Chapter 66 Why was he expelled?

Song Mu's question wasn't excessive, but Mei Yan's subsequent silence made him frown slightly. "Whether or not you'll stay in our tribe in the future, I think you should explain clearly why you left your original tribe."

If he was expelled from the tribe, then his existence would be a danger to the tribe.

"If you don't tell me, I'll have no choice but to send you out of the tribe. I'll find you a suitable cave outside the valley and provide you with some food and animal skins. Once you've recovered from your injuries, leave here immediately and don't linger around our tribe. You know we have something that can deal with you, the Feathered Orcs."

Song Mu obviously had no patience for Mei Yan. As he spoke, he was going to the cave to pack up his things and send Mei Yan away. Song Mu would never let a potentially dangerous person live next to their house.

"Wait a minute." Mei Yan seemed to have made up his mind and he stood up from his seat.

Song Mu looked at him.

Mei Yan first breathed a sigh of relief: "It's not what you think."

He looked out at the endless expanse of white snow and said carefully, "You know, we, the Feather Tribe, don't have any females. Most of our males leave their tribe upon reaching adulthood to find their own females."

"Don't even think about lying to me. Most of you Feather Tribe live in the mountains and forests to the south. Even if you do travel, you wouldn't choose to come to us during the winter."

Most of the Feather Clan are not cold-resistant. The mountains and forests in the south are warmer, with almost no snow in the cold season. In contrast, the summer season is hotter.

Song Mu saw that Mei Yan seemed to be afraid of the cold and did not look like the kind of feathered person who could withstand the cold.

"I haven't finished..." Mei Yan looked at Song Mu, somewhat helplessly. "Because we don't stay with our tribe like you do, it's actually quite lonely. After I became an adult, I traveled to several tribes. Later, I passed by a rabbit tribe. They weren't many in number, but they occupied a hilltop, giving them plenty of space to move around. That's why I settled there for a while."

Mei Yan couldn't help but feel a little angry as he spoke. He clenched his fists and said, "But in the cold season, a stray orc from the Scorpion Tribe came and wanted to occupy the territory of the Rabbit Tribe. You know, stray orcs are always weak in the cold season! Even if the Rabbit Tribe orc is weak, it's not completely impossible to fight him. What's more, I will help them."

After hearing his words, Song Mu also stood up: "But they surrendered to that wandering orc. Not only surrendered, but also chose to contribute a female to the wandering orc in order to allow the tribe to continue living there. Is that right?"

"How did you know?" Mei Yan looked at Song Mu in disbelief.

Song Mu didn't answer him.

Mei Yan continued, "I've never heard of such a tribe. They actually dream of relying on stray orcs to survive, and even sacrifice their own females! I've argued with the tribe leader many times. As long as the entire tribe unites, that stray orc is no match for us, but I couldn't convince him. Even the entire tribe thinks this is the best decision."

"What's the clan leader's name?"

"Ji Nan." Mei Yan replied.

When Song Mu heard the name, he knew that Mei Yan was not lying.

"I have no chance of winning against the Scorpion Orcs alone. Without their help, I can't save the tribe on my own. But I will never live with wandering orcs. Even in the cold season, I still left. Didn't you just shoot me down when I passed by your tribe?"

Mei Yan finished speaking and ran to the pile of firewood and squatted down. "Anyway, this is it. I hope you believe me. I'm not lying. I hope you can at least let me spend this cold season in your tribe. If you think I'm dangerous, I can promise to stay in this cave and never come out again."

His tone now was a little humble, without the previous arrogance.

In such cold weather, leaving him outside alone to fend for himself, Mei Yan felt that he might die in this cold season.

He regretted why he chose to travel north.

Song Mu already believed most of it, after all, the information Mei Yan said was correct.

"You stay here for a while." Song Mu didn't know how to evaluate Lin Qiu's people. Although each tribe had a different way of survival, sacrificing females was a matter of life and death. If it weren't for the fact that tribes couldn't fight each other, he thought that any tribe that knew about this would want to snatch the females from their tribe.

Hearing Song Mu's words, Mei Yan breathed a sigh of relief: "I will try my best not to cause you any trouble. Besides, we of the Feather Tribe have always been trustworthy. I will definitely not break my promise to capture feather beasts for you."

"I hope so. If you're really cold, just go back. We'll be waiting for your feathers."

After listening to Mei Yan's self-narration, Song Mu's originally calm heart was filled with mixed emotions again.

Mei Yan was as if he had been pardoned: "I don't even know your names yet."

"My name is Song Mu."

"Where's your brother?"

"Ling Yun."

"My name is Mei Yan, thank you for taking me in."

"I shot you, and I will see to it that you recover. When you are able to go out and move around, you can exchange birds and animals for food in the tribe."

The tribe still stores some collective animal meat to provide for underage females and males who are unable to hunt.

After Song Mu finished speaking, he took his bow and arrow and left the cave.

As soon as he entered the house, a layer of water droplets condensed on his eyelashes because of the warmth in the house.

He heard the voices of Ling Yun and Lin Qiu in the room. He opened the curtain, stood at the door, and looked at the two bodies entangled together.

Lin Qiu was held by Ling Yun and seemed to have not noticed him coming in.

Her black hair was loose, covering half of her face, and her ears, which were exposed between her hair, were red.

Ling Yun glanced at Song Mu and moved violently, which earned him a moan from Lin Qiu.

"Xiao Qiu."

Song Mu grabbed Lin Qiu's chin with one hand from behind. His hand was slightly cold, which made Lin Qiu shiver.

The voice of Song Mu behind her made Lin Qiu feel like she woke up from a dream and fell into another dream. She felt tense and empty, and the air seemed to be pressing towards her from all directions. Lin Qiu felt her whole skin numb.

Especially the fingers, they were jumping as if there was an electric current flowing through them.

"Is Xiaoqiu being partial?"

Song Mu's voice was calm, but Lin Qiu could sense danger in it.

"No, Song Mu..." Lin Qiu's hand stroked his big palm that was resting on his chin, as if to comfort him.

Ling Yun, who was beneath her, dug his fingers into her other hand. "Xiao Qiu, who is inside you? Why are you calling someone else's male name?"

Lin Qiu was so embarrassed that she closed her eyes tightly and dared not open them, so she could not see the eye contact between Song Mu and Ling Yun.

"Xiao Qiu, if you are not partial, can you take me with you?" Song Mu also held Lin Qiu's face with his other hand.

"good......"
