression fell as he rubbed his arm. "It hurts so much! I used to do all the ball setting by myself, but yesterday Tsuna helped me practice spiking. My arm was swinging around a lot, and it still feels sore and achy."
Upon hearing this, Tsuna realized that this was still a bit better than what he had experienced. This was probably the consequence of not exercising regularly; his entire body ached terribly.
After Hinata put the volleyball aside, the two ran out of the yard and ran side by side to the open space they had been on the day before. They had found out where Irie Shoichi lived when they got home last night, so Hinata decided to go and see if Shoichi was awake first, then practice a set of mats, and then run back.
Sawada Tsunayoshi was naturally not at fault. Just running alongside Hyuga was enough to give him trouble. All he could think about was running ahead of Hyuga. Even when they reached Masaru's house, he kept running straight ahead. Hyuga immediately grabbed him and stopped Tsunayoshi from continuing to rush forward.
Tsuna stopped, clutching his knees and panting heavily, while Hyuga jumped up to look at the second floor of the Irie family's house. The curtains were all tightly closed, and the Irie family's house was peaceful and harmonious.
Hinata, feeling quite disappointed, put his hands on his hips and smacked his lips, waiting for Tsuna to catch his breath before continuing to run.
"Squat down, straighten your arms, and then thud—, hit it out." Hyuga instructed Tsunayoshi on his movements, it was impressive that he could still repeat what the volleyball coach had said in the video last night.
Tsuna looked serious, waiting for Hyuga to pass the ball to him. Thankfully, their progress had finally increased from one round to ten. Last night, a single round meant Hyuga would pass the ball, Tsuna would pass it, and then the ball would fly away. Or vice versa.
In short, it ended with the ball flying away.
On their way home, they passed by the Irie family's house again, and the two of them leaned over the courtyard wall to look out the second-floor window. Irie Shoichi had just woken up; he sleepily drew back the curtains, yawning as he prepared to greet the day's sunshine.
He'd been working on code until the early hours of the morning and was now looking exhausted. Halfway through his stretch, he suddenly choked on his own saliva and coughed violently.
With his back hunched, Irie stared intently at the two fuzzy little puddings that had sprouted from the wall of his yard. What were those two doing? Didn't they agree to meet tonight?
Seeing that Irie Shoichi was frightened by them, Hyuga and Tsuna were very satisfied. The two of them jumped down from the courtyard wall with laughter and ran home as if some red-haired monster was chasing them.
"Zhengyi, your two little friends have run away." My older sister's voice came from downstairs.
Just as he was about to open the window, Irie Masakazu was filled with resentment. He slammed the curtains shut, then, remembering it was morning, slammed them open again. "So what if they ran away!"
He didn't refute his sister's statement that they were friends; his mind was filled with thoughts of giving those two a good scolding that night.
"It's one thing for Xiao Xiang to go crazy, but why did you join in his madness, Xiao Gang!" He was so shy and well-behaved yesterday, and Irie Masakazu finally carried out the reprimand he had been waiting for all day.
Sawada Tsunayoshi shrank his neck and stuck out his tongue, looking exactly like Hinata yesterday.
But this movement was too much for his already strained cervical spine; even a slight tilt of his head caused his joints to creak and groan like old furniture.
"Ouch!" He clutched his neck.
Finally, Irie, the last of the three to retain her rationality, opened her notebook and, imitating the actions of the nurses in the book, began to massage Tsuna.
"I'm really fed up with you two. Don't you even know how to warm up before playing ball?"
With his neck in Shoichi's hands, Tsuna remained silent, like a quiet little ostrich. Hyuga, on the other hand, pretended to be a mindless little mushroom, probably an orange-flavored little mushroom.
Despite laughing at his own imagined scenario, Irie Shoichi kept a straight face. He gestured for Tsuna to raise his arm and began massaging the other's tense joints.
"He's still just a child," he sighed with an air of composure.
"Let me guess, you didn't stretch after you got home last night?"
The answer was easily obtained through silence, and the pressure on his hands unconsciously increased slightly. Sawada Tsunayoshi couldn't help but let out a soft "Ow!" He turned his head with his numb neck, looking pitiful, his lips pursed.
"Xiao Zheng, could you be a little gentler?"
As Zheng Yi, who had subconsciously softened his movements under his gaze, regained his senses, he increased the force again.
He said fiercely, "This is what happens when you don't warm up properly. Remember that!"
Sawada Tsunayoshi remained silent, lying peacefully on Irie Shoichi's lap, as if he were dead. The other guy, who hadn't warmed up or stretched but was far more physically fit than Tsunayoshi and therefore didn't feel much pain, crouched in the corner, still shaken. "Shoichi, how scary!"
