Through their battle, Lu Li also saw Jing Ke's strength. Although he was a minor grandmaster, his power was a fatal flaw, which led to him being suppressed by Cang Wu.
Jing Ke staggered backward. Cang Wu slashed out with his sword, but Jing Ke blocked it with his own. With a loud "bang," Jing Ke slid back three or four meters, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
"He's injured. If we don't stop him, he might be in danger!" Gai Nie frowned, worried about Jing Ke's safety.
"Mr. Jing Ke, are you still going to remain so stubborn?" Lu Li asked helplessly.
"Jing Ke swears to serve Prince Dan to the death and will never disobey!" Jing Ke's voice was resolute. He had made up his mind that even if it meant death, he would complete the task assigned to him by Prince Dan.
"Since that's the case, then so be it! Cangwu, come back." Lu Li sighed. Jing Ke was a respectable opponent. If it weren't for their different stances, perhaps he would have become friends with him.
Cangwu sheathed his broadsword and stood beside Lu Li. Jing Ke wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and said with a wry smile, "A person envied by heaven is indeed extraordinary."
Under normal circumstances, Jing Ke should not have lost to Cangwu, but it was precisely because of the vast difference in strength that Jing Ke was defeated.
But Lu Li knew that Jing Ke had not used his full strength; if they fought desperately, they would both perish.
The junior master's desperate efforts were terrifying.
“Jing Ke! Stop being so stubborn! Why do you insist on going to your death?” Gai Nie asked, his voice trembling.
He couldn't understand why Prince Dan, knowing it meant certain death, would still send Jing Ke, and yet Jing Ke actually came.
"Brother Gai, if your master asks you to do something, would you refuse?"
Gai Nie was immediately taken aback by Jing Ke's words. Then he slowly closed his eyes, knowing that Jing Ke had made up his mind and there was no way to save him.
"Take me to see the King of Qin. I hope to fight Brother Gai then!"
Afterwards, Gai Nie led Jing Ke to Xianyang Palace.
Ying Zheng sat upright in the main hall, and he was aware of what had happened in the Lu Li Villa.
He also greatly admired Jing Ke, and if he could subdue him, he would have another top-level expert.
"I am Jing Ke, and I greet the King of Qin!"
Ying Zheng slowly raised his hand and said, "Mr. Jing, please rise."
Jing Ke stood up from the ground and then looked up at Ying Zheng.
He couldn't help but sigh inwardly, "What a brilliant King of Qin!"
In Ying Zheng, Jing Ke saw a kind of aura that no other ruler had ever possessed—the aura of a king. Even as a junior master, he felt a sense of oppression.
"Mr. Jing, am I wrong to want to unify the world and bring peace and prosperity to the people?"
Jing Ke frowned, then said calmly, "No mistake!"
"Then why kill me?"
"Because of loyalty and righteousness, I had no choice but to kill!"
"But you knew that coming here was tantamount to suicide, so why did you still come?"
"Because of loyalty and righteousness, I had to die!"
Ying Zheng asked three questions, and Jing Ke answered three times, thus revealing Jing Ke's determination to die.
"Is it worth it for your so-called loyalty and righteousness?"
Ying Zheng felt it would be a great pity if Jing Ke were to die like that.
Mencius once said, "Life is what I desire, and righteousness is what I desire. If I cannot have both, I will give up life for righteousness!"
Ying Zheng took a deep breath and had nothing to say.
"I have a request, and I hope Your Majesty will grant it!"
Ying Zheng raised his hand and said, "Please speak."
"I hope that after the King of Qin unifies the country, he will bring stability to the people!"
Ying Zheng nodded and said very seriously, "This is the ambition I set when I returned to Qin at the age of nine, and it has never changed."
After hearing this, Jing Ke knelt down and kowtowed three times to Ying Zheng. Then he stood up and said, "Brother Gai, I request a battle!"
Gai Nie looked at Jing Ke with a pitying expression. He had witnessed the entire fight between him and Cang Wu, and Jing Ke was no match for him.
"Brother Jing..."
Jing Ke raised his hand to interrupt Gai Nie, then turned and walked out of the hall, saying as he went, "If Brother Gai still cherishes our past friendship, please respect my choice!"
Gai Nie sighed and came with Jing Ke to the open space outside the main hall.
Under the protection of the Black Ice Platform, Ying Zheng arrived at the high platform to watch the final duel between the two.
"Brother Gai, I have a favor to ask."
"Speak."
"After I die, I would like to ask Brother Gai to raise my infant child. Would that be possible?"
After hesitating for a moment, Gai Nie finally agreed.
"Thank you, Brother Gai. Draw your sword!"
Gai Nie drew his short sword and thrust it straight at Jing Ke's throat, but Jing Ke dodged it with lightning speed.
The two instantly became entangled in combat, and a strong gust of wind swept over them.
Gai Nie fought with increasing ferocity, and Jing Ke gradually could not withstand the onslaught. He was knocked back several steps and crashed into the city wall, spitting out a mouthful of blood, his chest stained red.
Gai Nie did not continue his attack. Jing Ke wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, then stood up, staring intently at Gai Nie, and said in a deep voice, "Again!"
Jing Ke charged at Gai Nie again, and Gai Nie, not to be outdone, swung his short sword and met him head-on.
The two fought fiercely until Gai Nie shouted, "Ninth Sword! Sword energy soars to the sky, a giant sword descends from heaven!"
The next moment, Gai Nie stepped into the air, gripped his sword with both hands, and thrust it downwards with force!
A giant sword formed from condensed sword energy appeared in the sky, seemingly piercing through heaven and earth, and thrusting towards Jing Ke.
Jing Ke's pupils contracted sharply, his expression changed drastically, and he hurriedly used his lightness skill to dodge, but it was too late. His entire shoulder was pierced by the giant sword, and a tearing pain spread throughout his body.
"Pfft!"
