Chapter 173 The Bloodline of the Demon Ancestor

Although being saved by Li Sisui greatly displeased Yao Shiba, there was nothing else he could do; things had come to this point, and this was the only way.

"The Monster Forest today feels different from usual. Something seems off. If the three thousand flying serpents were just a coincidence, then what about this Undying Divine Ox?"

Yao Shiba, who had been arrogant and carefree before, looked solemn. Clearly, what was happening before his eyes was indeed unusual. After all, this was not his first time here. After leaving Broken Halberd City, he had been searching for the entrance to the Demon Cave while having a good meal.

The Demon Beast Forest might be fraught with danger for human cultivators, but for Yao Shiba, it was nothing. As a demon who once ruled a region, what could mere mindless demon beasts do to him?

But what's happening now is completely different from the monster forest he's experienced before; it's on a completely different level. What on earth happened? He just thought his luck had improved, but now it seems like he's just unlucky because of these two guys?

Thinking this, Yao Shiba couldn't help but stop and turn around to look at Li Sisui and Leng Rushuang. The two were startled by Yao Shiba's sudden stop and wondered what had gotten into him. Wasn't it said that the Undying Divine Ox was invincible and that they should run away with all their might? Why did he stop now?

"What are you doing? That cow will be chasing us soon!"

"You...and her, tsk tsk, something feels off. Let's get out of here first. There's no way out now, we can only cross the Monster Forest. I originally wanted to come here for a snack, but now it seems like we don't even know who'll fight whom. Sigh..."

Li Sisui and Leng Rushuang exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what Yao Shiba meant. Seeing the shifting expression on his face, they were at a loss for words. Since they had been driven all the way here, returning the way they came was impossible. It seemed their only option now was to traverse the Demon Beast Forest…

"Something's not right! Something's definitely wrong! It seems the relocation of Broken Halberd City isn't as simple as we thought!"

Yao Shiba's face was solemn, his nose twitching. An unusual smell filled the air, and this sudden odor made even the usually arrogant Yao Shiba cautious.

"It's too late! Wrap your red magic weapon around my waist, then tie the two of you up. If you don't fight now, you'll probably die here!"

Yao Shiba pointed at Leng Rushuang with a furrowed brow. The latter did not hesitate. Her red ribbon, like a snake emerging from its hole, wrapped around the three of them. Then, Yao Shiba roared to the sky. His voice was shrill and tragic, making people's scalps tingle. The feathers of his pair of heterochromatic wings fell off, revealing white bones!

"Holy crap! What are you doing?"

Li Sisui was terrified, wondering what kind of desperate technique Yao Shiba was using. He couldn't help but shout, but at this moment, Yao Shiba was already in a state of absolute pain. He couldn't hear any sound, and there was only one word in his head—pain!

Pain that cuts to the bone! Pain that tears your heart apart! Pain that is inhuman! Pain, pain, pain!

ah!

Yao Shiba slowly opened his scarlet eyes, looking like an evil god from another world. His huge bone wings covered most of his body. Without him making any moves, the three of them flew straight up as if they were walking on air, and they were going to pass through the sky above the monster forest. Weren't they afraid of being surrounded and attacked?

As the three ascended, the dense forest gradually disappeared, and their view opened up again. Looking down, even the usually carefree Li Sisui broke out in a cold sweat. He saw that from all directions, countless strange and grotesque monsters were surging towards the place where they had just been. Among them were not only the Undying Divine Ox that had cut off their retreat, but also other enormous monsters. Whether driven by someone or frightened by something, they were swarming towards the three of them!

Leng Rushuang was shocked and looked desperate as she said:

"Three-winged Golden Crow! Six-armed Annihilation Ape! Thousand-legged Soul-Severing Centipede! Hundred-eyed Grass Elephant! Is this... a grand gathering of ancient mythical beasts? How come all these legendary monsters, only mentioned in ancient texts, have appeared..."

The last words were almost desperate. None of the demonic beasts she mentioned could be dealt with by ordinary cultivators, let alone all of them appearing together and rushing towards them with a clear objective. It was obvious that they were coming for them. What else could they do but wait to die?

Li Sisui felt a pang of heartache upon hearing Leng Rushuang's desperate voice. It was the first time he had ever seen Leng Rushuang with such an expression. Although he did not know those strange names, he knew that for Leng Rushuang and Yao Shiba to act so strangely, they must be in dire straits. Could they have fallen into a desperate situation again?

Clang!

While the two were stunned, Yao Shiba soared into the sky. Originally, he was willing to expend the power of his body and bloodline to fly away from the Demon Beast Forest. However, he crashed into a golden light barrier when he had only risen halfway up the mountain. The three of them were so shocked that they saw stars. They hadn't even noticed the spatial barrier at such close range!

"Damn it! As expected, from the moment we stepped into the Demon Beast Forest, we fell into someone else's trap. I even sacrificed my cultivation to activate the Demon Ancestor's bloodline, but I still couldn't break through. This time, I'm afraid we're really doomed. City Lord Meiji, forgive my incompetence. The destiny of the demon race is ultimately not something I can bear..."

Li Sisui was shocked. Seeing Leng Rushuang's ashen face and Yao Shiba's similar appearance, coupled with his words just now, it felt like the three of them were doomed. Was there really no hope?

Impossible! Absolutely impossible! He's got the protagonist's halo, he can't possibly die. There must be another way. Think, think, think!
