Zhuge Liang immediately smiled and then ordered his men to untie the ropes binding Meng Huo.
"In that case, you may leave now, and we shall have another real battle."
Upon hearing this, Meng Huo was immediately stunned. He had not expected that Zhuge Liang would actually let him go again.
"You...you're going to let me go again?" Meng Huo looked at Zhuge Liang in astonishment.
"What? Are you scared?" Zhuge Liang chuckled contemptuously.
"Hmph! Who's afraid!" Meng Huo retorted defiantly.
"If you're not afraid, then leave. In three days, we'll have a real battle!"
After Zhuge Liang finished speaking, he immediately turned and left, leaving Meng Huo standing there in a daze.
"Aren't you leaving yet? Waiting for meals?" Wei Yan glared at Meng Huo.
Meng Huo took a deep breath, then turned and left.
After returning to his camp, he immediately summoned many of his clansmen to discuss countermeasures.
"Zhuge Liang is full of cunning schemes, we must find a way to deal with him," Meng Huo said in a deep voice.
"Your Majesty, what do you suggest we do?" the crowd asked.
"We can't just sit here and wait to die; we must take the initiative!" Meng Huo said solemnly, analyzing the situation carefully.
"Take the initiative?" Everyone was taken aback.
“That’s right! Zhuge Liang promised me he wouldn’t let that brat make a move. When our beasts go into battle, who can stop them?” Meng Huo said confidently.
Everyone's eyes lit up, and they all agreed.
"But what if Zhuge Liang tries another trick? Wouldn't we be like lambs to the slaughter?" someone raised an objection.
"No way! I made an agreement with him to have a real battle three days from now. Judging from the fact that he released me twice, he would never go back on his word!" Meng Huo said confidently.
Three days later.
Meng Huo, dressed in full military attire, rode atop a black tiger. Clad in armor, he exuded a dignified and imposing aura. Holding a large sword, he gazed at the southern barbarian camp with a cold expression and icy eyes.
Meng Huo's beast army appeared outside the Nanman camp.
Tigers roared and monkeys howled; snakes slithered and elephants moved—utter chaos ensued.
Zhuge Liang stood in front of the Shu army's camp, gazing at the distant mountains and forests, his eyes gleaming with wisdom.
Both sides got into position, ready for a big fight.
"roar!"
At this moment, a fierce roar came from the mountains and forests, and many ferocious beasts rushed out of the dense forest, including jackals, tigers, leopards, falcons, giant eagles, flying bears, and so on.
They surged towards the southern barbarian camp from all directions.
"Has Meng Huo finally lost his patience?" Zhuge Liang smiled faintly.
"Attack!"
The two sides immediately engaged in battle, and the stench of blood filled the air.
"Ah! Help! Don't eat me! Don't eat me!"
These wild beasts were extremely ferocious and had astonishing attack power. The Shu soldiers were quickly bitten, torn apart, or bitten to death!
Screams echoed, and blood flowed freely.
"Meng Huo, you may have the courage of a fierce beast, but you lack the wisdom of strategy," Zhuge Liang muttered to himself, before issuing his order.
Immediately afterwards, bison came into view, and they were kept in specially made wooden cages.
Each cow had a strip of cloth soaked in oil tied to its tail.
Zhuge Liang ordered the cloth strips to be lit, and the flames instantly ignited the tails of the cattle. The cattle, in pain, ran wildly and charged towards Meng Huo's camp.
Meng Huo's beast army was startled by the sudden appearance of the fire-ox cart and scattered in all directions.
Tigers, leopards, and elephants—these normally majestic beasts—lost their fighting spirit under the firelight and the onslaught of cattle.
As we all know, wild animals are most afraid of fire, let alone fire and the charge of a herd of cattle, which are simply their nemesis.
The fire oxen charged closer and closer, quickly engulfing Meng Huo's entire beast army.
Flames roared, and screams of agony filled the air. Meng Huo's beast army was utterly routed.
Meng Huo led the remaining soldiers in a hasty retreat, but it was too late; the Shu army charged straight in.
Meng Huo and his remaining troops were trapped in a narrow passage with no way to escape.
"Meng Huo, do you still want to resist?" Wei Yan shouted.
Subsequently, Meng Huo was captured once again.
This time, however, Zhuge Liang didn't even meet with Meng Huo and directly ordered his men to release him.
This made Meng Huo extremely ashamed, but he did not choose to submit to Zhuge Liang.
The fourth time, Zhuge Liang tricked Meng Huo's men, and Meng Huo was tied up and taken to the Shu army's camp while he was sleeping that night.
Meng Huo was unconvinced, but Zhuge Liang smiled and let him go again.
The fifth, sixth, and even the seventh time, Zhuge Liang captured Meng Huo again and brought him to the Shu army's camp.
Zhuge Liang looked at Meng Huo with a smile: "Meng Huo, is there anything else you want to say?"
Meng Huo remained silent.
"Men, untie Meng Huo!"
After saying this, Zhuge Liang waved his hand, and his soldiers immediately untied Meng Huo.
This was the seventh time he had been captured alive by Zhuge Liang, and he didn't want to keep going like this.
Meng Huo was disheartened. He had been captured and released seven times, and he no longer knew how to describe himself.
Meng Huo knelt at Zhuge Liang's feet: "I, Meng Huo, am not a shameless person. You captured me alive seven times using seven different methods."
"I'm convinced!"
"From this day forward, we, the southern barbarians, are willing to surrender to the Prime Minister and swear to serve Shu Han to the death!"
Upon hearing this, Zhuge Liang immediately stepped forward to help Meng Huo up.
"Great! That's exactly what I've been waiting to hear!"
"Men, prepare a banquet to entertain General Meng Huo!"
"Haha, congratulations, Prime Minister! Congratulations, Prime Minister!" Ma Su was the first to cheer.
Upon hearing this, the other generals cheered loudly, rejoicing that Zhuge Liang had subdued the Nanman.
