Chapter 291 Shouldn't you compensate me in advance?

Chapter 291 Shouldn't you compensate me in advance?

Why are you coming now?

Jiang Zhi was led to Lu Yuan's guard post. As soon as she sat down, Lu Yuan dismissed his attendants and entered.

Wearing black boots and a belt that cinched her waist, she appeared tall and imposing, exuding a commanding presence. She was also holding a cloth in her hand, wiping her hands, indicating that she had just washed them.

"Missed me?" Lu Yuan pulled her to sit down on his official chair, a smile unconsciously appearing on his lips.

Jiang Zhi wrinkled her nose. "I came to see if Lord Lu is slacking off while on duty."

"Stubborn." Lu Yuan wanted to get close to her, but he had just come out of the imperial prison and still smelled of blood. He was afraid of upsetting her, so he had to give up the idea.

"I'm sorry, I've been too busy to find time to see you these days. After I finish the Ministry of Works case, I'll take you horseback riding in the outskirts of Beijing."

He pushed the pastries on the table toward her, saying, "Try them. I had them brought from Shuyulou."

The Northern Garrison Command had never prepared these things before, but ever since Lu Yuan brought Jiang Zhi back from the mountain last time, he had instructed his men to buy some snacks every day so that Jiang Zhi could use them whenever she came over.

Jiang Zhi also found it strange and couldn't help but pick up a piece of hibiscus cake and put it in her mouth. "Who would believe that I can sit in an official's chair in the Northern Garrison and eat pastries from Shuyulou?"

Lu Yuan couldn't help but pinch her smug face. "With me here, you can turn the entire Northern Garrison Command upside down and no one will dare to utter a sound."

“Really? I took it seriously,” Jiang Zhi raised an eyebrow. “I’ll definitely have to try it next time.”

“Alright,” Lu Yuan wiped the crumbs from her lips and asked, “So, what brings you here today?”

He knew her temperament well; she would never think of contacting him unless she needed something.

Jiang Zhi nodded. "I do have something to tell you."

She took the tea Lu Yuan offered to moisten her throat, and then told Lu Yuan about what happened at the Crown Princess's birthday banquet that day.

We must inform Lu Yuan about this beforehand, otherwise he will definitely cause a huge uproar.

"What are your specific plans, and what do you need me to do?" Lu Yuan asked her.

"It's not necessary for now. I'm just worried you might get angry later, so I'm telling you in advance."

Lu Yuan stared at her with his deep eyes, "What are you going to do that will make me angry?"

“Singing opera,” Jiang Zhi took a deep breath, somewhat afraid to look him in the eye, “No matter what the Crown Prince does to me, it’s all just to confuse the issue. You can just pretend you didn’t see it.”

"Does Shen Ci'an know about this?" Lu Yuan asked.

"Um."

"He agreed?"

Jiang Zhi nodded.

"Let me guess, is the Crown Prince planning to use you to lure Xiao Yunheng out?" Lu Yuan's voice was cold.

“It’s not about exploitation, it’s about cooperation.” Jiang Zhi couldn’t help but sigh.

Why do you all think, like Shen Ci'an, that she was used by Xiao Xuanyou?

This is clearly a win-win situation.

Lu Yuan frowned. "No, I don't agree."

"Let me stand by and watch the Crown Prince covet you and make a move against you? I can't do that. I'm not as generous as Shen Ci'an."

Jiang Zhi knew that Lu Yuan was extremely stingy and wouldn't be as gentle and easy to talk to as the teacher.

“But you also know that Xiao Yunheng is still up to no good and wants to use me to harm the Crown Prince. We can’t just sit here and wait for him to make a move before we fight back.”

Jiang Zhi reassured him, "I promise I will be very careful and try my best not to get hurt."

"That won't do either," Lu Yuan said, his teeth itching with hatred, his eyes bloodshot. "You might as well just kill me with a knife."

He had gone through so much trouble to pick the flower, but now he was being forced to give it away.

How could he possibly accept this?

Jiang Zhi frowned. "I could have kept this from you, since it doesn't concern you much, but I didn't want you to overthink it, and I didn't want to see you suffer."

“My mind is made up, and I will not change my mind. If you disagree, then just pretend I was never here today and never said these words.”

Lu Yuan stared at her blankly, his chest heaving.

He suddenly gave a bitter laugh.

Yes, he has no official status or position, so what right does he have to oppose this?

Even her proper husband, Shen Ci'an, agreed.

Seeing his pale face, Jiang Zhi stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, softening her tone, "Lu Yuan, I just want to end this as soon as possible. After divorcing my master, I will leave the capital."

"What did you say?" Lu Yuan's eyes widened in shock. "You want to divorce Shen Ci'an?"

"Yes, the Master has promised me that he will give me a divorce agreement before I leave the capital." Jiang Zhi nodded.

At this moment, Lu Yuan felt his heart was in turmoil, and he didn't know whether to feel sad or happy.

If Jiang Zhi and Shen Ci'an were to divorce, wouldn't he have a legitimate reason to be with her?

Then he can drive away all those people who are an eyesore, take her to a place where no one can find her, and live out the rest of his life with her in peace.

Thinking of this, he crossed his arms, his face still expressionless. "I can turn a blind eye to what the Crown Prince has done, but shouldn't you make amends to me in advance?"

"How will you compensate me?" Jiang Zhi was relieved when she saw that he had agreed.

Kiss me.

Jiang Zhi thought this request couldn't be simpler.

She beckoned to Lu Yuan to lean down.

Lu Yuan, however, stood with his arms crossed, watching her leisurely without moving.

This is to encourage her to take the initiative.

Jiang Zhi raised her lips and got up to hook her arms around his neck.

But Lu Yuan was tall and had long legs. His superior posture exuded a sense of control. He straightened his back and didn't even bend his waist in the slightest, showing no intention of cooperating whatsoever.

Jiang Zhi stood on tiptoe, her nose barely brushing against his chin.

“Lu Yuan,” she frowned and glared at him, “I can’t reach him.”

Lu Yuan remained unmoved. "Find a way yourself."

Jiang Zhi couldn't help but grind her teeth, a mischievous glint flashing in her eyes.

Then she extended her wet, soft tongue and gently licked his Adam's apple.

Lu Yuan's already dark eyes were now surging with emotion.

But he had always been incredibly self-controlled, and now that Jiang Zhi had finally taken the initiative, he was unwilling to break his composure, remaining as indifferent as a statue without joy or sorrow.

There's still no response?

Jiang Zhi couldn't help but be surprised.

People who usually don't need to be provoked to come to you are now like meditating monks, without the slightest ripple.

Jiang Zhi tried her best for a long time, but she was so tired that she was panting and soon gave up.

"never mind."

She completely lost her temper, shoved him hard, and turned to leave.

Suddenly, her body felt light as Lu Yuan's large hand encircled her waist, lifted her up, and placed her on the desk.

"You couldn't even last this long, it seems you have no sincerity at all." His pupils, deep and ambiguous beneath his high brow bone, seemed to have stripped her bare with his gaze.

"You're the one who's not being sincere," she said, avoiding his gaze, and just snorted through her nose. "So what if you're tall?"

After saying that, she kicked him.

Lu Yuan chuckled and took a step back. "I'll give you one more chance."

At this moment, Jiang Zhi was sitting on the table, already at his height, and could kiss him if she just looked up.

But she didn't want to do what Lu Yuan wanted. She glanced at him sideways, and then, as his pupils contracted, she threw herself into his arms.

Lu Yuan subconsciously reached out and hugged her. Along with the fragrant scent, he heard her soft laughter, "Now that Lord Lu has hugged me, you can't let go, okay?"
