Chapter 9 Testing

Rong Yu neither agreed nor refuted.

He was stunned by those eyes, his mind seemed to go blank for a moment, and his chest inexplicably began to burn, a burning heat that seemed to want to incinerate everything. The words he was about to say were thrown to the back of his mind.

Just then, the door to the woodshed creaked open behind him, and as soon as he stepped out, Yuan Xin called out, "Grandmaster Uncle."

As if startled, Rong Yu turned around first, remaining silent and waiting for her to continue.

Yuan Xin looked up and happened to see Geng Qi "spying" at his grandmaster, only to have his gaze quickly averted after being caught. He cursed the scoundrel inwardly, then shook out a piece of brocade and handed it to Rong Yu, saying, "The murderer's memories have been tampered with, and are fragmented, so nothing can be found. I have drawn a map of the route he took before arriving in Gefeng Town. Take a look."

Geng Qi immediately moved closer, not caring that he was being rejected, and quickly glanced at it before exclaiming, "Impressive!"

There was a reason why he brought his senior sister Yuan Xin along on his training trip. Not only did she handle everything perfectly, but her skill in peeking into other people's memories and recording them was also top-notch.

Yuan Xin gave a light hum, accepting his praise as a matter of course.

Rong Yu examined it carefully, and after a moment, he neatly folded the brocade and handed it back to Yuan Xin. When he turned his head to look at someone, the person was squinting and giving a rather subtle yawn.

So the question that came out of my mouth was: "Go to sleep."

Yuan Xin was putting away the brocade when she thought the words were directed at her, and asked somewhat anxiously, "Is it Junior Sister Su..."

"We'll set off early tomorrow morning."

Calm and composed words always carry an unquestionable authority. Yuan Xin cupped his hands and said, "Yes."

Before closing the door to his room, Geng Qi glanced at the door next door. On one side was Qing Han, who was probably asleep since the candle had gone out. On the other side, Rong Yu was still standing outside the door, watching him as if afraid that he would run away.

Geng Qi nodded politely and closed the door.

As soon as I lay down on the bed, looking at the canopy above, and thinking about the man's previous silence, I couldn't help but sigh in my heart, "It seems that this male lead's leg is not so easy to cling to!"

He couldn't figure out where he had slipped up. Why was Rong Yu staring at him like that? Did they know each other before? Or was there some kind of grudge between them?

Even if there was a conflict, it's not his fault!

It's tough to survive in another world, but it's even tougher to be a villain in another world!

I thought to myself that, then I got sleepy and fell asleep.

The next day, before dawn, Geng Qi was dragged out of bed. He sat in the courtyard, looking very unhappy, and yelled, "I'm not going! You go find people, what am I supposed to do there!"

With the expected dark circles under her eyes, she leaned against the stone bench and howled with her eyes closed.

He didn't feel anything last night because he hadn't slept at all, but once he fell asleep, he was dragged out of bed before he was fully awake, which was absolutely agonizing!

Yuan Xin said irritably, "Didn't you say you wanted to find out the truth and clear your brother's name? Now that I've dragged you into this, you're getting angry?"

Seemingly choked for a moment, Geng Qi opened his eyes a crack and said, "Then you guys go ahead, I'll sleep for a while and then catch up."

"you……"

This was the first time Yuan Xin had ever seen someone so lazy yet still haggling over a price. He was at a loss for words and wondered what his grandmaster was thinking, insisting on bringing this person along.

Suddenly, someone stepped out from behind Yuan Xin. "Senior Sister Yuan, how about... I carry him on my back?"

“He’s so beautiful…” Yuan Xin had just started to rebuke him when she hesitated, wanting to reject the idea.

Geng Qi heard it too, opened his eyes and looked at it, then flatly refused: "I don't want him to carry me."

Before anyone could complain, he muttered to himself, "I'm not injured, why am I putting on this plaster..."

Finally, someone in the crowd couldn't help but laugh out loud. The disciple who had offered to carry him earlier blushed deeply. His name was Gao Yao, the one who went to the teahouse to find Rong Yu that day. His fellow disciples often teased him about his name, so when Geng Qi said this, everyone understood what he meant.

If someone is carrying you on their back, you'll definitely have to stick something on it, like a plaster from Gaoyao!

The person who was laughing immediately fell silent after being glared at by Yuan Xin. She then looked at Qing Han; these two were brothers, so carrying him on her back shouldn't be a problem.

Before she could finish speaking, hurried footsteps came from the other side of the arched gate. A disciple ran in, glanced at the person still lying on the ground, and said to Yuan Xin, "Senior Sister Yuan, the carriage outside the mansion is ready."

Yuan Xin frowned: "Who told you to prepare the carriage?"

"Yes...it is my grandmaster uncle."

"..."
