Chapter 30 Hair Tie

In a killing formation, almost all the disciples of the Yan Dan Sect were sacrificed, except for Yan Zhihe and a few elders who survived. The Nine Heavens Killing Formation was intended to destroy everything, whether it was witnesses or evidence left in the sect.

However, the plan failed, and the once vast sect was left in ruins. With the intervention of the royal family and irrefutable evidence, everything quickly came to light.

In Ge Feng Town, murders were committed to steal souls, create human puppets, and even raise demonic beasts. All the crimes of the Yan Dan Sect were exposed to the public. The Lang Gu Sect, which should have been an ally, immediately distanced itself from the matter, claiming that the cooperation with the Yan Dan Sect was a decision made on its own initiative by an elder within the sect, and that the Lang Gu Sect had been completely unaware of the plan from beginning to end. The elder who participated in the plan was killed on the spot.

Yan Zhihe was captured and tied up in the training ground where the disciples of Yandan Sect practiced swordsmanship.

Rong Yu came out of Chengyun Pavilion and went straight to the training ground. He waved away all the guards, stepped onto the collapsed ground, and stood opposite the bound people.

A towering pillar, several meters high, is carved with reliefs. At the very top is a wild goose with outstretched wings, which is the symbol of Yan Dan Gate and the only intact round pillar on the training ground.

When the formation broke, Yan Zhihe was seriously injured and his spiritual veins were destroyed by the furious survivors. At this moment, he was bound to the Tongtian Pillar with spiritual locks, his head hanging down, his hair disheveled, and he looked extremely miserable.

A sect leader of his generation met such an end; the sect founded by his ancestors was destroyed in his hands.

Rong Yu watched him struggle to lift his head, his face devoid of any sympathy, his eyes filled with a chilling coldness. He took something out of his storage bracelet and held up a ball of light enveloped in spiritual energy in front of him.

Yan Zhihe looked up and suddenly grinned, revealing his bloodied lips: "You actually recognize this thing."

"..."

"I've forgotten, a hundred years ago, the young sect leader was also... also on Mount Kaopan, how could he not recognize this?"

He spoke with heavy breathing and a soft cough.

Rong Yu asked, "Where did you obtain this item?"

“I said it fell from the sky, and the young sect leader can believe me… um…”

The spirit chains binding him suddenly tightened, and Yan Zhihe let out a painful groan before laughing again: "I used it to set up the formation, and you used it to break it. Finding the formation's core so quickly is not your achievement. The young sect master of the dignified Tianzhi Sect actually... associates with people from the Demon Realm, hahaha... cough... cough cough!"

"..."

His hands were bound, preventing him from wiping away blood, which spilled from the corner of his mouth and dripped onto the ground.

Rong Yu remained indifferent and put the ball of light back into his storage bracelet.

Yan Zhihe took a breath and said, "The major sects have sent messages back to their sects. Presumably, some people should have arrived by now."

The moment the words left his mouth, a beam of light streaked across the sky. He arrived without needing to fly on a sword; his cultivation was no less than that of a Nascent Soul cultivator, and even surpassed that of a Divine Transformation cultivator.

Rong Yu's eyes darkened, and he turned to leave.

"Young Sect Master, you must carefully consider your choice."

Behind him was Yan Zhihe's gloating grin. Watching the person rapidly disappear into the distance, his emotions surged, causing him to cough up another mouthful of blood and faint.

Inside Chengyun Pavilion, Geng Qi was destined to be deprived of sunlight. It was past dusk when he finally woke up from his deep sleep. Outside the latticed window, the afterglow of the setting sun had just faded, and the sound of flowing water filled the room with a cool and serene atmosphere.

"woke up?"

A familiar voice, but I can only hear it, not see the person.

Geng Qi sat up and tilted his head to look. A smiling person appeared in human form, yawning, and said, "What, it's you?"

Jie Beiying smiled, her eyes crinkling: "Who does Your Excellency think it is?"

Geng Qi was taken aback.

Who did he think it was?

Lately, every time I wake up from my sleep, I see only one person.

He didn't want to admit that he thought it was Rong Yu, so he looked outside the door and asked, "Where's Qing Han?"

Jie Beiying said, "In the front courtyard."

"Isn't the front yard all collapsed? What are you going there for?"

As Geng Qi straightened his clothes, he rolled out of bed, put on his shoes, and headed outside. Xie Beiying's smile faded slightly, and he suddenly said, "Outside, a few important figures have arrived."

"An extraordinary person? Just how extraordinary?"

“Apart from Yiling Sect, all the major sects sent their direct relatives to attend.”

The Yiling Sect, Yandan Sect, and Langu Sect are collectively known as the Three Sects. Only the Yiling Sect did not come, which means that the people from one clan and the other two halls have come.

He spoke casually, but Geng Qi suddenly stopped in his tracks: "Such a big commotion? Here to divide the spoils?"

A sect that has accumulated treasures over hundreds or even thousands of years should have quite a few.

"..."

“They’ve come to seize the treasure,” Jie Beiying said. “When the ambush formation breaks, a sacred object will appear in the world, so they have no choice but to come.”

"A sacred object has appeared?" Geng Qi was startled, then thought for a moment and said, "You mean the core of the formation?"

The golden light was so dazzling that he couldn't see what it was, and he never saw it again.

Jie Beiying nodded: "Yan Zhihe insisted that the thing he used as the array's core was a fragment of a sacred artifact that had been shaken into the sect a hundred years ago. Back then, the founder of Yandan Sect was seriously injured on Kaopan Mountain. After returning to the sect, he discovered that fragments of the shattered sacred artifact had been left behind. Overjoyed, he tried to use the artifact to heal his injuries, but he was too weak to receive the healing and died from being burned by the flames. The fragments of the sacred artifact thus ended up in Yan Zhihe's hands."

Geng Qi frowned and asked, "Does the sacred object really exist?"

"It exists, but it has long been torn apart and its whereabouts are unknown."

"..."

He had heard Yuan Xin mention the so-called sacred artifact in Gefeng Town. At the time, he thought it was just an excuse for the major sects to invade the Demon Realm. But if the core of the array was really a fragment of a sacred artifact from a hundred years ago, one can imagine how much of a storm it would cause among the major sects.

Geng Qi remained silent for a long while: "Is the rumor that the sacred object can help people ascend to immortality also true?"
