"Order the entire army to be on high alert and ready to fight at any time!" Fa Zheng commanded.
A moment later.
"Boom boom..." The war drums sounded, the bugles blew, and the Jingzhou army adopted a defensive posture.
"Hmph! A mere 30,000 men dare to attack? Do they really think Jingzhou is without men?" Huang Zhong cursed.
"General Huang, don't be impatient. Let's wait and see if Zhou Yu is really capable," Fa Zheng advised.
Soon, Zhou Yu led 30,000 cavalry to the battlefield, where the two sides faced each other from a distance!
"Are you Zhou Yu?" Huang Zhong stepped forward and called out.
"Huang Hansheng, I have long admired your name!" Zhou Yu said, bowing.
Huang Zhong was once the most famous general in Jingzhou, and his reputation spread far and wide. Even Zhou Yu had heard of him.
"How dare you invade my Jingzhou?" Huang Zhong shouted.
"Naturally, it is to punish the rebels!" Zhou Yu shouted sternly.
"Arrogant little thief, stop trying to outwit me with your words! Come here, I'll teach you how to behave today!" Huang Zhong roared, pointing his sword directly at Zhou Yu.
"Old soldier, how dare you bark and howl? Retreat at once!" Zhou Yu said calmly.
"You're courting death!" Huang Zhong roared, raising his sword and charging towards Zhou Yu.
"Who dares to fight Huang Zhong?" Zhou Yu shouted.
Immediately, a general charged out from behind Zhou Yu, shouting, "I am Taishi Ci of Donglai! Old man Huang Zhong, take this!"
The two sides clashed instantly. Huang Zhong's swordsmanship was fierce, but Taishi Ci's halberd skills were sharp, and the two fought to a standstill.
"This young general is incredibly strong!" Huang Zhong's expression changed drastically.
Taishi Ci frowned inwardly. Huang Zhong's swordsmanship was sharp and ruthless. He was indeed worthy of being the number one warrior in Jingzhou!
"Kill!" Taishi Ci roared, his halberd swirling like a dragon soaring, exuding a chilling killing intent.
Huang Zhong quickly blocked Taishi Ci's fatal blow, then roared and flashed his blade, forcing Taishi Ci to retreat several steps.
"Amazing!" Taishi Ci's pupils shrank sharply.
Having gained the upper hand in one move, Huang Zhong immediately swung his sword horizontally, attempting to send Taishi Ci flying.
Taishi Ci quickly dodged, not daring to get entangled with Huang Zhong.
The two fought for nearly fifty rounds, and were still evenly matched!
However, Taishi Ci discovered that Huang Zhong seemed to be holding back.
"Not bad, you're a promising young man, but you're still a bit lacking in experience. Take this!" Huang Zhong suddenly shouted.
His swordsmanship suddenly erupted, becoming even more ferocious than before, like a violent storm, wave after wave, dense as rain.
Taishi Ci could only keep resisting.
"Clang!" A violent impact caused Taishi Ci's tiger's mouth to throb with pain, and he almost lost his grip on the halberd. He was terrified.
"Bang!"
Another fierce slash struck, and Taishi Ci's legs went weak, almost causing him to kneel on the ground, but fortunately he managed to regain his balance in time.
He then deflected Huang Zhong's longsword, immediately mounted his horse, and created distance.
Huang Zhong spurred his horse to give chase, but at that moment, Taishi Ci suddenly drew his bow and shot an arrow at Huang Zhong.
Upon seeing this, Huang Zhong immediately stopped the pursuit, drew his own saber, and slashed out, shattering Taishi Ci's arrow!
"Hmph, daring to play with arrows in front of me?"
After saying that, Huang Zhong also drew his bow and nocked an arrow, pulling the longbow to its full extent. A strong killing intent filled the air, making the surrounding temperature seem to drop considerably.
"call out!"
Huang Zhong released his grip, and the long arrow in his hand flew off the bowstring like a shooting star, streaking across the sky and heading straight for Taishi Ci.
Taishi Ci quickly dodged, but the arrow grazed his cheek, leaving a bloody mark on his face.
Before he could even catch his breath, Huang Zhong's second arrow had already arrived!
Taishi Ci was startled and dared not be careless. He quickly swung his halberd to block the arrow, which whistled past his ear and embedded itself in the ground. The arrow tail trembled and made a buzzing sound.
Immediately afterwards, the third, fourth, and fifth arrows were shot in succession.
Taishi Ci was sweating profusely; he had truly experienced what it meant to have a near-death experience!
Huang Zhong fired seven arrows in succession, each one more powerful than the last. When the last arrow was fired, Taishi Ci was already struggling to breathe. The arrow pierced Taishi Ci's armor, the arrowhead protruding through his back.
"Cough cough... Pfft!" Taishi Ci coughed up a mouthful of blood with difficulty, looking dejected.
Upon seeing this scene, Zhou Yu's pupils constricted!
"What a formidable Huang Zhong! He truly deserves to be called the number one warrior in Jingzhou!" Zhou Yu murmured to himself.
"Quickly, rescue General Taishi, then we'll retreat!" Zhou Yu shouted.
Subsequently, the Jiangdong soldiers quickly carried Taishi Ci back.
"Commander, I am incompetent! Please punish me!" Taishi Ci knelt before Zhou Yu in shame.
"It's alright, let's retreat first!"
At this moment, Taishi Ci was covered in blood and had many injuries, but none of them were fatal!
The truly fatal blow was the arrow shot by Huang Zhong. Fortunately, it didn't hit his heart, but rather his shoulder socket. However, the arrowhead had already pierced through his back. How much force must have been needed to shoot such a terrifying arrow?
Zhou Yu led his troops to retreat hundreds of miles, while Huang Zhong led his army to continue the pursuit.
Subsequently, Zhou Yu led his army into a mountain, and Huang Zhong pursued them to the mountain, but could not advance any further.
"General, why have we stopped pursuing?" the lieutenant asked.
Huang Zhong frowned and said slowly, "There might be an ambush!"
These mountains are the best places to hide troops in ambush; once you enter, you are easily ambushed.
"That brat Zhou Yu only fought us in duels. Taishi Ci lost to me and they withdrew their troops. Could it be that he deliberately lured me here?" Huang Zhong pondered for a moment before guessing.
Suddenly, a battle cry came from behind, and the Jiangdong army, covering the entire field, charged towards Huang Zhong's troops.
