Chapter 17 Epidemic and Emotion
Zhao Xiaofei sat in the main hall, drinking tea and asked Xiao Si, "How's the Yanyu Tower going? When will the move be completed?"
"Mother Hong said that we can move there this afternoon, and Miss Li will be picked up this afternoon!" After Xiao Si said this, he looked at his young master, fearing that he would be unhappy!
"Got it! Let's go and take a look after lunch." Zhao Xiaofei said.
"Yes, young master!" Xiao Si said and went to make arrangements.

The maid, Xiaohong, seemed completely powerless, trembling all over. Her lips were blue as she struggled to open her mouth and said, "Master! Master, Master, please save my young lady!"
Zhao Xiaofei approached and noticed that Xiaohong not only looked pale, but also had blue lips and several red bumps on her neck. It looked like she, too, had the plague. Didn't we remember there was an epidemic around the capital this year? How come it's happening in the city too?
"You have the plague! Has your young lady got it too?" Zhao Xiaofei asked.
"Yes, you... go and save her quickly. She fainted in front of the Wei Mansion. Wei Zaode heard from the sedan chair bearer that the young lady was sick and had red spots on her neck! Madam Wei didn't even let her in, saying that she was a jinx. Young Master, you... you go and save her quickly." Xiaohong fainted after she said that.
"Xiao Si!" Zhao Xiaofei shouted.
"Young Master! What's wrong?" Xiao Si stumbled in.
"Go back and get the medicine from my room, then come with me to Wei's house. Let Xiaohong lie here first!" said Zhao Xiaofei.
"Yes!" Xiao Si hurried out, got on the carriage and disappeared in the heavy rain.
Zhao Xiaofei picked up Xiaohong and placed her on the bed on the second floor. He lifted her sleeves and found that the bumps on her body were about to fester, and it was basically time to give up treatment.
At this time, Xiaohong woke up again. Seeing that Zhao Xiaofei had not left, she hurriedly said, "Master! Why don't you go and save my young lady? Go quickly! If you don't go now, it will be too late!"

Zhao Xiaofei couldn't believe how Xiaohong, the maid, had managed to walk this far. Zhao Xiaofei covered Xiaohong with a blanket, then he and Xiao Si boarded a carriage and headed for the Wei Mansion. The sky grew darker, the rain heavier, and the fog thickened, obscuring the path. The master and servant arrived at the gate of the Wei Mansion and wandered around until they finally spotted a sedan chair in a corner. The two sedan bearers crouched under the eaves, sighing deeply.
Zhao Xiaofei stepped forward and asked, "Where is the young lady you just carried?"
"Young Master! She has shingles. Don't go, you will get infected. We will leave when the rain stops!" said a sedan bearer.
Zhao Xiaofei asked loudly: "Tell me where she is?"
Another sedan bearer stood up and pointed to a nearby canal, saying, "The Wei Mansion's housekeeper told us to put it there! He wouldn't even let us in, and he didn't even pay us!"
Zhao Xiaofei quickly ran to the canal, which was a sewage drain. The rain had already caused the water to rise very high. Miss Li Sisi was wearing a red dress, and her makeup was smudged, like a ghost. Most of her body was submerged in the water. Zhao Xiaofei didn't care whether it was dirty or not, and went down to pick her up. Xiao Si wanted to take her, but Zhao Xiaofei said to him, "Don't worry about me! Hurry up and lift the curtain and put her in the car."
Xiao Si quickly lifted the curtain, and Zhao Xiaofei carried Li Sisi into the carriage and was about to leave. One of the two sedan bearers said, "Sir! She has eczema. You'll get it if you do this."
Zhao Xiaofei said to Xiao Si, "Give them two taels of silver, and let's go!"
Xiao Si pulled some silver from his pocket and tossed it to the two sedan bearers. Then the three of them rode away in a carriage. The two sedan bearers were overjoyed, thinking they'd gotten a great deal. Little did they know, it was actually the price they'd paid for their lives. Upon returning home, the two bearers felt a fever all over their bodies, and the next day, they developed rashes and died.
Zhao Xiaofei and his companions returned to Misty Rain Tower and placed Li Sisi and Xiao Hong together. They also gave Li Sisi an injection. Then they told Xiao Si to go back and gather everyone in the mansion, except for their family, to stay home. Everyone else should come to Misty Rain Tower after the rain stopped. Zhao Xiaofei was going to give them injections.