When the terrifying female voice in the video ended, Tsuna and Hinata both breathed a sigh of relief; the stretching session was finally over!
The future commander of the Melenino base is already showing promise. He uses his information retrieval abilities, which are completely out of character for his age, to screen and formulate a preliminary training program for Hinata and Tsunayoshi, which is appropriate for their age, to prevent the two clueless guys from doing anything reckless.
While clocking out, he muttered to himself, "Should I really consult a professional? Hinata and Tsuna's physical abilities are completely different, this is so troublesome. But I should ask a sports coach, not a regular doctor. By the way, are there any nutritionists in Namimori? Or should I find a coach online?"
Meanwhile, Tsuna and Hinata's expressions gradually shifted from bewilderment to a more profound understanding. Not daring to interrupt the Great Demon King's self-contained thoughts, Hinata, holding a volleyball, winked at Tsuna.
Want to play volleyball?
Tsuna nodded slowly.
〔beat. 〕
The Demon King's authority has been initially established. Hyuga and Tsuna obediently completed the training plan strictly prescribed by Irie Shoichi, while Irie Shoichi continued to modify his code beside them, occasionally glancing up to see if the two had done anything outside the plan.
At that moment, none of them anticipated that this scene would last for a very long time, long enough to be measured in years.
Hearing the thuds and clangs of the ball being passed around him, Irie Shoichi thought, "Oh no, have I been led astray to use such onomatopoeia?" He felt like he was going to die while thinking, "Tsuna doesn't seem to like volleyball that much, so why is he playing as hard as Sho?"
According to him, making robots is very interesting. His current task is to create a super-powerful robot weapon that combines offense and defense. As for Xiangyang, he is probably training hard with volleyball as his goal.
Only Sawada Tsunayoshi lacked a clear ambition, yet he possessed a level of resolve no less than the other two present. His fingers kept tapping on the keyboard, but he unconsciously switched to the interface to contact a doctor. Perhaps it was because of this uncomprehending resolve that Irie Shoichi, who was usually only focused on himself, pushed up his glasses, repeatedly breaking his own plans to worry about them.
"Watch out, Xiao Gang!"
"Ouch!" Tsuna tripped over a protruding rock again. The question mark in Tsuna's head almost materialized. There weren't any rocks here just now, so where did they come from?
He played for two days according to Tsuna's schedule. Yes, for Tsuna now, volleyball is more like a game to play with friends, although it is much more tiring than ordinary games.
Two days later, Irie Shoichi, having learned something new, approached the two and said that he needed to get a full physical examination this weekend so that he could further develop a plan based on the coach's instructions.
Mrs. Hyuga had already planned to have Hyuga undergo a medical check-up, and upon hearing that her son wanted it for better volleyball training, she readily approved the funding. Mrs. Sawada, however, had no concept of a medical check-up. Although she didn't understand, she, as always, didn't question it and agreed to the expense, without even asking Tsunayoshi what the check-up was for.
Because her son and Tsuna got along so well, Mrs. Hyuga couldn't help but take notice of the seemingly mild-mannered, doughy Tsuna from next door. She once again noticed Sawada Nana's indifference towards little Tsuna from this incident, and she had no doubt that Sawada Nana didn't even know that Tsuna had been playing volleyball with Hyuga every night for the past few days.
Thinking about what Shoyo had said about what happened at school, Mrs. Hyuga sighed. Having never met Tsuna's father, it was foreseeable that young Tsuna would be bullied in such a family.
Tsuna is a child who is quite different from Shoyo. They are both warm, but Tsuna can be described as having a rare gentleness among boys his age.
So, Mrs. Hyuga looked at Sawada Tsunayoshi, who was cautiously asking at the door, and gently let him in, explaining that Hyuga was still washing up in his room.
Hinata refused her mother's offer to accompany her to the medical check-up because Tsunayoshi was also alone; this was a decision she had made the night before.
She called to Xiangyang, who was about to leave, picked up a lunchbox that was far too extravagant for him alone, and said with a smile,
"You can't eat before the blood test, so let's eat together after the physical exam."
She noticed that Tsuna had walked into their house empty-handed, and Hyuga nodded solemnly, he had noticed it too.
A note from the author:
----------------------
Xiao Zheng is quite overpowered, but within the worldview of Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, he's considered a normal person (what a strange statement, haha).
I've always held a sense of awe towards him and Spanner, who can build Gundams by hand; I feel like such geniuses can do anything (kneeling).
This is because I want my little solar energy to have a healthy body. If I take care of its joints from a young age, maybe it can grow a few centimeters longer in this article (starting to dream).
I feel like the mother who can raise such a high-energy baby as Hinata must be really great.
