Chapter 121 Tianjin Small Court 2

Chapter 121 Tianjin Small Court 2

The carriage had already been prepared, carrying Empress Zhou, Concubine Yuan, and the others to the camp outside the city. Because it was dark, their progress was slow. This was even with Zhao Xiaofei installing a flashlight on the carriage; otherwise, it would have been even slower, and they would have had to grope their way forward in the dark.

After walking for two hours, they finally saw a fire ahead. Wang Yi said, "Your Majesty! We're here!"

The camp ahead was filled with green military tents, which Zhao Xiaofei had bought from Modern Times. Among the numerous small tents, two large tents stood in the middle. They were clearly there for them. As they approached the camp, a patrol spotted them. Soon, a small group of soldiers, led by Wanshan, approached to intercept them.

Wan Shan saw Zhao Xiaofei and said with a smile, "Did you drive here from the highway?"

"Don't mention it! That grandson surnamed Liang wanted to steal our car and let us walk to Tianjin. How is that possible!" said Zhao Xiaofei.

"I guess he wants to surrender to Li Zicheng and use you as a stepping stone!" Wanshan said.

"Okay! The queen and the imperial concubine are still in the car, let's arrange them first!" said Zhao Xiaofei.

"What does the queen look like? Is she beautiful? Or is she very serious?" Wanshan was very curious about the queen's appearance.

"There are plenty of opportunities to meet them. Take them in first! I'll go see the princess!" said Zhao Xiaofei.

"You! You can't live without women!" Wanshan said with a smile.

Zhao Xiaofei asked Wanshan to take the queen and the others into the tent, while he went to the princess's tent. As soon as he entered, he saw Jixiang Ruyi kneeling, and Princess Kunxing Zhu Mianzhu was tied up and crying.

Seeing someone coming in, the three of them turned around to look. Princess Kunxing opened her eyes wide, full of joy. Zhao Xiaofei shouted to Jixiang Ruyi, "Why are you tying the princess up? Untie her quickly!"

Jixiang Ruyi hurried over to untie the princess's ropes, but Zhao Xiaofei thought they were too slow and cut the ropes with a knife. Freed from her bonds, Princess Kunxing cried and hugged Zhao Xiaofei, then began to sob.

Seeing this, Jixiang Ruyi blushed and ran out quickly. Princess Kunxing Zhu Mianzhu cried and said, "How could you leave me alone? You even drugged me! You said we would be together forever! Woo woo~"

"Aren't I afraid that you are in danger? How can I bear to let my little princess get hurt!" Zhao Xiaofei stroked Kunxing's back and comforted her.

"But I'm so afraid of losing you! Afraid of hearing some bad news from them! Do you know that I'm afraid? Woo woo~" Kunxing continued crying.

"Okay! Stop crying! You won't be beautiful if you cry! My Princess Kunxing is so beautiful, she can't turn into a little cat!" said Zhao Xiaofei.

"Husband! I'm not a child anymore!" Princess Kunxing said with a pout.

"Okay! You are an adult! How many adults cry? Wait until I'm in the coffin before you cry!" Zhao Xiaofei said heartlessly.

"What nonsense!" Kunxing was unhappy again. Zhao Xiaofei knew that at this time, he had to coax her and tease her to divert the princess's attention.

"That's enough! I won't tease you anymore! I rescued Queen Zhou and Concubine Yuan, as well as Zhaoren!" Zhao Xiaofei said

"Really? What about my father?" Princess Kunxing asked excitedly. She seemed to see hope.

Zhao Xiaofei lowered his head, sighed, and said, "I am an incompetent husband! Your father died for his country!"

Princess Kunxing's smile faded immediately after hearing this. She sat on the chair, feeling empty inside. Her mind was filled with memories of every little thing her father had done for her.

At this moment, the tent was suddenly opened, and the two palace maids who had come with Zhao Xiaofei carried Zhao Ren in. Princess Kunxing obviously knew the two palace maids, and she called out, "Chunmei, Xiaotao! Are you here too?"

Two palace maids placed Zhaoren on the bed and replied, "We are here with the Empress and the Prince Consort!"

"How is Zhaoren?" Kunxing asked Zhao Xiaofei.

"Your father was afraid that she would fall into the hands of thieves, so he injured her! She needs more rest now. When she wakes up, give her some more blood-replenishing food!" said Zhao Xiaofei.

When Kunxing saw his sister Zhaoren like this, he immediately left Zhao Xiaofei aside and went to serve his sister.

Zhao Xiaofei asked the palace maid named Xiaotao, "Have the Queen and Concubine Yuan gone to bed?"

"In reply to the Marquis, the Empress and Concubine Yuan have already gone to bed. They are very tired!" said the palace maid Xiaotao.

"Okay! I got it! You two should go down and rest!" Zhao Xiaofei said. The two maids bowed and took their leave. Zhao Xiaofei turned to Kunxing and said, "Let's rest early too! We still have to pay our respects to the Queen and the Imperial Concubine tomorrow!"

"Okay!" Kunxing said, and covered his sister with the quilt. Then he and Zhao Xiaofei slept in their clothes. Zhao Xiaofei was really tired from all the work today. He fell asleep quickly!

Princess Kunxing was so excited that she couldn't sleep. She kept her eyes open and looked at her sister. She hoped that her sister would wake up soon. Just as she was lost in thought, she heard Zhaoren whisper, "Father, don't kill me!"

After a while, Zhaoren shouted again: "Brother-in-law! Brother-in-law! Don't leave me! I'm scared!"

Kunxing stood up and walked to her sister's side, only to find her huddled up in a ball. Tears welled up in the corners of her eyes, so she took out a handkerchief and wiped away her tears.

The next day, Zhao Xiaofei was exhausted and slept until almost noon. When she walked outside the Queen's tent, the palace maid Chunmei stopped her and saluted, saying, "The Queen and the Imperial Concubine have just woken up. Please stay, Your Majesty!"

Zhao Xiaofei finally felt relieved. It turned out he wasn't the only one who woke up late. Everyone was the same! Wan Shan and General Zhou also arrived! General Zhou had been watching Zhu Cijiong the entire night and hadn't let him see Empress Zhou. He was afraid of disturbing Empress Zhou and Concubine Yuan's rest. If they met, it would be another tearful scene. So he hadn't let Prince Ding see Empress Zhou!
