Silence lingered between them. Geng Qi blinked. "What wife..."
Something suddenly flashed through his mind. His expression remained unchanged, but his eyes darkened slightly: "How did you know?"
"I heard it."
"You were following me?"
"No."
"..."
His answer was so straightforward that Geng Qi didn't know whether to be wary or not. He went to buy some food, so there was no need to follow him. Since it wasn't following him, it could only be eavesdropping.
Cultivators have hearing and eyesight far exceeding those of ordinary people. Someone like Rong Yu could easily eavesdrop on a conversation in a pastry shop in a noisy marketplace with just a little concentration. Yet this person was staring at the house across the street and still had the leisure to listen to what he and the pastry shop assistant were saying.
Reluctantly trying to take the item back, the man reached out his hand again.
Geng Qi: "..."
Rong Yu took a piece and put it in his mouth, taking a small bite.
He asked instinctively, "How is it?"
Rong Yu nodded, and then took another piece to try.
Poria cocos cake is not entirely made from poria cocos. The outer skin is made from poria cocos powder and flour, and it is as thin as paper and as white as snow. Inside, it is filled with various nuts, osmanthus, honey, and white sugar. It melts in your mouth and is refreshing and delicious.
Geng Qi had eaten this before, but his eyes lit up: "This Poria cocos cake is better than the ones sold in Gefeng Town."
Rong Yu didn't taste anything special. He took a bite of the poria cocos cake in his hand and didn't touch it again. Remembering what had just happened, he looked at him and hesitated before asking, "You... got married?"
Geng Qi asked, "What kind of marriage?"
"..."
Dating is troublesome enough. He would rather spend more time sleeping than getting married. You know, women are delicate and sensitive. They will turn on you over the smallest thing. He can't even take care of himself, let alone care about others!
After quickly finishing a pancake, Geng Qi clapped his hands and said, "Let's go."
Gu Zi stepped forward, about to take a step, but suddenly stopped and turned back to ask, "Shall we go?"
Rong Yu suddenly realized that he was almost out of the range of the spiritual energy shield. He responded softly and followed.
This place looks like the residence of an ordinary wealthy merchant, but people from Yandan Sect will come here first when they enter the county city, and their ordinariness will become extraordinary.
The mansion was large but quiet. Entering from the front yard, passing through the main hall and into the back courtyard, the vast courtyard, including the main house and the east and west wing rooms, was completely deserted. Apart from the pitter-patter of the rain, there was no other sound. After searching around inside and out, I found nothing.
This place turned out to be an empty house.
Even the coffins of Yang Tianhui and Yang Wei, who entered and did not leave, have disappeared without a trace.
"There's no back door here, where did they go?"
Geng Qi came out from the inner courtyard and met up with Rong Yu. He saw Rong Yu standing in the courtyard, facing the wall connecting the right wing and the main house, motionless, seemingly lost in thought, so he went over to him.
His gaze darted between the wall and the person, and Geng Qi asked, "What are you doing? Facing the wall?"
"..."
Rong Yu turned his head to look at him, then suddenly raised his hand, circulating his spiritual power. Several spiritual seals, shimmering with a pale golden halo, suddenly appeared on the previously empty wall. Each spiritual seal was connected by an invisible spiritual power to form a spiritual array, distorting the space in the middle and forming a small vortex.
"What's this?"
Rong Yu said, "Teleportation array."
Geng Qi suddenly realized why the place was deserted. He stepped forward to take a look and asked, "Where does this teleportation array lead?"
Rong Yu shook his head: "We can't see the destination from the entrance of the array, but the array here isn't very large, so it can't teleport us to very far places."
Perhaps to better conceal it, even the fluctuations of spiritual energy were very weak.
It is said that true hermits live in the city. Such a secluded place, if they hadn't been following them the whole time, they probably wouldn't have been able to find it even if they went up Pipi Mountain and tore down Yandan Gate.
After a moment's pause, Geng Qi stepped forward first, "Let's go in and take a look."
The person in front of them swayed and entered the vortex magic array. Rong Yu followed closely behind. After the two figures disappeared, the magic array next to the wall swayed twice in the courtyard, a faint golden light flashed, and then disappeared again.
The two who walked out of the formation found themselves in a completely different world.
The view was of jagged rocks, with weeds growing beneath them, making it look like an abandoned garden, neglected by everyone, with even the bluestone path on the ground covered by weeds.
“The grass is damaged to varying degrees, this road must be frequently used.” Geng Qi squatted down and picked up a blade of grass that had broken off at the root. People walking on the road wouldn’t create this effect; it must have been cut off by something wider than the bluestone road, such as a coffin used to transport corpses.
He looked up and met Rong Yu's gaze, then slowly stood up and said, "Do you know where this place is?"
Rong Yu said, "I've never been here before, but it looks somewhat familiar."
This place is rich in spiritual energy. Although it cannot compare to those major sects, it is still usable as a subordinate minor sect. It is surprising that such a place would be abandoned in the territory where Yan Dan Sect is located.
With a sigh, he followed the newly broken grass and walked forward. There was only one path here, which became wider and wider as he walked, while the weeds became less and less. The stones gradually took shape, and the two sides of the road faced each other, forming a strange symmetry. Ahead, a corner appeared, and Geng Qi suddenly stopped.
There are people ahead.
He lay down behind a round stone, watching several people pass by in front of him. They were dressed in pure white disciple robes and walked in an orderly manner in another direction. He subconsciously followed their backs and chased after them. Suddenly, he felt a warmth on his back, as if someone was pressing against him. He subconsciously turned around and saw that there was someone above him. He was holding onto the edge of the stone, and Rong Yu was holding onto him.
