Newly arrived
Yunti grumbled as she walked along. It wasn't noticeable just outside the capital, but the closer she got to the border, the stronger it became. She kept on marching, but still couldn't catch up with the main army. Before she even entered Shuocheng, refugees were already swarming outside. Yunti sighed, her resolve growing even stronger.
Now, the people of Shuocheng who can be dismissed have been dismissed, and the city is full of soldiers guarding the border. Yunti's father did not know about this trip, and her identity was no longer useful. It was still a problem for her to enter the military camp. She walked to the gate of the county government office and saw the conscription notice and decided to go and give it a try.
The examiner was silent for a moment after seeing the ladder. It was a little short, but it met the standards. He asked, "Are you volunteering?"
Yunti bowed and replied, "That's right."
The examiner then asked, "Why did you join the army?"
Yunti said: "When the country is in crisis, the children of Ningchang must contribute their strength."
The examiner nodded, quite approvingly, "Do you have any elderly or children at home to take care of?"
Yunti thought about it and said to his mother, "Not really." Mother... should have no shortage of people to take care of her in the capital.
"Good, good!" The examiner patted Yunti on the shoulder and said, "You are very good. You can join the army immediately after you pack up!"
Yunti was an ordinary soldier mixed with a group of young men. Although she was not used to it, she could tolerate it. They had undergone a lot of training during the truce in the past few days and had the basic qualities to go to the battlefield. Yunti had been practicing martial arts since childhood, so these were naturally easy for her.
Most of their soldiers have low spiritual power or no spiritual power, and can only serve as logistics or substitute soldiers to take care of the wounded. Yunti stands out among them. In addition to taking care of the wounded, she has to practice for several more hours every day just to be qualified to stand by her father's side.
Of course, Yunti is not the only outstanding person. There are several other soldiers who are not inferior to her. Among them, the one who impressed her the most is the man who looks simple but powerful.
One day, a fighting competition was held in the camp. Ordinary soldiers could participate, and Yunti also participated. It was during this competition that she met the person who would make her feel guilty for the rest of her life.
The ring was crudely constructed, white powder sprinkled on the ground. A few ropes formed a square along the lines of the marks, each corner secured with wooden stakes. Three meters from the ring stood layer upon layer of people, most of them self-aware soldiers. They knew their martial arts skills were limited, their spiritual energy low, and so they simply joined in the fun as spectators.
The competition was small, only about thirty people, so it went swiftly. Yunti fought his way through the ranks effortlessly, leaving only eight remaining to fight. Yunti surveyed the remaining seven. These were all young men, new to the camp, and they were overjoyed to have made it to the quarterfinals. Their faces were beaming with pride.
He, however, held a unique composure, as if these were all commonplace, nothing worth getting excited about. Someone like him...perhaps he was used to winning. Yunti suddenly took an interest in him.
The eight people came forward to draw lots to match their opponents for the next round. The lot drawn by Yunti was shorter, while the lot drawn by the person she was paying attention to was longer. It seemed that the two of them had no chance of winning this round. Only if both of them could win would they have the opportunity to ask each other for advice.
Yunti's opponent in this round was tall and strong, two heads taller than her. She could feel his strong muscles even through his clothes. This punch would probably make a hole in the ground.
"The game begins!"
With a command, Yunti felt the pressure coming towards her. The opponent rushed towards her with fists. Yunti was ready to defend herself and meet the attack, but she did not expect that the opponent was so strong that one punch directly broke her defense. Yunti retreated more than ten steps before she could stabilize her body.
Suddenly, the other party laughed twice and said, "Haha, how can you take my punch with your small body? If you don't want to get hurt, just admit defeat quickly!"
Yunti sneered and said, "Underestimating the enemy and advancing rashly is a big taboo in military strategy."
"Then let me see how capable you are!" said the man opposite.
There were two figures among the soldiers watching. One of them said, "This kid is skinny and weak. I don't think he can be a match for that big, rough guy."
The other person standing next to him said, "Didn't you hear him say that underestimating your opponent is a big taboo? Just wait and see. I'm optimistic about this young man."
The previous exchange was a test of the opponent's strength. Yunti knew that he could not defeat him in a head-on fight, so he had to use tricks... Although the opponent was extremely strong, it was also his weakness. His movements were very large, and his speed could not keep up due to the pull of inertia. In terms of reaction speed, he was not as good as Yunti.
Compete with wisdom instead of strength, and overcome hardness with softness...
The two men prepared for their second exchange. This time, Yunti didn't take the opponent's punches head-on, but instead used various subtle techniques to neutralize his force. Before the opponent's punches could reach him, Yunti immediately followed the man's direction of the punches, exchanging a few blows. Then, he used his elbow to block the man's arm, preventing him from punching. The two men remained in this stalemate. Suddenly, the man swung Yunti into the air, ready to throw him. Yunti seized the opportunity, using the momentum to flip behind him and, with subtle force, threw the man in front of him.
The opponent suddenly fell flat on his face. The man angrily stood up and rushed at Yunti. His punches were like wind, whirring, and each punch was more powerful than the last, hitting the vital points! Yunti ran around the ring, dodging and avoiding the opponent's attacks head-on, which made the man furious.
The man doubled over with exhaustion. He gasped and said, "Hiding here and there is nothing to be proud of! Take my punch head on if you have the guts."
Yunti smiled and said, "Haha, you can talk to me first."
"Hmph!" The man gathered all his strength and started chasing again.
After a stick of incense had passed, the opponent's offensive gradually weakened. Although Yunti kept dodging, he could not keep up with the opponent's physical strength declining as fast as he could.
It's time to fight back...
The speed of the man's punches slowed down obviously. Yunti turned around and pulled his fist from the side and made a half circle, just in time to lock his throat with his arm. Then she raised her leg and swept the man to trip him. The man had no time to react and stumbled to the ground.
It wasn't over yet! The man had just stood up when his center of gravity lost its balance. Yunti seized the opportunity, pressed her toes against the ground, and leaped into the air. She kicked back and forth on the wooden stake tied to the rope, using the momentum to deliver a side kick in the air, forcing the man back step by step. The man couldn't react, so Yunti took advantage of the situation and concentrated all her strength on her hand to punch him!
The opponent was already retreating continuously, and before he could steady himself he was hit by another powerful punch, and finally rolled off the ring due to inertia.
Yunti raised his lips and clasped his fists, saying, "Thank you."
"Wow! That's amazing." The onlookers screamed continuously, all marveling at this wonderful duel.
The figure in the crowd said, "What do you think? I said this little brother would win."
Another person laughed awkwardly and said, "Brother Lu, you have a very accurate eye for people. It's just me who is incompetent."
