Chapter 7 The World of Mold 5
Lin Xia tried to talk to them, but no matter what she said, they would only reply, "Please go back."
Looking around and finding no door, Lin Xia walked along the iron fence toward the road.
When she found the main group, there were already many people negotiating with the people outside in front of the iron fence, but it was clear that the people outside were adamant and refused to let her through.
"Everyone, please don't be impulsive. We've all seen the disaster in H City and are deeply concerned. People all over the country are trying to help us. We haven't yet developed a drug to kill this mold. If we let you out and it spreads throughout the country, then all hope will be lost. I hope you understand and support us." A man holding a megaphone spoke in a calm voice.
"But this thing can be blown away by the wind, how could it be stopped by this iron net! You're just wasting your time!"
"Could you disinfect it for us...?"
"There's a monster! There's a monster! Didn't you hear? That monster eats people! So many people have been bitten and died!"
"My elderly relative needs treatment! He needs medication! This is murder!"
......
Everyone was talking at once, but the person on the other side stopped speaking after saying that and just stared at them in silence.
Someone excitedly rammed into the wire mesh, only to be electrocuted and fall to the ground. People were shocked, never expecting to be treated this way.
Lin Xia felt uneasy. She stood a little further away, checking the situation while taking out her phone to see if there were any messages online.
As soon as I opened my phone, I saw someone say, "I heard that some countries in the world have requested the use of thermobaric weapons against H city."
What are thermobaric weapons?
"Thermobaric weapons combine the effects of high temperature and high pressure, releasing a large amount of heat energy and generating a huge pressure wave upon explosion, which has a great destructive effect on underground bunkers and deep bunkers. Thermobaric bombs can explode at temperatures of up to 2,500°C and generate shock wave pressures exceeding 1,000 kPa, causing severe damage within a one-kilometer radius of the explosion center. Most importantly, they do not produce nuclear radiation."
"Oh my god, what about the people in H City?"
"You know what, this might actually kill those molds. I heard that those molds can only be killed at temperatures above 1000 degrees Celsius."
"Then the people of H City have to move out?"
"Are you kidding me? If they come out, won't they bring the mold with them? You think you can disinfect them at 1000 degrees Celsius?"
“There are millions of people inside, our family will never agree to that.”
"If we cannot develop an effective drug to inhibit or kill it, I'm afraid we will have no choice but to agree, as this is a matter of great importance concerning the fate of mankind."
"You guys are so inhumane! You don't care about your own families in there, do you? But my parents are still inside!"
“My younger brother also goes to university there, so please stop making sarcastic remarks.”
The post was quickly deleted, but Lin Xia felt a chill run down her spine. If it really happened, wouldn't everyone die here?
Her heart pounded, screaming for her to leave. Lin Xia looked at the soldiers outside, feeling utterly helpless. How was she supposed to get out...?
Leaving is impossible; monsters are right behind us. If they catch up, we can use their guns to run back, but that would just be sending ourselves to their deaths.
Obviously, everyone thought the same way. Except for those who needed medical attention, everyone scattered, fearing that the mold monster would come back and wipe them all out.
Lin Xia kept her distance from others when suddenly she saw a notification:
[Backup successful: 1 Basic Protection Shield Card backed up, 100 Survival Points required.]
[Basic Protection Shield Card: 360° surround protection for your safety, lasting 5 minutes.]
This card increased her experience points by 8%. Lin Xia abandoned her plan to rest and started walking along the iron fence. Now, the players' items must be hidden on their bodies or in their backpacks. Relying on her eyes might not be enough. She needed to get closer to sense them.
After walking around, she spotted a team of players. She immediately moved closer and actually managed to back up some good stuff. Seeing their wary looks, Lin Xia quietly walked away.
[Backup successful: 1 Fire Element Card backed up, requires 100 Survival Points.]
[Fire Element Card: Can unleash fire-based abilities. Energy: 100.]
[Backup successful: Backup attribute ring *1, requires 200 survival points.]
[Attribute Ring: +2 Spirit Power]
Backup successful: 1 backup cleaning card required, 1000 survival points needed.
Cleaning Card: A skill card that makes you clean in a second. Can be used once every four hours.
[Backup successful: 1 Water Element Card backed up, requires 100 Survival Points.]
[Water Element Card: Can unleash water-based abilities. Energy: 100.]
Having gained nothing, Lin Xia found a quiet spot to sit and rest. After running all that way, she was quite tired.
She looked at her panel.
[Real Name: Lin Xia (Not Available)]
Name: Sanqi
[Spirit: 10]
[Constitution: 13]
[Strength: 3]
Speed: 7
[Possesses the talent: SSS-level "What you see is what you get"]
[Talent [What You See Is What You Get]: Anything you 'see' can be copied (but not living beings). To retrieve a copy, you need Survival Points. Survival Points are obtained as follows: 1 minute of survival in the game = 1 point, 60 minutes in real-world time = 1 point.]
[Possesses superpower: psychic ability]
[Personal Space: 3 cubic meters]
Survival Points: 172
[Experience Points: 98%]
Lin Xia glanced at her talent, which was almost upgraded, just 2% short, feeling frustrated. She then looked away and looked at the items she could interact with.
Lin Xia wasn't sure if his fire-based ability could kill the mold. With only 172 survival points, he didn't make any rash moves. That protective shield was quite useful; it would be even better if it could block bullets.
The cleaning card is a skill that can be used continuously. Lin Xia really wants it and covets it, but she can't afford it.
After thinking for a moment, Lin Xia moved closer to the person who had the fire element card. H City was definitely going to be abandoned, and it was basically impossible for her to escape on her own. But someone with an element card must know its power, so she might be able to benefit from it.
Moreover, their location is close to the mountains, so they can run up the mountain if anything happens.
Looking at the short, fluffy fibers on her gloves, Lin Xia felt disgusted. How was she supposed to eat like this? She thought about it and decided to check the internet instead. Before she could even take out her phone, she heard someone exclaim, "No internet! What happened to the internet?!"
Lin Xia stopped taking out her phone. At this moment, it wasn't just one person waving their phone around, but everyone holding a phone.
The internet outage means they have lost their channel to receive information from the outside world, but they don't know whether the lines were corroded or the network was deliberately cut off.
While Lin Xia was deep in thought, a large group of people surged towards them. The player team discussed something briefly and then ran up the mountain. Lin Xia looked at the approaching crowd and immediately followed them up the mountain.
Once inside the mountains, Lin Xia didn't wander around. She quickly changed into a new mask, wore two layers, and then tried to find a tree to climb.
But she clearly overestimated herself; she couldn't climb trees at all! Looking at the approaching crowd, Lin Xia had a sudden realization: even if she couldn't, she had to climb!
These people have such thick, long moldy hairs on their bodies... What's going on? Is it raining mold?
