A long howl startled even the previously composed village elder, causing him to look on in surprise. After his howl, the old toad leaped up and landed on a section of collapsed wall at the village entrance, its gaze fixed on the distance, its face contorted with madness. The village elder ceased paying attention to the old toad, letting it go, his eyes fixed on the distance through the village entrance, muttering to himself:
"Did he get it too?"
Li Si followed the village elder's gaze and saw that not far from the village entrance, smoke and dust suddenly billowed and the earth shook, as if some enormous creature was approaching.
As the tremors drew closer, a large hole suddenly appeared in the ground in front of the village entrance. Immediately afterward, a colossal creature, its body dark red and covered in black scales, crawled out of the hole. Its scarlet eyes looked down at the tiny humans before it. As the monster fully emerged from the hole, Li Sisui couldn't help but gasp.
"What on earth is that thing! It's about twenty meters long, with a waist as thick as a bucket, and it can swallow a person whole in one gulp. It must be a python that has become a spirit! My God, if this thing stood upright, wouldn't it be a tall building?!"
The monster approached the old toad and obediently placed its enormous head at the toad's feet. The old toad laughed loudly, jumped onto the top of the toad's head, and then the monster twisted its body, coiling like a snake, its eyes glowing red, and dripping puddles of slime from its mouth. Standing atop the monster's head, the old toad, full of pride, roared at the village elder:
"I'll make you watch helplessly as what you're protecting crumbles to pieces, hahaha!"
Looking at the arrogant old toad before him, the village elder had regained his composure and said with disdain:
"Is this the strength of the Nine Dragons Sect you wanted to show me? Do you think Hidden Dragon Village is something anyone can destroy at will?"
After saying this, the village elder didn't look at the old toad again, as if the person in front of him who was riding a monster and preparing to destroy the village and massacre the town was a clown.
"Village elder, are you planning to have that so-called predecessor, who has already turned to dust, appear and save you? Hahaha!" The old toad laughed arrogantly. "Earth dragon, advance! Destroy all obstacles in your path! Hahaha!"
As if guided by divine intervention, the earth dragon shook its head, stretched its body, and then twisted and charged toward the village, like a fully loaded train roaring in with astonishing power!
"Hey!"
A sharp shout halted the earth dragon's advance, and the old toad atop the dragon's head showed a shocked expression. The shout almost shattered the light wings that had formed on its back. Could it be that the deceased predecessor had truly manifested?
The hesitant old toad showed no intention of moving forward, standing suspiciously atop the earth dragon's head, looking around.
"Who is this extraordinary person hiding in hiding? Do you dare to come out and meet me?"
No sooner had he finished speaking than an old man with a pipe in his hand and a hunched back appeared before the old toad, grinning with a mouthful of yellow teeth, and said with a sly smile:
"Old Toad, the expert you're looking for is right here!"
"you?"
The old toad glared and said, then burst into laughter.
"Who am I? It's Old Liu, the handyman! Haha, since you're here, you might as well be buried with me!"
As it spoke, the earth dragon's enormous head stretched towards Old Liu, its scarlet eyes revealing a bloodthirsty excitement, as if the person before it wasn't a living person, but a delicious feast. Seeing the earth dragon about to swallow Old Liu whole, Li Sisui was certain that once the earth dragon bit into Old Liu's mouth, its massive jaws would snap shut, leaving not even bones behind in moments.
Before Li Sisui could think any further, an astonishing scene unfolded. The earth dragon's already closed mouth slowly opened again. The earth dragon let out a furious roar of resentment, but it still couldn't stop the fat duck it was about to devour from flying away. Old Liu, with a pipe in his mouth, used both hands to pry open the earth dragon's mouth. Then, in a flash of light, Old Liu reappeared in front of the old toad, smiling and saying...
"Is this how you treat an old friend when you meet them again?"
The old toad looked shocked and stammered:
"Who, who are you?!"
"Don't you know who I am?"
"Impossible! You were already crippled back then, how could you possibly have your current cultivation level? Absolutely impossible!"
The old toad's face contorted in rage as it roared:
"Earth Dragon, charge! Kill them!"
As he spoke, the old toad flapped its wings slightly and leaped onto the top of the earth dragon's head. Its five fingers clenched slightly, and a bright light shone from them, actually condensing into two daggers. The old toad's eyes turned bloodshot, and it fiercely hurled the daggers at Old Liu. The daggers made a sharp sound as they cut through the air, and in the blink of an eye, they reached Old Liu's chest. Old Liu didn't seem to move much, but instead took a step back, leaving two bottomless holes where he had been standing.
Before Old Liu could react, the earth dragon opened its gaping maw and charged at him, as if to vent all the humiliation it had suffered. Old Liu dodged the attacks of the toad and the earth dragon while saying:
"You've cultivated in the Nine Dragons Sect for so many years, yet you haven't learned the slightest restraint and remain so unruly. You're just an earthworm spirit that has sucked a few drops of earth dragon blood, yet you dare to call yourself a dragon!"
"Let's finish this quickly, Old Liu. Why bother talking to such a greedy and despicable person!" The village elder, who had been silent all along, spoke up. "The past friendships have long since vanished, so why should you hold onto them?"
"Fine."
Old Liu, who had been dodging the earth dragon's attacks, suddenly stopped.
"Out of consideration for our past relationship, although you deserve to die for insulting your seniors, I'll let you die knowing why!"
As he spoke, Old Liu's hunchback seemed to grow even more hunched. The sky darkened, and dark clouds gathered overhead, with faint rumbles of thunder. Suddenly, Old Liu's hunchback exploded, sending up a cloud of blood mist. A red shadow darted out and disappeared into the thunderclouds. Then, a dragon's roar resounded throughout the heavens and earth. The previously bloodthirsty earth dragon was now trembling on the ground, unable to rise no matter how much the old toad shouted. Above, thunderclouds rolled, lightning flashed, and thunder roared. A huge snake-like monster could be vaguely seen writhing.
