(Please give a 5-star review and encourage me to continue reading. This is very important for a new author. Please avoid letting your book wait to grow if possible. I update at least 6,000 words a day, and 10,000 words when I'm in good form!)

In a refugee village ten miles outside Xianyang, Lu Li was dressed in coarse linen clothes, his short hair seemed out of place in this era, and his eyes were somewhat vacant, as if he had just broken up with his lover.

He just couldn't understand how a highly educated intellectual like himself could encounter something as absurd as time travel.

Most importantly! He has no identity in this dynasty, no parents, no system, and absolutely no cheat code!

I learned from the refugees that this place was actually within the territory of the Qin state!

The current King of Qin is named Ying Zhu!

Although the name was somewhat unfamiliar, Lu Li knew that this person was an emperor of all time!

Qin Shi Huang's grandfather!

After ascending the throne of Qin and observing a year of mourning, he suddenly fell ill and died just three days after his coronation. He was only fifty-four years old! He had only been King of Qin for three days. There was nothing he could do; his predecessor had lived to a very old age.

"Brother Lu, I'm so hungry!"

A young girl of about sixteen or seventeen walked out from behind him. Her face was dirty, her hair was disheveled, her lips were dry, and she looked at him with longing in her eyes.

Her name was Xiao Lu'er. Lu Li met her when he first transmigrated here. Her parents had recently died. Feeling sorry for her, Lu Li took pity on her and moved into her home to take care of her.

Hearing the little deer say it was hungry, Lu Li felt a pang of bitterness. After all, he didn't understand this era, and his daily food consisted of rabbits he hunted and fished after a hard day's work.

"Sweetie, I'm going out hunting now."

Lu Li patted the little deer's head, then picked up the repeating crossbow he had developed.

Arriving in this unfamiliar era, I found myself completely unsuitable for the bows and arrows of this time; they were not only weak but also inaccurate.

Based on his memories from his previous life, he improved upon the crossbow from the Warring States period and created a repeating crossbow that was lightweight, fast, and powerful.

With the help of this repeating crossbow, Lu Li always had a great harvest every time he went hunting.

"Brother Lu, let me go with you!"

The little deer looked at him with longing in her eyes. Lu Li knew that this little girl had just lost her parents and was feeling the most insecure right now.

"good."

A red sun slowly rose, bathing the entire mountain in a golden glow.

The clouds in the sky are layered upon layered, like a fairyland.

The little deer followed behind Lu Li, heading deeper into the mountains and forests.

The path was winding and twisting, with towering ancient trees growing on both sides, blocking out the sun and giving one a chill. After walking for about half an incense stick's time, a valley suddenly appeared ahead, its entrance overgrown with wild grass that almost completely covered the valley.

"Brother Lu, look over there!" Little Deer whispered to Lu Li, pointing to the distance.

Lu Li glanced over and saw several rabbits grazing there.

The next moment, Lu Li carefully pulled back the crossbow and fired an arrow at the rabbit with a "bang." The rabbit was instantly knocked to the ground, struggled a few times, and then lost its strength.

But Lu Li's arrow also completely startled the other rabbits, who began to scatter and flee. However, Lu Li did not stop, but continued to shoot two more arrows, knocking down two more rabbits.

"Haha! Brother Lu is so amazing!"

Just then, an old man riding a donkey backwards and a young man not far away saw this scene and couldn't help but click their tongues in amazement.

"A crossbow? How can it fire in rapid succession?" The old man clicked his tongue, then a glint of light flashed in his eyes.

Such an exquisite weapon instantly piqued the old man's curiosity.

"Master, I'm afraid even the Mohists couldn't make this crossbow, could they?" the young man asked from the side.

The old man stroked his beard and nodded, saying, "Even if Mozi were to make it, I'm afraid he couldn't have created such an exquisite crossbow."

The crossbow was capable of firing in rapid succession, and when it shot down the rabbit earlier, the old man discovered that the crossbow was extremely powerful; it could easily penetrate cloth armor.

Most importantly, it possesses immense power and can fire in rapid succession. If deployed on the battlefield, it would be a devastating weapon, driving the seven kingdoms mad with desire!

A few hours later, Lu Li carried two rabbits to the foot of the mountain, set up a fire, and began to roast the rabbit meat.

Just then, the old man riding a donkey backwards and the man slowly walked towards them.

Upon getting closer, Lu Li realized that the old man was squinting, seemingly asleep, and was letting the donkey walk on its own.

The old man closed his eyes and sniffed, seemingly smelling the aroma of roasted rabbit meat.

He smacked his lips and slowly opened his eyes.

"It smells so good!"

The old man's eyes lit up when he saw the rabbit meat that Lu Li had roasted.

"Young man, is it cooked yet? Let this old man have a taste?"

Lu Li quickly replied, "No, it's baking right now, please wait a moment?"

The old man nodded, then jumped off the donkey's back.

Lu Li exclaimed inwardly, "Good heavens!" The old man looked quite old; not only was his hair completely white, but his beard was too. He had actually jumped off the donkey's back! Lu Li was afraid he would fall and hurt himself.

In this desolate wilderness, such a strange old man had appeared.

Judging from his attire, although his clothes were coarse linen, they were very clean.

The old man squinted, staring intently at the rabbit meat Lu Li was roasting, swallowing his saliva every now and then, clearly drooling with envy.

A short while later, Lu Li finished roasting the rabbit meat. The old man plopped down on the ground, reached out, and prepared to grab the rabbit leg.
