Have the border troops of Daliang taken some kind of super tonic? Why are they suddenly working so hard?
He had no choice but to lead his army westward in hopes of finding an opening to return to the grasslands.
However.
Red-coated cannons had already been laid in ambush to the west.
The cannons roared.
The Tatar soldiers, who were already being chased and fleeing in panic, were blown to pieces.
Dayan Khan himself was also seriously injured.
In this battle, almost the entire main force of the Tatars was annihilated, with only a few people managing to escape back to the steppe with Dayan Khan.
Lu Xingjian continued to live in Datong.
Not long after, news came from spies on the grasslands that Dayan Khan had died from his injuries.
The reign of the Northern Yuan Khanate, a dynasty that brought about a period of revival, has officially come to an end.
Lu Xingjian did not stop there.
Instead, they released Barth.
With the support of Da Liang, Bars was vying for the Khanate with his nephew, who was trusted by Dayan Khan.
Without its main force and embroiled in internal strife, the Tatars will not pose a threat to the Nine Borders for at least several years.
Yan Ge'er and Su Wanwan lived in the Zhenguo Duke's Mansion in Xuanfu. They only knew that the war in Datong was extremely fierce and that Lu Xingjian was personally going to the battlefield.
The mother and son were on tenterhooks.
"Father will definitely be alright!" Yan Ge'er clenched his little fists, trying his best to comfort Su Wanwan.
He was too young, and his father wouldn't let him go to the front lines, so he arranged for him to stay home and protect his mother.
"Hmm, I wonder how things are over there." Su Wanwan looked on anxiously, unable to sit still.
"Ten thousand Tatar cavalry are approaching Xuanfu City!" A servant rushed in to report the news.
Su Wanwan clenched her fists, but her expression grew even calmer: "No need to worry."
Xuanfu City has stood on the frontier for many years and is exceptionally fortified. For a mere 10,000 cavalry to breach Xuanfu City is practically a pipe dream.
She wasn't worried.
My only concern is whether we can defeat the enemy on the main battlefield in Datong.
The unusually tense atmosphere continued into the night.
Su Wanwan snuggled up to Yan Ge'er, trying to lull him to sleep.
The child, however, still had his big, dark eyes wide open.
Suddenly, Yan Ge jumped out of bed and ran barefoot outside, shouting, "Daddy's back!"
Su Wanwan didn't even bother to put on her coat before hurrying outside.
She bumped into a man in dirty armor at the doorway and helped him up, saying, "Wanwan."
Su Wanwan's eyes welled up with tears: "It's good that you're back."

Author's Closing Remarks
It's finally over!
My God, this is my first million-word novel, and writing it was so painful!
When I started writing this book, I just wrote it casually without any outline. The plot was also made up on the spot, and I only produced 4,000 words a day.
I started writing it last October and it took me ten months to finish.
This is the author's first book to achieve some success. There are many problems and immature parts. Thank you to all the readers for your understanding and support, especially the long-time fans who have followed for so long, and the friends who have read it two or three times. I love you all so much.
The most difficult time was when the author's father passed away in May. Under such a huge blow, the updates that had been going on for more than half a year had to be stopped.
Many nights, I told myself, "Maybe I shouldn't update today, I should just take a day off."
This idea only lasted for half an hour before I went back to my computer and started typing.
But the hardest part was that I persevered.
Thank you all so much for your support.
Your comments have given me a lot of motivation.
Thank you all for your tolerance and understanding.
If you feel there's anything I haven't explained, please leave a comment and I'll try my best to complete it.
In addition, the male protagonist of the new book is "Yan Ge'er" from this book. If you are interested, you can also check out the new book.
I hope the author continues to grow and writes an even better book next time.
I also wish all my readers good luck and happiness!
