This wasn't the first time Geng Qi had seen this person. He had only glanced at him briefly while observing the disciples of the Tianzhi Sect, but his attention was focused on the others, so he hadn't paid much attention to this person.
The person was right beside him, staring intently at him.
The man's eyes were clear and bright, like pearls from another world, but a strange light flashed in them very quickly, so quickly that it was hard to catch.
Geng Qi suddenly recalled the few lines describing the characters he remembered from the first three chapters of the original text: "A gentleman is modest and upright, like a jade tree orchid, with a smile like the bright moon in one's arms, gentle and warm like jade, and clear and humble."
The man's entire demeanor perfectly matched the person's, and he was momentarily stunned, stammering, "Hello."
"...Hmm." It sounded like a nasal tone, a little muffled.
Geng Qi: "..."
That's not humble at all!
There was no polite response, nor did they look away.
After staring at each other for a while, Geng Qi felt a little uncomfortable being stared at, so he lowered his eyes first and awkwardly touched his nose.
At that moment, a sharp shout came from the alleyway: "You... what have you done to our young master!"
It was the disciple who had fallen to the ground earlier. He sprang up like a carp, wanting to rush over to check on things, but hesitated to move because Qing Han was standing there.
The boy looked innocent and calmly explained, "He was already like this when I arrived."
Those people clearly didn't believe him and looked at him warily. When he stepped back, they quickly stepped forward, examined the corpse, and then turned back and shook their heads.
The Yan Dan Sect disciples at the alley entrance all changed color, and some immediately glared angrily at the boy who had stood to one side.
"Who exactly are you?!"
The sound of a longsword being drawn indicates that someone has already drawn their sword and is facing off.
Qinghan frowned slightly. "I didn't do it."
"There is only one entrance here. We didn't see anyone when we arrived. If it wasn't you, then surely my young master did it himself!"
Seeing their aggressive approach, and knowing that Qinghan couldn't argue back, Gengqi squatted down against the wall and said, "Why don't you ask what your young master is doing in this dead end?"
Suddenly a voice rang out, and everyone turned their heads at the sound. It seemed that they had just noticed that there was someone standing on the stone wall. In the instant they turned their heads, the one who had just been scolding Qing Han's pupils shrank, and his eyes turned red as he said, "You...it's you!"
Geng Qi raised an eyebrow; it was another familiar face.
The one who went upstairs to invite him downstairs for a chat in the Crescent Moon Pavilion was the oldest and had the highest cultivation among the disciples of the Yan Dan Sect, so he must have been a leader.
There were only a few people who went upstairs with Yang Wei at the time, and most of their attention was on him and Yang Wei kneeling on the ground. Few people noticed Qing Han standing behind him. It was normal that these people didn't recognize him because the alley was dark. However, his face was too recognizable. With his hair disheveled and standing in the moonlight, dressed in red, it was easy to recognize him.
The man's eyes turned red with rage. "You treacherous and cunning villain! My young master kindly invited you for tea, and you so cruelly took someone's life! You...you are simply..."
"Hey, you can't just say things like that. Which eye of yours saw me kill him? I just got here, and this young master can testify to that!"
If he wanted to kill someone, he would have done so back in the Crescent Moon Pavilion!
He squatted down and casually pointed upwards.
The man looked in the direction he was pointing, and his indignant expression froze again.
How come this person is with him?
He was stunned for only a moment, then suddenly turned around and respectfully bowed to the person standing on the stone wall.
Geng Qi turned to the side and looked up, surprised for a moment. Just as he was beginning to guess the man's identity, someone came to confirm it for him.
The town was only so big, and in the dead of night, even the slightest noise would be amplified several times over. The Tianzhi Sect disciples who were patrolling the town quickly arrived. Seeing the alleyway crowded with people, they bowed to the person on the stone wall at the entrance of the alley and said, "Grandmaster Uncle."
Rong Yu opened his lips and said, "Summon the soul."
"yes."
Immediately, someone responded. The person on the wall spoke, and the disciples of Yandan Sect did not dare to stop them. They all made way, and the narrow place looked much more spacious.
Two disciples of the Tianzhi Sect skillfully took out talismans, formed hand seals, and the talismans burned, turning into a golden ray of light that quickly formed a magic array, enveloping Young Master Yang's corpse.
Geng Qi glanced at him again. This person had deliberately concealed his aura. The people from Yan Dan Sect had not noticed his presence even after standing there for so long. The disciples from Tian Zhi Sect had just arrived and had seen him. It seemed that these two disciples had not come looking for him themselves, but had been summoned by this person.
When they looked down again, the light of the magic array formed by the talisman had dimmed considerably. Until the last bit of light disappeared, the alleyway was as silent as a tomb, and the faces of the Yan Dan Sect disciples, each with a different expression, returned to darkness.
The Tianzhi Sect disciple withdrew and stepped back: "His soul has been completely lost, just like those charred corpses found in the town."
The only difference is that this person wasn't burned to a crisp, or perhaps they didn't have time to be burned to a crisp!
Geng Qi narrowed his eyes. During the day, he heard people in front of that mansion say that the Gu Huo Ghost killed people and burned corpses. Although he was suspicious at the time, he was not sure. After all, there was more than one Gu Huo Ghost on the mainland. Even if it was not the one that came to the town before the New Year, it could be another one.
But now he was certain that the corpse was not some kind of ghost that killed someone and took their soul. He and Qinghan had been on the roof the whole time, so it was impossible for them not to notice any movement.
He suddenly jumped off the stone wall.
"what you do!"
Seeing him walk towards the corpse, the people of Yandan Sect were startled and tried to stop him.
"Qinghan".
As soon as he finished speaking, the boy standing to the side flashed and blocked several people. They were no match for him and subconsciously looked at the person on the stone wall. Seeing that he was unmoved and let the person squat down in front of the corpse, they could only shake their hands and retreat.
