Chapter 163 Encountering the Demon Race Again

Led by the young waiter, the group followed the muddy and rugged path upwards until they finally arrived at the renowned Qingyuan Tower. However, it was just a dilapidated, low, old wooden building with yellowed doors. A gentle breeze blew through it, and it creaked and groaned, as if it could be blown apart at any moment...

"This is Qingyuan Tower, senior!"

The young servant boy smiled, his eyes revealing undisguised envy. Li Sisui stared wide-eyed, his face filled with disbelief.

"So this dilapidated building is called Qingyuan Building? Are you sure it's safe for people to live in?"

"Senior, you can't say things like that carelessly. If the people inside hear this, it will be troublesome. I am weak and frail, so I don't expect to be able to get in. But it's not so certain for you, senior. The rest of the way depends on you. If you need anything after you come out, you can come and find me again!"

The wine boy looked sincere, not like he was lying. Li Sisui glanced at Leng Rushuang, who nodded slowly, expressionless, and was about to walk inside when Li Sisui quickly stopped her and whispered:

"We're in an unfamiliar place, it might not be wise to just barge in like this. I think it would be best to bring him along, so we can look out for each other. What do you think?"

As he spoke, Li Si glanced at the wine boy, his cold, scythe-like eyes fixed straight ahead, and his lips moved slightly as he said:

"casual……"

The young boy had been mingling in Broken Halberd City for a long time. His strength was unknown, but his ability to read people was absolutely first-rate. Seeing that Li Sixui was going to take him in with him, he immediately showed a look of ecstatic joy and excitedly spun around on the spot, looking like he couldn't wait.

"You should come with us. It'll be good to have someone to look after you inside..."

"Alright, thank you very much, senior. I should make it clear beforehand that I am penniless and have nothing to offer as collateral. If you don't mind, senior, I will gladly serve you without hesitation!"

"Stop talking nonsense, let's go!"

Upon hearing this, the young man jumped for joy. He had really made the right choice with the drinks today, betting on a dark horse without even realizing it. And that wasn't all; he even managed to build a relationship with the dark horse, and now his dream of visiting Qingyuan Tower, which he had never dared to dream of, was about to come true. This was just too exciting! Haha!

Bang!

The young servant pushed open the dilapidated wooden door of Qingyuan Tower. A thick cloud of dust, rippling through the room, instantly filled the space. Li Si and the others instinctively covered their mouths and noses, their brows furrowed in disgust. The servant, however, seemed unfazed, leading the way through the thick dust to a cracked table. He pounded on the surface, shouting:

"Someone come quick! Is anyone there? We have guests! Hurry up!"

Before the words were even finished, the oil lamp in the corner of the previously dimly lit room was suddenly lit, followed by a series of lanterns. The previously precarious roof was filled with the sound of hurried footsteps, and someone even fell with a thud...

In the dim light, the interior of Qingyuan Tower seemed to be filtered, looking antique and elegant, like a faded old photograph. It was much more pleasing to the eye than the dilapidated exterior. Just as Li Sisui was at a loss, a dark shadow suddenly shot down from the roof beam and flew straight towards the table!

Li Sisui and Leng Rushuang were startled by the dark figure and took several steps back. Although Diao Bao didn't react, the squeaking sound it made became much louder, as if it had sensed some threat. Only Jiu Tong looked excited, as if he hadn't seen anything, and stared intently at the table!

A moment later, in the dim light, the group could finally see clearly that the dark shadow they had just seen was actually a plump rat with glossy black fur and two large, golden front teeth, which gave the rat a strangely comical appearance. Just as Li Sisui was about to ask a question, the rat spoke:

"I'm not some distinguished guest, I'm just a beggar!"

"Uncle Hei, don't look down on people. The person who came today is the real deal. If you neglect him, the host will hold you accountable!"

The wine boy was clearly very familiar with this black rat, even addressing it with great intimacy. If it weren't for the fact that it was a genuine black rat, you could easily mistake it for a family member...

"Hey kid, how many people have you managed to fool? In the end, they didn't even get inside Qingyuan Tower. Stop causing trouble. They were sleeping soundly, and you disturbed them. If you mess around like this again, don't worry about me turning on you!"

Although the black rat had shifty eyes, its tone was full of vigor, giving off an aura of righteousness. Li Sisui looked at the comical yet bizarre scene before him, momentarily at a loss for words. The wine boy, however, seemed completely unfazed and retorted:

"Calling you 'Uncle' makes you think you're someone important, doesn't it? You're just a lowly underling of the Lord, yet you act like you're above everyone else. Humph, you don't even know who's behind you before you start making judgments!"

The black rat rubbed its sleepy little eyes, glanced blankly at Li Sisui, and then let out a shrill "squeak," as if someone had stepped on its tail. The sudden movement startled Li Sisui, who was afraid that the little thing would pounce on him. The big black rat was a childhood trauma that he could never shake off, and even now, as a cultivator, he could not resist this fear and disgust...

"The Sword God of Wulipo!"

The black rat leaped high into the air, landing upright. Its two tiny black eyes suddenly became piercing, staring intently at Li Sisui with a gleaming light. The latter, feeling a chill run down his spine, asked in return:

"What...what exactly is this thing?"

"Senior, he's the doorman at Qingyuan Tower and also in charge of its finances. He's quite snobbish, but he's very well-informed. If you want to ask anything, just ask him. I just don't know if you have enough money to pay him..."
