Chapter Twenty-Three: The Scroll

"Fine! The rarity of the Longevity Pill is obvious to all. We'll grant your request this time, but remember, the quantity next year must satisfy us, or else..."

"Definitely! Definitely! Definitely next time!"

Changsheng Daoist's forehead was beaded with sweat, and his face was ashen, while Deacon Bai looked completely relaxed, seemingly quite satisfied with his exorbitant price. He then put on a kind expression and said:

"Alright, Fellow Daoist Changsheng, there's no need to blame yourself. It's hard for anyone to remain calm about such favoritism. Let's settle this matter here. On behalf of the Buer Academy, I accept your previous proposal. Also, don't say I didn't help you. Here are two wanted posters, sent down from above. Hehe, take a look!"

As he spoke, the White Deacon revealed a mysterious smile, took out two scrolls from his empty sleeves, and floated them toward the Immortal Daoist. The latter reached out and caught them, his expression one of surprise and uncertainty, and slowly unfurled them.

The first scroll depicts a stunningly beautiful female cultivator, her face veiled in red silk, her slender figure accentuated by three elegantly written characters beside her portrait: "Cold as Frost." The second scroll shows a male cultivator, only his general outline visible, his features obscured.

"Deacon Bai, is this the happy event you mentioned earlier?"

The Immortal Daoist hesitated slightly, and the White Deacon burst into another rough laugh, explaining:

"These two are wanted figures on the mountain. One is Leng Rushuang, a rising star of the Feihua Sect, and the other is suspected to be her guide, whose name is unknown!"

"If you capture either of them, you can directly join the inner sect of the Flying Flower Sect. Even if you provide any useful information about their whereabouts, you can be directly accepted into the outer sect, and there will be a large reward of spirit stones. Isn't that great news?"

Is this really true?

"Absolutely true!"

"Fellow Daoist Changsheng, haven't you been out and about for too long? The whole of Wulipo is in an uproar! These two scrolls are replicas; you can simply accept them. That's the main reason I've come here. As for the Longevity Pill, well, I'll mention it in passing. Hehe, farewell!"

With that, Deacon Bai turned and left, satisfied, leaving behind the Immortal Daoist, who gripped the scroll tightly, his gaze complex.
