Chapter 202 Departure, Mount Fuji (Part Two)

"Disappeared without a trace..."

With a single glance, Ichimokuren saw a dilapidated shrine deep within a forest, a place shrouded in darkness and devoid of any light.

Inside that dark shrine, two bright red eyes suddenly appeared.

"A Tsuchigumo?"

Ichimokuren asked, frowning.

Earth spiders live in dark places.

"no."

Tamamo Mae denied.

As time passed, the chilly atmosphere spread under the trees, and Qiu Shui felt a chill and woke up without realizing it.

She opened her eyes, still a little dazed, and saw that the shikigami had all stood up and were looking up at a mountain. She asked, puzzled:

What are you doing?

The snow woman turned her head, floated to her side, and exuded a chilling aura.

What happened to them?

Qiu Shui pointed ahead and asked.

"We sensed a demonic aura," the Snow Woman said coldly.

"Demon energy?"

Qiu Shui was taken aback. "I never expected that there would be monsters in such a remote place. But since you're noticing the demonic aura, are you perhaps planning to exorcise a demon?"

The snow woman shook her head. "No."

Yingcao stood up, her little face scrunched up, and ran to their side, saying in a fright, "Father, we feel very uneasy!"

Why are you uneasy?

Seeing everyone looking on high alert, Qiu Shui stood up and asked.

It's really rare for this to happen to them.

No one answered, but the way they all frowned was really unsightly.

"We've rested enough, let's go."

Qiu Shui didn't take it to heart. She put away her fan and prepared to head towards the grove of trees not far away.

"Father, there's a monster there!" the fox spirit warned him.

"So what if there are monsters? Aren't I surrounded by monsters right now?" Qiu Shui asked helplessly.

Who isn't a monster around her now?

"The opponent seems very strong."

"The hair-eating demon said seriously."

A black line appeared above Qiu Shui's head.

The three great yokai in Japanese legends—the demon king Shuten-dōji, the nine-tailed fox Tamamo-no-Mae, and the evil god Ōtengu—were all by her side. Why should she be afraid?

She coughed a few times and said helplessly:

"You are a hundred demon kings who rule over all demons in Mount Tanba, a great demon who has cultivated for a thousand years, and two great tengu who protect the region from Tarobo in Mount Atago. How come none of you have the courage of an onmyoji?"

Ōtengu, Shuten-dōji, Ibaraki-dōji, and Tamamo-no-Mae exchanged glances, each with their own turbulent thoughts.

That's not what they're actually worried about.

The hair-eating demon walked to her side and said solemnly, "We are indeed very powerful, but Father, you are only human. You can die from something as simple as this. Humans are too fragile!"

The hair-eating demon was still worried about her.

“But I have you all, how could I die so easily?” Qiu Shui said with a smile.

Unfurling her fan, she stepped past the crowd and walked ahead, saying, "Shall we go take a look? Perhaps there's an unexpected surprise."

The Great Tengu coughed a few times, "No, it's better not to. Everything should be done in the best interests of the master."

Everyone walked around Qiu Shui without prior arrangement, secretly surrounding her in the center.

Qiu Shui sighed helplessly and rubbed his forehead.

"If there really are monsters, are you doing this because you're afraid they won't see me?"

That's too conspicuous; it's obviously a target.

Hearing her words, everyone dispersed a little, but all their attention was still on her, fearing that something might happen to her and that she might be unknowingly lured away by the great demon.

"By the way, didn't Qiu Shui's father sign up for a tour?" Shan Tu hopped over to Qiu Shui, blinking her two bright red eyes.

"We have too many people, and the other side doesn't have enough cars," Qiu Shui said helplessly.

If they had a car, why would they need to travel over mountains and valleys? Even though they weren't actually walking on the ground, her brain would still get tired.

"How far is it from here to Mount Fuji?" Ibaraki-dōji asked.

"If things go well, it'll take two or three days; if we're unlucky, it might take four or five days." Qiu Shui looked even more helpless at this point.

The journey is long and arduous, but I will persevere and explore.

They traversed mountains and valleys, crossed slimy, corpse-strewn swamps, passed through misty forests crawling with poisonous spiders, and crossed the Sanzu River where the red spider lilies bloomed...

They arrived in a small town.

Qiu Shui: Why is the map here different from the one she's seen before?

Standing before the gloomy town, the crowd felt a chill run down their spines as they watched the wronged souls constantly rising from the town and saw several ghostly figures appearing and disappearing.

“Father, isn’t this the road to Mount Fuji, but the road to a hellish dungeon?” they asked.

Qiu Shui: "..."

She hadn't expected this at all.

After clearing her throat a few times, she said, "The route is correct. There's a sand dune outside; we're just going around it from here."

"Father, are you sure?"

"Yoto Hime asked suspiciously."

There are definitely monsters here.

"Let's go, we might reach Mount Fuji if we just pass through this town."

Qiu Shui spoke.

The group exchanged glances and slowly walked inside.

The town looked terrifying on the surface, but inside it was just simple houses. As they walked, they looked around, and a cloud of fog gradually drifted in from the dark road.

At first, there was only a thin layer of smoke around us, but it gradually became thicker and thicker until we couldn't see our own hands in front of our faces!

Faced with the sudden increase in the intensity of the smoke, the Hair-Eating Demon stopped warily: "There's something wrong with this smoke! Everyone be careful!"

"Let's go outside and take another route," Ichimokuren suggested.

"Father, what do you think?" The hair-eating ghost couldn't make the decision, so he turned around and asked.
