Chapter 57 Unexpected

Geng Qi asked in confusion, "Why?"

Rong Yu said, "None of the disciples who went to the last three levels returned alive."

"How did they know that the secret realm had a ninth level?"

"..." Rong Yu turned his head slightly and looked at the other two people who were leaning against each other: "Before the former Demon Lord unified the Demon Realm, he had been to the Desolate Swamp Secret Realm."

"..."

It's the Demon Realm again.

The fragments of the sacred artifact at the entrance of the Righteous Path Sect originally belonged to the Demon Realm, but they were in the Desolate Swamp Secret Realm controlled by the Righteous Path. This secret realm, which strictly forbids people from the Demon Realm from entering, was breached by the former Demon Lord and reached the ninth level.

Is it a coincidence?

Geng Qi glanced at the only true demon being present and frowned slightly; the man was lost in thought again.

"Don't let him sleep. You might not be able to protect him if something happens later."

Jie Beiying snapped out of her daze, focused intently on examining the situation outside the flying boat, and calmly settled the boy in her arms before getting up and standing beside them.

Half an hour later, the boy who had been lying on the small table finally woke up.

Qinghan opened her eyes groggily and found herself still in the moving airship. Looking up, she saw three figures side by side, shrouded in shadow.

His eyes were blank, as if he hadn't yet come to his senses.

"Awake?" Geng Qi strode towards him. "Are you alright? Is anything bothering you?"

Qinghan stared for a while before he could make out who was speaking to him. He murmured, "Young Master, I...I just..."

"You fell into a 'maze' and slept for a while."

"A 'maze'?" Qinghan was stunned. "I think I just had a dream..."

Geng Qi asked, "What dream?"

"I..." Qinghan frowned, lowered her eyes as if she was seriously recalling something, and after saying only one word, her face was already red to the roots of her ears.

Geng Qi was speechless and reached out to help him up: "Alright, I know you had an indescribable dream. If you can't tell, then don't."

Anyway, it wasn't a dream at all.

Qinghan replied, "It...it can be described."

"...Then describe it."

Qinghan frowned again. He remembered it clearly, but he didn't know where to begin. It was as if it were something he had experienced, but he had no memory of it before.

The person in my dream seemed to be him, yet it also seemed not to be him.

The indistinct emotion in that "Qingyi" was being called to someone other than him.

Seeing that he was starting to lose his composure again, Geng Qi sighed and said, "Let's deal with the immediate trouble first."

Qinghan then noticed that the flying boat he was piloting was almost touching the ground as it moved forward. Outside the barrier, a fierce wind was blowing, and the fog was thick. The barrier already had cracks and was about to shatter.

"Protecting the entire flying boat consumes too much spiritual energy, let's go down first."

The airship contracted, and the four people landed one after another. Visibility was extremely low in the mist. Just as Geng Qi was about to speak, his hand was grasped by someone. The warmth from the person was familiar, so he leaned closer and said, "No wonder it never gets dark on the upper levels. It turns out they're all down here!"

Since he woke up, the sky on the seventh floor has remained unchanged, staying in the dim light between dusk and dawn.

"This is the true secret realm of the desolate swamp."

The sudden voice didn't come from beside him, so Geng Qi turned around abruptly: "Who?"

"..."

A splash of green catches the eye; you know who it is without even seeing their face.

Under the howling wind and black soil, seeing Ji Rong's appearance, Geng Qi actually felt a sense of familiarity, like seeing a sapling in the desert... very rare!

What are you doing here?

Ji Rong: "..."

Rong Yu said, "I've been following behind."

"Follow behind..."

Geng Qi looked up and saw that not only the people from Yi Ling Sect were behind him, but also the outstanding figures from the other major sects. Han Zhao and Qiu Qingxue were walking out of their flying magic artifacts together.

He suddenly remembered that when they came down from the sixth floor, he had fallen asleep. When he woke up, all four of them were in the flying boat. He had not used his divine sense to look for anyone. Now, when he tried again, his divine sense was like a stone sinking into the sea, and he could not detect anything.

No wonder he didn't realize there were other people following behind the airship!

"Weren't we separated when we came down?"

Rong Yu nodded in response.

Geng Qi frowned slightly and looked at Ji Rong, saying, "What do you mean by saying this is the real Desolate Swamp Secret Realm?"

Ji Rong said, "The Desolate Swamp Secret Realm is a remnant from ancient times. It has existed on the continent for tens of thousands of years and has long since developed sentience. The six levels above the secret realm are merely derived from it, while the three levels we are currently on are its true form."

"..."

Geng Qi pondered for a moment: "How do you know?"

Ji Rong simply looked at him without answering his question, and instead said, "The magic arrays connecting each pair of the first six levels are actually spatial turbulence. People who pass through the spatial turbulence will be separated and teleported to different locations. However, from the sixth level down, there will be no more connecting magic arrays, because the last three levels are full of spatial turbulence."

"..."

A person behind him asked, "What about the storm outside the barrier now?"

The system then provided Geng Qi with the precise answer in his mind, following his words.

Upon hearing this, the others couldn't help but gasp. According to the ancient records of the sect, they could reunite by following the recorded route after being separated. However, if they were separated by the turbulent currents on the seventh floor, their divine senses would not be able to dissipate, and they would have no way to call for help. No one would even know if they were alive!

Geng Qi gripped Rong Yu's hand tightly. With the system at his disposal, finding people wouldn't be difficult, but he couldn't guarantee that the others wouldn't be in danger while they were being swept away by the turbulent currents!
