While I wouldn't presume to claim I can roam freely in the wilderness, at least I can run away if I can't win a fight.
After his cultivation was restored, Li Sisui's confidence gradually returned.
The sleeping boy rolled over, his face contorted in pain, and abruptly sat up, exclaiming:
"Don't go!"
His eyes were wide with terror as he stared ahead, until he saw Li Sisui's questioning gaze, at which point he snapped out of his daze and stammered:
"Phew, I had a nightmare!"
"What nightmare?"
"I dreamt that everyone left me, and the sky above me was blood-red. It was terrifying and oppressive!"
"Wake up, it's time to hit the road!"
Li Sisui said with a light laugh. After recovering his cultivation, Li Sisui's mood improved.
Xisheng jumped up, but cried out in pain again. He had forgotten about his injury the day before after taking a nap.
Such impetuousness made Li Sisui unconsciously raise the corners of his mouth, and his long-standing feeling of loneliness was swept away.
As dawn broke, the two emerged from the tree hollow and, guided by Xisheng, headed towards Xiangma Village.
To be on the safe side, Li Sisui led the boy through the trees for a while before landing on the ground, making sure there was no danger.
The young man traveled the route with ease, occasionally introducing the scenery along the way to Li Sisui, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere throughout the journey.
The closer one gets to Xiangma Village, the clearer the mournful sound becomes, growing louder as it approaches.
It sounded like a giant drinking water by the river, or like the sound of countless horses galloping across the water.
Li Sisui looked at the young man in front of him with a puzzled expression and said:
"Xisheng, what's that sound?"
"The village is nestled against the Ruoshui River, and this sound can be heard every morning, which is also the origin of the village's name," Xisheng said with a grin.
The village of Xiangma is hidden in a forest of giant trees, which stand in stark contrast to the low-lying trees around it.
Upon arriving at the village entrance, one can see a seemingly endless river rushing past the village, yet strangely, it makes no sound.
According to the Cloud Piercer's Manual, the banks of the Weak Water River are silent and still, so quiet that even a feather cannot float, making it impossible to cross.
It is said that the You Clan often appears in the Weak Water, but there is no conclusive evidence; it is all hearsay and it is difficult to distinguish between truth and falsehood.
Li Sisui stood at the village entrance, watching Xiu enter the village step by step, his heart filled with a warm feeling.
Sending Xisheng back to the village felt like a lost child being escorted back to his biological parents, bringing an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
As Xisheng entered the village, looking at the familiar scene before him, before he could even feel happy, he sensed something was amiss.
The village is usually bustling with activity, and it's only noon, a busy time. Why is it so quiet today?
An eeriness lingered in the silence. Xi Sheng's expression turned serious, and without caring whether Li Sisui was following behind, he hurriedly rushed inside.
They hadn't run far when they spotted a fist-sized, blood-red sphere suspended in mid-air, its black tinged with red and emitting a faint fishy odor.
Below the sphere lay more than a dozen corpses, their fates unknown.
"No!"
Xiu's shrill screams startled Li Sisui, who was lost in his satisfaction, and he rushed into the village.
But then they saw Xisheng kneeling before several corpses, sobbing uncontrollably. Above him floated a black and red sphere, which was extremely eerie.
"Human pill!"
Li Sisui looked at the floating sphere and exclaimed in surprise.
According to the Cloud Piercer's Manual, some demonic beasts would imprison the Tu tribe people, then extract their lifespan to condense human pills, which could be consumed to prolong life.
Li Si quickly scanned his surroundings and said coldly:
"This place is dangerous, leave immediately! There might be monsters nearby!"
Xi Sheng ignored him, burying his head in his sobs. His heaving shoulders clearly showed the immense grief that threatened to crush him.
Li Sisui said with slight anxiety:
"Hurry up! If we delay any longer, we'll both be in trouble!"
After saying that, he reached out to grab Xisheng, but unexpectedly Xisheng shook him off, his small body suddenly bursting with such strength.
Li Sisui was also taken aback, but he didn't want to stay put and wait to die.
Seeing that Xisheng still showed no sign of leaving, Li Sisui had no choice but to get up and run towards the village entrance, resigning himself to fate and wishing each other well.
A demonic beast capable of condensing and refining human pills is clearly beyond Li Sisui's current capabilities. If it were only a fully-formed demonic beast, he wouldn't even have time to escape.
As Li Sisui ran towards the village entrance, he glanced back at Xisheng out of the corner of his eye, hoping deep down that Xiu could also escape as soon as possible and not lose his life in vain.
Seeing that Xisheng showed no intention of leaving, she became extremely anxious but did not know what to do.
Seeing that there was still no progress in repairing the structure when they reached the village entrance, Li Si gritted his teeth, ultimately unable to let go.
Li Sisui couldn't bear to watch helplessly as the vibrant life she had shared day and night perished before her eyes.
With a push of his foot, he turned and launched himself towards Xisheng. In mid-air, a chain of light appeared in his right hand and shot towards Xisheng's waist.
Xisheng was still immersed in endless grief, looking at the once familiar faces that had become the crisscrossing corpses before him, feeling indignant but powerless to do anything about it.
Looking up at the blood-red sphere suspended in mid-air, which was still absorbing from the corpses at his feet, faint auras were constantly gathering towards the sphere.
Xi Sheng's face was contorted with rage as he stared viciously at the sphere hovering above the corpse, wishing he could devour it.
He got up and started climbing up, stepping on the corpses. Standing on the corpses, he reached out and grabbed the floating blood-red sphere, but when he pulled hard, the sphere didn't budge.
