"The court has already deliberated and stripped the title of Prince of Anhua. Shen Ying, with the seal of General Pinghu, has been appointed as the commander-in-chief. Together with your uncle Yang Yiqing, he will be in charge of the Beijing garrison and the armies of Shaanxi, Ningxia, Yansui, Gansu, and Liangzhou to suppress the rebels."
Su Wanwan raised an eyebrow, her expression somewhat grave: "Should we send the capital troops over?"
The elite troops in the capital numbered only around 120,000, and the rest of the second-class officers and soldiers served these elite troops.
The army moved forward at an extremely slow pace.
The defense of the capital will also become a problem.
The provisions and fodder used by the army are of paramount importance.
Lu Xingjian's slender fingers lifted the corners of her lips slightly.
"Not all of them were sent; the provisions and supplies were all arranged."
He dispatched Zhang Yong to oversee military affairs in Ningxia and other places, and Lu Yin, the eunuch of the Imperial Horse Administration, to take charge of the imperial spears. He also selected 30,000 elite soldiers from the Beijing Garrison to go to Ningxia.
The round trip was over two thousand miles.
Su Wanwan stood up and helped him take off his coat: "Get some rest."
Lu Xingjian uncovered the blank sheet of paper on the table and picked up the letter that Su Wanwan hadn't finished writing.
Su Wanwan's expression stiffened slightly.
The letter didn't actually contain much; it was just a few words of greeting and wishes for safety.
He also mentioned Yan Ge'er.
Lu Xingjian gripped the letter tightly with his fingers, his fingertips turning slightly white.
They are so close now, a family together, reunited.
She still couldn't let go of Xiao Bin.
Xiao Bin will always hold an important place in her heart.
He couldn't force it; it was a position he could never replace.
The man's proud self-esteem was hurt at this moment.
"So, you're still thinking about him?"
Even his son was still thinking about that man.
Su Wanwan bent down to help him undo his belt:
"There's war going on in Ningxia right now, I'm just worried about his safety."
The man pushed her hand away and said expressionlessly:
“I’m the one who sleeps in the same bed with you every day, and I’m the one who coaxes you to take your medicine when you’re sick. I’m your husband.”
"It's not Xiao Bin, who's thousands of miles away!"
Su Wanwan frowned. "Do you want to start a fight?"
Lu Xingjian gave a sarcastic laugh. "Would it kill you to tear him out of your heart?"
Su Wanwan pursed her lips, "Just because I married you means I should cut off all contact with other men, right?"
"Even if he is my savior, can't I send a letter to inquire about his well-being?"
Lu Xingjian's tone was icy, his eyes sharp, "Is he just a savior?"
"Ask yourself honestly, if he and I fell into the water at the same time, who would you save?"
Su Wanwan didn't hesitate, "I'll save you."
Lu Xingjian was stunned.
His gaze softened considerably, and the chill emanating from him gradually dissipated.
“He’s a better swimmer than me. If I ask him to save you, he will.” Su Wanwan said calmly.
“But you are different. Even if you could save him, you might not do it.”
Lu Xingjian's face darkened instantly.
"So, in your heart, I will never be as good as him." He spoke calmly, as if stating a fact.
Su Wanwan was silent for a few moments, and finally said, "No, every coin has two sides."
Her silence deeply stung the man.
Clearly, the last thing she said was just a perfunctory attempt to appease his pride.
In her heart, he, the supreme emperor, was no match for a mere bodyguard.
Her heart is biased.
As for whose side they favor, it goes without saying.
Lu Xingjian's jawline was taut. He threw the letter aside, turned around, and walked out.
Su Wanwan quickly put the letter away and was about to chase after him when she saw the door slam shut.
Yan Ge'er lives next door, so there's no fear of waking the child.
Feeling annoyed, Su Wanwan turned and went to Yan Ge'er's room.
The child woke up and sat on the bed rubbing his eyes.
"Mommy, did you and Daddy have a fight?"
"No," Su Wanwan lay down next to Yan Ge'er, "Did I scare you?"
Yan Ge'er patted Su Wanwan on the shoulder to comfort her.
"I'm not afraid. Mother is so good. It must be Father who is being unreasonable."
Su Wanwan: "..."
The child is so well-behaved, why is the father so domineering?
Two completely different types.
If he wasn't her son, she wouldn't even dare to believe they were father and son.
"Go to sleep." Su Wanwan hugged Yan Ge'er, wondering when to send the letter out.
Don't let Lu Xingjian find out, lest it be intercepted again.
As I was lost in thought, with my eyes half-open and half-closed, I vaguely noticed someone standing in front of the bed.
"Who?" she asked in a low voice.
Lu Xingjian sat down on the edge of the bed, frowning. "Who do you think it is?"
Afraid of waking the child, Su Wanwan got up and asked him, "Where did you go?"
The man's expression was somewhat unpleasant. "I stood in the outer room for a while."
I waited for her to come and coax me, but she didn't come.
Su Wanwan left the room and asked him, "Go back to sleep?"
The man hesitated for a moment, then said, "What else?"
Su Wanwan didn't say anything more and went to the bedroom.
Lu Xingjian followed slowly behind her, watching her back.
"So, you never intended to contact me at all?"
Su Wanwan glanced back at him. "I thought you were busy."
The man just stared at her.
Su Wanwan paused, then went over and hugged his waist, saying softly:
"It's late, I'm sleepy, let's stop arguing, okay?"
The man reached out and picked her up, walking expressionlessly towards the bedroom. "You naughty Wanwan."
Su Wanwan reached out and hugged his neck, then kissed his handsome, angular face.
"Good husband."
The man maintained a cold expression, a hint of arrogance flashing in his eyes.
